And, as you are well aware, it's not the only contradiction, anomaly or oddity you'll find in the series. I've types out over twenty pages of those kinds of quotes if you're interested.

And not just from the Horus Heresy series. In comparison to many other sources of background literature, they present some very interesting possibilities that explain some errors, and throw what is now considered official fact into doubt (the Istvaan III and V events, where it was, and why it's now recorded as Isstvan being a very good example).

And to help anyone out with what Juan Garcia and Drake Seta were saying, here's the quote from The Horus Heresy, volume XVIII, pp247-8. Remember, Alpharius (and his alleged twin Omegon) was the last primarch to be found, but at the time of the conversation two of the primarchs are no longer (it is implied) getting about.

It seems the Emperor was aware of Alpharius at this time even though he had not yet been recovered. It's also worth noting both Corax and Alpharius seem to have a similar phase-shifting-invisibility gift, older records indicate there were only 20 primarchs, not 21, and naming the XX (last) Legion the Alpha Legion seems, well, you kind of get where this is going. Anyway, here's your quote.

“Yes, you have brothers,” said the Emperor, smiling at his son’s delight. “Seventeen of them. You are primarchs, my finest creations.”

“Seventeen?” Corvus asked, confused. “I remember that I was number nineteen. How can that be so?”

The Emperor’s expression grew bleak, filled with deep sorrow. He looked away as he replied.

“The other two,” he said. “That is a conversation for another day.”J337https://www.blogger.com/profile/11799984789256345571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6171473526147600929.post-48559588315488489722015-11-26T23:17:02.757+00:002015-11-26T23:17:02.757+00:00Hi Nathan. This is acknowledged as being the correct order by Laurie Golding (Editor of HH and Black Library). I would be interested to see if it changes drastically. The Eleventh Primach was expunged first and the second Primarch was discovered and expunged later. But still the II & XI were expunged before Corax was found... Horus Heresy is CANON, and they are still given places of acknowledgement in the Halls of Terra or Guilliman meeting room.Nathanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10571858033231478746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6171473526147600929.post-7108956634313697232015-05-29T23:34:13.532+01:002015-05-29T23:34:13.532+01:00Hi. He was number 19.
And referring to the other 2 as a story for another day can be referring to the 2 as yet undiscovered Primarchs (Primarch B and Alpharius).
Primarch A was expunged before Monarchia. This is stated in First Heretic and I recall it was the 11th Legion. If this is the case and needs to be read or put in context with the Quotes above then maybe the 11th Primarch at this stage is imprisoned or similar.
In a way I hope they don't ever explain it away / reveal info regarding the 2 & 11 Primarchs but in others I do. When the Emperor says that it is a conversation for another day he could well be referring to the explanation of the Primarch's being separated. It could, more likely, be an author error. The order in which the Primarch's were discovered is fairly concrete now thanks to Laurie Goulding. However, it is GWs IP and I can easily see it changing lol. Awesome comment though :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09252506564096149264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6171473526147600929.post-50162097648507453292015-05-29T00:58:04.780+01:002015-05-29T00:58:04.780+01:00In the novel "Deliverance Lost" when the...In the novel "Deliverance Lost" when the Emperor arrives to Deliverance the Emperor says to Corax that he have 17 brothers, then Corax says that he was the number 19, the Emperor says:

"The other two... well that is a question for another day"

Then when Corax was found 2 primarchs had already been punished.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05140600331521291267noreply@blogger.com
