The Horus Heresy: Primarchs novels

Howdy Guys and Girls - take a look at a new upcoming series of 30k books, starting with none other than Roboute Guilliman!

Launch title in The Horus Heresy: Primarchs series, a brand new sequence of novels from Black Library.

Long before the coming of the Imperium, the realm of Ultramar was ruled by Roboute Guilliman, the last Battle King of Macragge. Even after learning of his true heritage as a primarch son of the Emperor of Mankind, he strove to expand his domain as efficiently and benevolently as possible, with the XIII Legion Ultramarines as his alone to command. Now, facing a rival empire on the ork-held world of Thoas, Guilliman must choose his weapons carefully – otherwise his dream of a brighter future could be lost forever ...

240 pages.

Release is supposed to be around October. Cover isn't finished yet :)

What do you think about this? A spin off series about the Primarchs showing them before the outbreak of the heresy? Some more background for the Great Crusade? Maybe a book that shows how awesome Ferrus Manus was? Write us in the comments below!

  1. I think it's a great idea! I just hope they're planning on releasing them as audio books as well.

    1. Agreed. Weirdly was talking to my wife yesterday about Angron (she is reading the first three of the Horus Heresy book series) and she asked if there was a book about him prior to leading the World Eaters. At that point the answer was no, but now...

  3. Strange that they are releasing what seem to be Great Crusade era books at this point. Welcome but strange. I wonder what perspective these will be told from? Could they be similar to Smallville style stories? Exciting times.

  4. I'm intrigued, but also wish they would concentrate on the main HH series!! But as it seems that is also set for a series of releases it may be best of both worlds!!

    1. It is a seperate set of releases. It's there to support the "Horus Heresy" range, but not really part of the main narrative. It makes sense to release more Horus Heresy novels in the next months ;)

  6. I'm interesting in reading more about the primarchs, before they were caught in the events of the heresy.

  7. Primarchs are awesome, so of course this is a welcome series of books :)

On an off topic, can someone help me. I was taking a look at the photo of the HH Timeline from the Weekender 2016, and i just can't make out one word, it starts with 'The Scouring of [something] Star'. It is the box in 011.M31 next to The Wolf Cull.

    Thanks :)

  8. I wish that is how they posed Guillaume in the first place. That looks super sick.
Can't wait to read this. On a side note was I the only one who thought deathwatch shoulder pads were put on the right shoulder not the left?

    1. Afaik Deathwatch Shoulder pads were always on the left. Chapter icons were where normal tactical symbols should have been. :)

  9. How am I supposed to buy all the books, all the models, paint, tools and scenery? To much good stuff!

  10. Huh, interesting to be sure. I imagine it'll be one per primarch/legion. I'd place good money on John French writing a Rogal Dorn one, if it happens.

  11. Totally excited for this esp starting with Guilliman. Little ifey on Annandale being the author. Abnett or ADB would have been deft since I think they have protrayed Guilliman the best. Annandale has been little hit or miss.

  12. Great. They will certainly maximise their return from this with special editions etc, but it is good to see them going into (slightly) new direction.

  13. I hope Gav Thorpe doesn't do the one about Corax.

  14. Much as I really love all the stuff BL have been releasing lately, especially the HH stuff, I have to say that it's absolutely killing me financially. I've been buying the novels as hardback (the specials when I can afford it) and the Beast Arises series, the space marine battles series, the normal 40K novels and the e-books. There's only so much I can read and I find myself buying more and more and getting further and further behind...but I need to buy them as physical books because pretty soon they're out of print and available only as ebooks...at nearly the same price as physical ones.

Being a fan of the fiction has caused one or two BIG rows between me and The Missus...but I can't help it-it's like literary crack...
