Leman Russ: Unboxing

Hi all.

Here is a quick unboxing of Leman Russ!

He is my second favourite Primarch model as it stands. Vulkan first obviously.

The parts!

Beautiful detail and quite convertable/reposible.

I am a fan of the back pack. Would like to know if it represents Morkai or his wolves.

The head unpainted doesn't seem as fierce as it is when painted, but still looks good.

Beautiful weapons. Balenight and Helwinter.

I can't wait to get some time to get him painted now!!!

  2. Seems like such a weird design choice not to go with Mjalnar. Looking forward to the results though.

    1. Well, the Prospero Burns cover had him with the Balenight Sword, and Mjalnar should look like a bigger version of Ragnar's sword - also don't forget, we *may* get more than one Primarch version from FW after all =)

  3. Looks awesome. Has a nice variety of weapons. Wonder when general release will be to snap him up.

  4. He looks good. If you were brave you switch the weapons and alter the pose if you wanted.
Looking forward to Russ coming on general sale. Any idea of time frames for that?
Guess we won't have rules for him for a couple of months yet though?

    1. Inferno may be delayed until February now sadly.
I'm sure it would be possible. Shield in right arm and Sword slung could be possible.

    2. Or you could do him in his sled, during a parade :P

      *giggles and rans away*

      muahaha

    4. The 'sled of Russ' never ever existed!

    5. "Stormrider is an ornate war chariot held aloft by anti-grav gyrostabilisers. It has no means of self-propulsion, for it has ever been drawn forth by a pair of giant Thunderwolves since the time of Leman Russ."

      :P

I think I may get a second Russ sometime soon *giggles again*

    6. It doesn't exist. Russ was given it as a gift by some silly git, he smiled politely as he received it. He meets the git 3 years later, he asks Russ; "How's the chariot treating you?"
Russ replies with a tight smile "fine thanks, I use it every day" (lies as it still is sitting in its original packaging).
Git smiles satisfied and walks away feeling like he did something great for the Imperium.
Many years later after Russ disappears into the Warp (leaving his untouched sled behind), Git visits Fenris after the first couple of Great Wolfs have Lead the Chapter.
"You should use the sled I made! Russ used to use it every battle."
"Did he?!" Goes looking for it, "wow he must have really liked it to keep it this well maintained," straps on two pissed off and embarrassed looking Wolves (think your pet dog in a knitted Xmas tree costume at Xmas time) and goes for the inaugural flight in the biggest embarrassment in 40k.

    7. The more you guys hate on the santa-sled, the more I get the urge to convert a 2nd Russ on his beloved sled with his spear ;)

      *giggles*

  6. It's a very nice model, I love the heresy wolves, they are what the space wolves should be. Don't think I'll ever get my 40k wolves out of their box again, pretty sure it would just make me feel like I need a bath

    1. I'm not sure if there really is such a difference tbh, besides that the Legion back than also had terrans in it. The 40k lore always was "they still fight like they did as a Legion, as Russ' wanted it"^^

    2. I think what he means is that 30k wolves have a darker more sinister colour scheme and more subdued "wolf fetish things", whereas 40k space wolves don't.
