Blood Bowl: Chaos Dwarf team!

 Hi all

This has been a really exciting release for us, especially Phil (@engine_phil) who has always had a soft spot for Dwarves with big hats.

So we were fortunate enough to receive most of the Chaos Dwarf team for review. Have a look below.

The Team look absolutely fantastic and up to date. The hats actually look good too!

The markers look brilliant too. Phil has painted the lava effect fantastically well.

Zzharg Madeye looks brilliant too. His beard is really well textured, and we think the cannon firing effect is great.

The Blood Bowl pitch itself is brilliant. It is set on an active volcano! So as you can imagine, it can get quite hot tempered on the pitch.

The Choas Dwarf Bull Centaurs are fantastic kits too (cast in Forge World Resin for extra great detail).

We hope to get a game in with them some time soon. so check back regularly!

Blood Bowl - Gnome Blood Bowl Team - The Sizzlebottom Scorers

 Hi all

We were incredibly happy to receive the new Gnome Blood Bowl Team for review!

These were painted by Lauren (@honey_the_destroyer88) for her son Arlo who loves Gnomes!

We love this team so much! We honestly can't imagine what they will do next. . . . Maybe Fairys?

Even the watering can has the BB symbol on it

We had a look at a fair few Gnomes for reference!

We settled on blue, green and yellow.

We added some model flowers to the base to tie in to the Gnome pitch which we can't wait to get our hands on!

The Sizzlebottom Scorers (named after Arlo's D&D character).

Blood Bowl, Gutter Bowl, Underworld Denizens and Old World Alliance review

 Hi all

Hi all. We were sent the new Gutter Bowl for review and so jumped at the chance for a match.

You can see our game on our YouTube channel “@BattleBunniesTV” where the Norse team takes on the Amazons.

Gameplay wise, there are a few bits which make it slightly different from a regular game of Blood Bowl. One thing is that you cannot have more than 5 people on your roster that aren’t Linemen.

The starting lineup of a match is 7 players too, and due to the narrowness of some corridors this works really well.

Refills are a flat 100,000 too regardless of team, so you really don’t feel they are worth it if you want to splash out on better players.

This also helps give an air that these are rookies and not serious players and they sometimes fail on the simplest of tasks. No refs either! So you can foul without risk of being sent off. Whilst the supplement does not feel as random as Dungeon Bowl, it does add a fun twist to the game. Definitely worth getting.

Also coming out we have a re boxing of the Old World Alliance Team! Our contributor @eyecon74 on Instagram jumped on this team as he was looking to get back into Blood Bowl (and is looking forward to a game soon).

Also out is the new Underworld Denizens re box. This is a team that I will be working on to give me another option of teams to play with in the future. I am already halfway there with my Blightchester Guttercutters.

Blood Bowl: New Amazons vs Skaven, Unboxing and review

Hi all

So Honey the Destroyer finally got the team she has been waiting for to me made into plastic, since she got into Blood Bowl years ago. Thanks to Games Workshop for sending them through for review!

It’s no secret that she has been waiting for this Tier 1 team for a long time. My Skaven regularly win matches against her Black Orc team, and she wanted a little more of an even match going forward.

So we had a great game against each other (with a lot of casualties somehow). We also filmed us unboxing the team and having a look through the new Spike and card pack.

Dodge across the whole team is quite the one, especially with a good strength.

We hope to have another match soon against Norse, so come and have a look at that too!

Blood Bowl: Norse Team and Spike.

Hi all.
It’s finally happened! The Norse team are out, and we were fortunate enough to get a copy of Spike and the team for review.

The models are absolutely fantastic, and brilliantly designed. They are literally 1 step off walking into the Aett to join the Vlka Fenryka (probably why I like them so much).

The team is being painted right now in Grey and Red stripes colours, to pay homage to the 30k Space Wolf colour scheme by our talented @Engine_Phil (you will see pics of them soon).

So let’s look at the team itself and see how it matches up against others.

Norse Raider Linemen:
So these are our backbone of the team. They have a respectable human lineman stat line, but gain the Block skill (brilliant) as well as the Drunkard Trait (slight hinderance to go for it rolls) and the Thick Skull Trait (great! because they are utterly hammered lol).

Beer Boars:
I had no idea what these were and actually thought they were tokens for the score board when I first saw them. But no. They are great. You can have up to 2 of them on your team, and should you have them positioned within 3 squares of players which are prone at the end of the opposition’s team turn, they may immediately stand up. This is pretty great. You just need to keep them safe.

Norse Berserkers:
These feel not too much different from linemen, but have Block Frenzy and Jump Up. They are not very strong, so they seem to be a model you really have to have some support with. I will be trying them out, but it seems Linemen might be better to load up on with Ulfwereners.

Valkyries:
These feel like they will be the scoring unit for the team as they are good at both Catching and throwing. They also have strip ball and Dauntless.

Ulfwereners:
These if buffed early on would be very good, may be worth using them on weaker targets to get some casualty points. Frenzy on its own isn’t great, but they are quite hardy with a Av of 9.

Yhetees:
Great dependable Heavy Hitters. Can’t really imagine doing a team without one for 140k.
A strength 5 model with Frenzy, Unchannelled Fury, Claws and Disturbing prensence.

Re rolls are at a reasonable 60k, so it’s worth getting a few.
They are a Tier 1 team too. They can also be Favoured of Khorne, Favoured of Chaos Undivided or Old World Classic.

So my starting line up will be:
2 Valkyries
2 Ulfwereners
6 Linemen
1 Yhetee
2 Beer Boars
2 re rolls

Early on I will be trying to add skills to my Ulfwereners, taking any opportunity to cause easy casualty rolls and touch downs. The Valkyries will be throwing experience gaining throws to each other wherever possible to increase their skills too. The linemen will be slowly increasing their stats too hopefully.
Beer Boars will be kept away from the front line so the opponent needs to waste a Blitz on them, should they want to deal with them early.
When saving allows for it I will get an Apothecary, additional Team reroll and then a couple of Berzerkers.

They can also be used as additions to the College of Beasts and College of Heavens for Dungeon Bowl.

So looks like a fun team to game with. Thanks to Games Workshop for the sample

Blood Bowl: Khorne Blood Bowl Team completed

Hi all. I have finished my team! Bloodmire are ready for season 2.

As mentioned in part 1 I painted 2x (thinned with water) coats of blood for the blood god over silver to get this effect.
Hope you enjoyed my Khorne Blood Bowl Team Painting Guide.

Thanks to Games Workshop for the sample. Now I need to get them on the skulls pitch!!

Blood Bowl: Khorne Blood Bowl Team part 1

Hi all

I have been preparing a new Blood Bowl team! The new Khorne team is absolutely beautiful and I thought I would have a good challenge with a tier 2 team.

Great to assemble and no numbers out of place.

It was little effort to swap the heads round for Bloodseekers 1 & 2 to make the models look different.

I have been preparing the base colour that I will be using. I have sprayed Grey Seer over the models and then used a Black Templar Contrast paint to get the trousers and armour plates base coated. I had a lovely easy recipe for glossy red which I will be doing next.

Thanks to Games Workshop for the sample.

Blood Bowl: Belchley Brawlaz

Hi all.

Introducing the Belchley Brawlaz.

Lauren has finished her first Blood Bowl team, and has named them in a crude re-wording of the Town we are moving to (Bletchley).

She has used a variety of techniques from Contrast paints to traditional colours.

She chose blue and white as they are the same colours as the Kickboxing club she is part of.

Lauren likes the way they play, especially the Grab rule. I was expecting her to do an Elf team, but she wanted to do something slightly different to her normal choices.

Let’s see how the perform on the Grid Iron.
