Kill Team: Hivestorm review and unboxing video

 Hi all

We were fortunate to get a copy of the new Kill Team Hivestorm game. Its a great new edition and I am very grateful to see the back of the Shapes which apprear on the measuring devices. Inches will do fine :)

The tokens themselves are also a lot more user friendly. You can leave the toke in place until the target model has finished its whole activation. If it can't complete the action for some reason, you can reset it back to where it was really easily this way.

The scenery in the box is probably the best content since Chalnath's box. It is all you would ever need to play through this new season of Kill Team and can be used on most other Warhammer 40K boards. Our terrain was painted by our contributor Fish (@the_viking_fish).

There is tons in this new box. Have a look at the unboxing video here:

The new Universal assets are great bits of equipment too. My favourites are the Barbed wire and the Ladders which have been designed so well.

1" , 2,", 3" and good ol' 6". No more shapes!!

The tall barricade piece of cover and ladder in action.

We decided to also film a Necromunda game on the new board:

Kill Team Termination - Plasma Genatorium

 Hi all

We received the new Kill Team for review. Have a look at the new terrain. Its fantastic!

Here are the 2x Genatorium. Great terrain pieces, but a bit of a shame that they do not tie in with the existing Sector Imperialis range. Pipes won't connect to them or anything. But the design is still great.

A lovely red one!

Had a lot of fun painting the big chevrons!

The source lighting was painted with airbrush.

Kill Team Nightmare - Night Lords - The Dread Gheist Nemesis Claw

 Hi all

We received the Kill Team Nightmare box, and it is brilliant. The Mandrakes and the Night Lords make you feel that you can't possibly consider which you would prefer to be caught by! Its great to see an upgrade sprue for a Chaos Space Marine Legion like this. I do hope we see a sprue for the other Legions now too.

Painted by @battle_bunnies_drake_seta.

The Dread Gheist Nemesis Claw. I absolutely loved painting them.

It was great fun painting the Visionary's cape. I used different skin colours to add detail.

The Ventrilokar is really dark, and carries a dismembered Astartes to battle on a pole.

The Skinthief just loves skin!

The Fearmonger is another great model. I decided to go for an orange poisioned liquid on the blade, as I just wanted to get away from the green (why is poison always green!).

Kill Team: Into the Dark - Kroot Kill team painted

Hi all.

Following up from the scenery painting tutorial we did online, we now have some lovely Kroot to show off!

@eyecon74 painted these lovely models for our club. You can follow him on Instagram.

They were great to assemble (with a few fiddly pieces).

The Shaper looks awesome. Great to see new models for this army.

The Kill Team assembled.

Kroot Hounds look great. Would love for GW to make a plush of them.

We are trying to get a painting guide up online, so check back to our YouTube channel to see it soon hopefully.

Thanks to Games Workshop for the review item.

Kill Team into the Dark: unboxing, review and painting guide

Hi all

We were fortunate to receive a review copy of the great new Kill Team into the Dark boxed game from Games Workshop.

Have a look at our unboxing, game setup and painting guide in the video below.

Don’t forget to subscribe too!

Terrain:
The terrain is really excellent. My first impression was that the detail was a bit too crowded, like the old imperial city board that Games Workshop did, where the footpaths just made no sense etc., but after painting it I was pleasantly surprised. It is more akin to an ancient submarine than a sci-fi warship.
The terrain clips together nice and solidly, and I doubt there would be a mid game knock which would necessitate a full re build.
The thicker the tiles are painted, the less connectable I think they will be, and they may end up having some paint scraped off where you put the lugs into the square supports. Any of you which have the Sector Mechanicus kits will know of what I speak. I personally would have preferred to have seen magnet holes, but without that option it is definitely the best option that they could have taken. The terrain team from Games Workshop are a very talented bunch!!

The video shows a painting guide I knocked together to give a fast and effective scheme, so you can get onto the battlefield nice and quick, and to do justice to the terrain.

Board:
Yes! It’s a card one not a throne awful poster one (Please Games Workshop, no more poster battlefields!). The detail is great, and is take of some future up and coming 3D tile from what I can tell. Not sure how/if it will marry up with a 3D Space Hulk board game, but I am interested in seeing that.
Kill Team is really strong as a board game, so it could be that a Terminator vs Genestealer game could be very effective and visceral.

It takes about 8-15 minutes to prepare a battlefield, which is pretty good (experience will speed this up too). The maps are clear too.

Models:
The Imperial Navy and Kroot models are beautiful. Lots of cool options and some really well designed assembly, especially for the Navy crew who actually have 2x part feet on some pieces, so to eliminate nasty mould shadows making them lose detail.
You will see more of the Kroot in the coming days too!

Kill Team: Fronteris terrain from Morroch completed

Hi all

I have finished the Kill Team Moroch scenery that we were sent for review. So I have come up with a really easy method for it if you are interested!

Painting guide:
  • Undercoat with Chaos Black.
  • Airbrush all over with a mix of 1:1:1 of Dryad bark, Abaddon black and Warplock Bronze. You can use a rattle can of Mournfang Brown, but it is a bit redder (and what I have used below which I am not too happy with). You can always add some very light sponging of Mournfang Brown to add some variety to the rust colours.
  • Wet drybrush quickly; Vallejo Chipping Medium over the edges of the entire scenery set and where wear and tear could happen (step edges and areas of regular footfall). LEAVE TO DRY FOR 24 HOURS or the chipping medium might fail/mix with the next layer.
  • Airbrush Nurgling green over the entire model. Leave to dry for a few hours.
  • Get a standard kitchen sponge (clean). Wet it (not soaking) and skim it roughly over the edges of the green buildings, this will activate the chipping medium and allow you to pull green paint off of the edges to make it look like it has been chipped off. You can practice and play with this until you are happy with the effect (remember, less is sometimes more, so make sure you get some source images to hand so you don’t go too far with it.
  • Then paint all details how you wish them to look.
  • When you are happy, seal with Klear/pledge floor polish or Gloss varnish.
  • Then you you have the option of: (A) making a oil wash of burnt umber, raw umber and black oils and odourless white spirits, dabbing over all bolts and into the recesses, waiting to dry and use white spirit and cotton rags (and Cotton wool bud sticks) to buff it off leaving just a recessed residue. (B) same as above but with AK Interactive streaking grime or AK Interactive dark brown wash. (C) pin washing Agrax earthshade and adding Typus Corrosion into the grimier areas.
  • Other weathering like Nihloc Oxide onto brass areas etc and any finishing touches (like using lead pencils to add worn silver edges to the most chipped areas).
  • Seal with Munitorium Varnish.

Surprised myself 2 pieces in by being a bit rough with a clean wet sponge.

Throne I love an oil wash.

Decided to go rusty on the dish itself. White May have been better though in hindsight.

In time I will add a Transfer or numeral on this I think.

Lovely and rusty gate.

Did I say I love oils.

I wanted it to look old a derelict, so it would fit in with the Ash Waste terrain which was recently painted by @eyecon74 as another review item.

You can see the final lead edging I did on the pipe here too.

As you can see it’s possibly one shade too red!

It’s a great terrain set. Hope it can be expanded too.

Has a play with Dirty Down rust on this model for the roof. It came out really well

Kill Team: Moroch Chaos Traitor Guard review

Hi all

Today we’re taking a look at the Militarum Traitoris kill team which reaches our hobby collection by way of the new Kill Team: Moroch set. Kindly sent to the Battle Bunnies secret dropsite by Games Workshop for this review. It’s at this time that I realise through the many years of collecting Warhammer these are my very first 41st Millennium humans I've ever assembled - no xenos or Astartes today!

Given these once proud Astra Militarum soldiers had fallen from the Emperor’s light, whether through subversion or choice, I wanted to opt for a paint scheme which reflected this. Even my basing choice was to reflect the grimy bland colour palette I wanted.

Assembly of the kill team was straight-forward with a plethora of weapons and heads to choose from. I wanted to select body parts such as the helmets with added chainmail or topknot spikes. Even the additional body accessories showing a divergence from the clean, uniform…well… uniform of the guard were first picks for my builds. I enjoyed the range of components on the sprues and even after the full team was assembled I had an array of options remaining - perfect for future conversions.. The instructions were clear and well numbered, clearly describing the build variations in the kit. The Traitor Enforcer and Traitor Ogryn were included in this kit and came on their own distinct sprues. I believe these were previously available in the Blackstone fortress set but to me these were new.

For painting I wanted to use a limited colour palette of very bland colours, namely dirty greens, greys, silvers and pinks. Areas of flesh which were few would be a silvered pink with the only bright points on the models being any chaos trinkets or points of energy. I imagined this kill team wandering the dark and grimy corners of some undercity running traitoris errands. The basing choice for these would be a harmonising dark ash rather than my usual choice of a stark contrasting colour. Again, this would reflect the dark undercity.

These traitor guards were great fun to assemble and doing such a limited colour palette was a change for me but it seems to have turned out well. There are a few areas I could continue working on to progress from Table to Parade Ready. I’d welcome any ideas  you may have - perhaps some rust effects or gore on the trophy heads? Let Battle Bunnies know what you’d do with this kit.
