New Release - Praise the Omnissiah!

Hello everyone!

As ever Friday giveth news and new resin. Today with have the awesome new Mechanicum Macrocarid Explorator.

A heavy support option and transport this certainly provides the Taghmata with a new and exciting vehicle. The rules are great and for those with the Taghmata list you should find it on page 55.

Hosting some impressive weapon options and a great special rule, 'Servi rig', allowing embarked models with the Battlesmith rule to use it from inside the vehicle.

Here's the official Forgeworld fluff :

Uniquely crafted to the needs of the Magos leading the expeditionary force, Macrocarid Explorators first saw use as frontline combat and mobile command vehicles in the early days of the Great Crusade. Heavily armoured and equipped with the Mechanicum’s signature technologies and weapons, they are now pressed into service on both sides of the cataclysmic battles of The Horus Heresy.

Macrocarid Explorators can transport Magos’ or their units of deadly automata across the battlefield, cutting through any opponent foolish enough to come close with powerful weapons enhanced by augury scanners. Their heavy armour makes them as durable as the Legiones Astartes Land Raider, with the addition of extensive self-repair systems.

Rules for using the Macrocarid Explorator in Mechanicum armies in Horus Heresy games can be found in The Horus Heresy: Mechanicum – Taghmata Army List.

The Mechanicum Macrocarid Explorator includes optional weapons for the vehicle’s sponsons and hull mounting points. A pair of lascannon or two irradiation engines may be fitted to its sponson mounts, whilst a mauler bolt-cannon and a graviton imploder are available as hull mounted weapons.

At £90 I think it's great value for money and will make a fantastic addition to any Mechanicum cohort.

Let us know what you think guys!

As ever - For the Emperor! (And the Omnissiah ;p)

Agents of the Imperium

Hello Bunnie followers. Tonight I've decided to look at the fast approaching army list builds that will invevitably be gracing 30K battle fields far and wide.
With the future release of Inferno and a full set of rules for Custodes and Sisiters of Silence for the 30K battle sphere several of the Bunnies including myself are gearing up for war to include the Agents of the Emperor, Master of Mankind within are legion lists and as seperate co-horts to fuel our narrative gaming arcs. Hey it's fluffy it's what we do :)

I myself have invested via a well known auction site in several sets of Custodes to achieve this. Now that's not everyone's cup of tea but I figure if I want a sizeable force before full miniature release its the only way to achieve it without buying multiple sets.

The models are hands down fantastic. And as you may have seen from our previous posts regarding un-boxing of BoP and the new open future releases things are heading in a big direction for agents of the imperium in the 30K setting.
The Custodes are bar far my ultimate addition to my Imperial Fist lists and I can't wait to have enough to have them striding to war alongside my forces.
I will be looking at running a Guardian Squad a Sentinel Squad and a HQ Squad of one other which I'm yet to decide until the full rule set is released.

For others the Sisters of Silence hold a calling that many have waitied a long time for. As yet we haven't seen any additions with the Custodes already having heavy support in the form of the Calidus arriving from FW after the recent open day events.
Head over to our FB page for a great unboxing vid by Drake of the new Custodes Grav tank in all its resin glory.

Now these ladies pack a serious punch and I see a significant set of upgrades and weapon packs on the horizon. Feel free to post what you think they should have below and even what you think they should have acces too.

For me personally I'm looking forward to a full set of rules that will allow for them to be integrated with Malcadors Agents forming a true agents of the imperium list and FOC with additional support from the assassin clades also. Maybe even further iterations of the fledgling inquisition/grey Knights with other agents of Malcador included later down the line.

For me the ability to use Garro and Rubio with Constantine Valdor and others sets me on a hobby knife edge for just pure fluff list building joy.

So what we want to know from you guys is, what are your plans for Custodes and Sisters heavy lists, how are you going to incorporate them into your legions?
And just how many Custodes are too many? ;)

Comment and post below, and as ever the Bunnies look forward to discussing it with you the readers!

Balanced Lists and what makes yours 'Fluffy'

So tonight Bunny followers I delve into that great question when it comes to 'Lists'.
What to take and why?

There's been some lengthy talk between us in the Battle Bunnie camp regarding what to take when facing certain opponents. I thought I'd discuss the ever existant conundrum of when to build and list and when to go 'Fluffy'.

As you can see above one of my favourite characters from the Imperial Fists is Senechal Rann.
Mainly because he's Sigismund's best mate, he prefers assault tactics and he eventually, like Sigismund, becomes a Chapter Master during the second founding.

So what to do?

Now like the rest of the Bunnies I like to go for a Fluff feel. Why, well your list has to have 'Character' and by that I mean a back story, a history, something that has a narrative that you automatically bring to the table.
That way you have a vested interest when it comes to painting them and using them in battles.

I have a few go to units I like to include all the time. As a result my lists usually include some kind of assault based unit, a few light tanks and then some infantry. I then adjust my HQ's and heavy support according to the potential rival army.

Some might say you could be heading for a downward spiral. Not many Fluff lists will stand the tide to the insane 'super mega death-star math hammered' lists out there floating around the interweb and blogosphere.

My question really is where do you as our readers stand?

Do you have a unit that you use every time and build around?

Or do you play a certain way and pick you list accordingly?

Is there a LoW choice you always select or do you have a couple you chose from?

This is the bulk of my go-to units if you like. With a smattering of heavy support and one of my LoW's.

With the Shadow Crusade weekender coming up to which several of us will be attending we'd like to hear your thoughts.

Comment below and we'll take on the discussion :)

Imperial Space Marine: Imperial Fist

Good evening blog followers and welcome to another re-visioning of a iconic model to a Legion specific character.

For many who follow us here you're well aware of our passion for the Hobby and our love for all things Heresy and Legion. When the re-vamped release of the 2016Imperial  Space Marine model came out I knew I had to have one and had to find some way of fitting it into my army.

I've decided to use him to represent a Veteran it Vet Sgt from a Tactical squad.

For those of you who can remember far enough back like me *ahem-cough* showing my age now! Then you will we'll remember the original marine as depicted in the rear of the box.

You can see on the lower right hand side the metal figure the new plastic has been modelled after. It was an icon of its age and to this day represents a golden age in miniatures from GW.

So the I present to you my take on the Imperial Fist Legion version. I hope you like him!

I think the addition of a FW MK VI shoulder pad really makes it stand out.
The Lamenters yellow glaze really makes the yellow mix I use for my armour 'pop' and I have to say it was a real joy to paint.

I tried to keep the scheme simple to allow the model to show off its potential. The Crimson Fist variant on the box is very similar in its minimal approach to the colour scheme but the detail on the mini would easily lend itself to a more intricate use of colour for certain areas of the armour.

For me it truly represents a set of Articifer armour.

Anyway I hope you all enjoy feel free to comment and ask questions below.

As always 'For the Emperor!'

Imperial Fists Mastodon Part 1

Hello guys and welcome to the first installment of my Imperial Fists Mastodon build.
Darien and I were amongst the lucky few to get our hands on one of these fantastic new kits.

Why the two build posts?

Well it's fair to say that with all new kits there are some differences in people's experiences and issues with building them. So as the good wide reaching blog that we are Darien and I hope to enable everyone who ventures into building one of these with the widest depth of knowledge on potential issues pitfalls and work arounds so you all have an enjoyable experience.

We have some shared issues and some slightly different ones so hopefully this will help everyone :)

First up the wash!

I didn't have many issues in this area in fact after an overnight soak and then a brush up with a nail brush and a tooth brush all parts seemed to be clean of any  mould release.

I started with some of the easy stuff to get it out of the way and not in necessarily the order in the instructions.
This is a personal preference as it means I don't have to worry about it and go back to it later.
So I cleaned up and then 'heat shaped' the track sections to fit the main track assembles.

I did this by heating them in a bowl of hot water *be careful kids* and then pressing them into the recesses to ensure a nice fit and that the track sections blended into the main assembly.

Next up was cleaning up, cutting, shaving material off, filing and test fitting the floor sections.
This took forever and I didn't take WIP shots of his process.
I also fitted the doors and the hinges to the sides including the additional interior detail. I've purposely left off the hydraulic rams as I'll be painting the inside I wanted to make sure I made it as easy for my self as possible.

A point to note is that fitting one side to the floor sections is a good way forward not only is it advised in the instructions,  Blake Spencer himself advised both myself and Darien on the intricacies of the main hull section. Once that's built the rest goes together fairly easily, he said lol.

As you see this dry fit shows that the kits aren't perfect and so some heating of parts maybe required to ensure a good fit.

The superstructure was a bit of a pig for me and took a while of shaving material filing and sanding to get the fit just right.

Unfortunately this is an 'after shot'. What I've done here is to modify it slightly, as with Darien's, my rear ramp doesn't fit. So I've taken the alternative measure to remove a small lip on the lower part of the super structure either side of the 'V' section very carefully so it looks to be normal.
As a result the rear ramp now folds up into the superstructure a treat :)

I'll be following up soon in part two with additional build parts I plan on make the turret next so that everything is ready for priming and base coat.
I hope this helps and if you have any questions or comments below feel free.

Until next time, The Emperor Protects!

Legion Praetor Tribune - Making him Yours part II

So for those of you that saw part one of the journey you'll remember this guy. For those of you who haven't go check out my post of how to make a Tribune yours.

Now  I've been using a tip that Mark Bedford put me on to which if I'm honest I would not have done but it works.

Stage one Black undercoat.

Followed by the white one.

So here we have the pieces prepped to go. Now at this point the legs were not glued onto the base as that would be painted seperate. But I did check it for fit ensuring the pinned legs were still sitting right.

The next stage was a base coat of Averland Sunset.

Here you can see I've gone over the model with Agrax in the areas that with either be detailed later or turned into gold trim for the armour.

I then went in a blocked out the black areas and then detailed the White. I also painted the head.

As you can see by this point he was really coming on.

I then began detailing the model and blocking out any additional areas with a mix of Averland Sunset and Flash Gitz yellow.

Here you can see the detailing on the shield I added that has the Phalanx Warden detail on the right shoulder pad.

Base painted and legs glued in place. Next was the full build.

And here he is in all his glory.

Now I've purposely missed out 2 steps here of my normal process for finishing this model. As some of you will have seen from previous posts I have yet to add any transfers. This is a personal thing that I'm working on. Until I have it right with all the varnishes etc in place I'm waiting out on this step.

Also with this particular model I haven't given him a glaze of Lamenters Yellow.
The reason being is I'm undecided whether he actually 'needs' it. I plan to paint my remaining Tacticals and then go from there seeing how the paint scheme stands next to those.

I hope you've enjoyed following this. Due to factors outside of my control I wasn't able to post this last week but it was worth the wait.

As usually feel free to ask any questions and comment below.

Until next time. The Emperor Protects.
