Zone Mortalis: Life Sustainers - Part 4

Hi all

More Life Sustainer objective pieces done now!

These Haemotrope Reactors can be used as Plasma pump units whereby sabotaging the piece would create chaos on nearby decks etc.

It was very fun to paint, but once again I don't like the thought of there being blood or martyrs going round and round. There is grim dark and there is silly.

It is pretty cool to see the units being connected to each other too.

So that I think is a total of 7 possible objectives. So I could almost count the Life Sustainer part as complete.

Zone Mortalis: Life Sustainers - Part 3

Hi all

Here is Part 3 of my Zone Mortalis Life Sustainers.

This is a unit that I undercoated Mechanicum standard Grey.

I edge chipped with a mix of dryad bark, Abaddon black and Warplock Bronze.

It was washed all over with a mix of Agrax Earthshade, Nuln oil and Klear.

Additional weathering was applied with the Forge World Weathering powder range (inc the green one for mossy grime streaks).

A nice addition to the board. That is a total of 5 out of 8 possible objectives on the Life Sustainer mission.

Zone Mortalis: Life Sustainers - Part 2

Hello all

So I have finished another piece for the Zone Mortalis Life Sustainer objective pieces. This time it is the pipe work and control panels!

I sprayed black first then did the Leadbelcher bits with layering and drybrush techniques.
I tried to follow the paint guide on the box for the brass work but it was so wrong it wasn't funny.
So I made a mix of 1:1 Warplock Bronze to Balthasar Gold. Painted this on the main structure and avoiding the Leadbelcher bits. Then I did a Balthasar Gold coat on the secondary pipe segments which run along the main pipe (bypass pipes).
I then inked each part with Nuln oil and once again it screws me over!
See. Nuln Oil is a temperamental devil.

Then I had to layer the brass colours back up with drybrush and layering techniques.

The Leadbelcher washed with Nuln Oil segments were then chipped and weathered with sponge and old firm paintbrushes with Ironbreaker.

So the control panels can act as 2 of the 8 objectives that I might need for the Life Sustainers Wrecker mission. So that is 4 in total now which is great.

Stay tuned for more soon. Also, Freki and Geri will be on the blog completed tomorrow if you want to see my finished Wolf Kin!

Zone Mortalis: Life Sustainers - Part 1

Hello all

A little while ago I acquired some Resin Mechanical Terrain pieces. I purchased them as objective pieces which I could use for our games.
Currently amongst many other projects, I am trying to get a board together for a "Blood in the Void" Campaign set around the battle of Phall.
To do this, depending upon the size of the ship you want to base it upon, you need between 3 and 7 Key objective pieces of terrain. I am planning on knocking all out in turn, and for now the first I decided to get done and out of the way was the Life Sustainers.

So for the Life Sustainers Wrecking mission you need: D6+2 objective markers on the table. These markers represent gas conduits, pressure seals and rad-sinks.
Personally I will count these two as Rad-sinks.

I plan to add a series of Pipe work segments, tanks and some control panels to this to hopefully give the impression of a Terrain piece, which is used to allow the crew to survive on a Starship.

And for scale alongside my Vlka Fenryka:

Well that's all for now. Part 2 coming soon.
