Horus Heresy Weekender Final Thoughts

Hi all

After an amazing Horus Heresy Weekender, myself and the other bunnies would like to share with you our final thoughts.

Drake Seta
What was your most impressive announcement?
My favourite announcement was the fact that Forge World will be doing more background information on Knight houses (homebrew and existing) and more background information on Titan Legios.
Your favourite Seminar and why? Conquest. We had best seats in the house and learnt all about the upcoming book. Really excited for the Campaign toolbox to help develop characters and create your own, which have the possibility of dying in the larger conflict! Imagine the stories and the formation of Legends in your own little Sector!
Your favourite model preview and why?
Vulkan stole the show, he looks incredible. Holding him in your hand and seeing the textures is breathtaking. My no1 Primarch by a pip now. Otherwise; the Gal Vorbak are 10/10 and so is the Mechanicum Conveyor.
What are you now most looking forward to?
A year of Primarchs. Unsure if 5 is possible in a year but I hope they give it a good shot.
What could Forge World add to future events or change?
I would love to see Matt Kane do a cabinet full of stage by stage Legion paint schemes so you can see how he gets his effects and at what stage. Otherwise, I want battle maps to help play out conflicts, Decals and a big "how to paint your Legions" book so other Collectors can start building their Legions. Those Horus Heresy Masterclass books are priceless. The techniques you can learn from them are skill changing.

What was your most impressive announcement?
Calth is coming!
Your favourite Seminar and why? Forge World previews! So good to see new stuff!!
Your favourite model preview and why?
Vulkan, probably the nicest sculpt I have ever seen...
What are you now most looking forward to?
I really want the campaign toolkit from Book 4: Conquest
What could Forge World add to future events or change?
Do more seminars that are smaller but cover the same content. More effective and efficient queues - We were in one for 1:30hrs!!!

Mega Nobb
What was your most impressive announcement?
Vulkan lives!
Your favourite Seminar and why? Shattered legions because it was all about iron hands
Your favourite model preview and why?
Vulkan, he's beautifle
What are you now most looking forward to?
Starting my gorgonites
What could Forge World add to future events or change?
More personalized interaction with the writers and staff would be fantastic

What was your most impressive announcement?
I liked the announcement regarding new information on the Knight houses. Also, I was very intrigued that there will be legion specific relics. Anything that will add a bit more individuality to the legions will only make things more fun in my opinion.
Your favourite Seminar and why?
Forge World upcoming models, because I go my first look at the Gal Vorbak which I has been looking forward to since I read First Heretic about 6 months ago, and the models are just fantastic
Your favourite model preview and why?
Aside from the Gal Vorbak, I would have to say Vulkan. Even though I did not get a very good look at him, from what I did see, I can say he is possibly one of the best single model I have ever seen.
What are you now most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to seeing the rules for the Imperial Army to see how they are different form guard in 40k
What could Forge World add to future events or change?
I can not think of anything that my other bunnies have mentioned for this question so I will refer you to their answers :-)

Your favourite Seminar and why?
I really enjoyed the new models seminar. You always get that excited feeling to find out what is coming soon. We weren't disappointed, seeing new models for the Solar Auxilia and also for the Primarch Vulkan.
Your favourite model preview and why?
Vulkan! As I am the bunny in charge of the Salamanders this is particularly interesting for me. As shown in my post reveal I believe this to be the best Primarch released so far. A special mention must also go to the Gal Vorbak as they look like a beautiful unit.
What are you now most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to seeing what they do with the shattered legions in Conquest. With talk of new rites and rules post-Isstvan V, I'm intrigued to see how this plays out and also what roles they will play for future endeavours and engagements.
What could Forge World add to future events or change?
I do believe a better organisation is needed. When arriving to queue for items, it took us over 90 minutes to reach the front to purchase! A little slow that could be rectified by better flow and more tills would easily solve that!

If you have any further question then please put them comment below. Also, if you were lucky enough to attend the event, please let us know what you thought.

Take care

  1. HH Masterclass book is something coming out?

    1. No word of that as of yet. We are lead to believe that FW may bring out their own HH paint range so possibly a book to coincide with that? This is unconfirmed though

    2. If there is anything like that you are wondering about, might be with emailing their customer support as they do respond to questions and can help to prompt future ideas

  2. Also did they say how many Primarch models to be released this year?

    Thank you again guys!

    1. Not sure with the number of primarchs, although with having both Mortarion and Vulkan done it leaves Edgar and Simon to work on 2 primarchs side by side. Could see 2 by end of the year, maybe more maybe less. Depends on the times, sculpting, availability etc

    2. Hey War Pig. It was amusing as at the pub Quiz someone sculpted a pig with a Bazooka out of Playdough and Laurie Goulding referred to it as a War Pig, was wondering if you had somehow got there :)
Edgar has been taken off Primarch Project (to his glee) to work on the Imperial Army range. So at this stage I am not sure. Steve W has released some fantastic pieces, maybe it is time for him to have a bash? We should still see 2 more by end of year regardless.

  3. Also to add to my post;

Favourite announcement: book about the scattered legions, having Conquest featuring 2 of my armies it will be very interesting to see how after isstvan they are made to adapt. I also like the idea of relics, will definitely add a new spin to objectives and legion playability also

  4. Your favourite Seminar and why?

It would have to be the seminar introducing the new models; while there was nothing for my forces specifically they all looked amazing.

Your favourite model preview and why?

I would have to say Vulkan as well! He looked amazing

Shattered legions details, the campaign kit in Conquest and of course, more Raven Guard (although no new models in the immediate future)

What could Forge World add to future events or change?

I agree that a better system is needed for buying things at the start of the event. It was very confusing and I was also stuck in the queue for absolutely ages! Id also say it would be nice to have more of a Black Library element, as it felt a bit lacking this year (don’t get me wrong, I loved this event… I just felt that last years was more ‘balanced’) It could have been the fact that neither Dan Abnet nor Graham McNeil where there. Also, more gaming tables!! :)

  5. Ok so Bunnies I have a question/idea for you. Seeing as there are no new legions/primarchs coming in Conquest, this leaves the door open to get other primarch sculpts out. Now I think it is really possible for Forge World to get a total of 5 primarch models out and this is what I think; With Horus and Mortarion already out, I say that Vulkan comes in July (seeing as he's already finished) as for the other two primarchs, I believe that it will be Dorn (with the release of Conquest at games day, this way every primarch from that book will be out) and Corax during the holidays (equivelant to last years Lorgar, and after all he was suppose to be number 6) what are your thoughts? :)

    1. We may see a slow down as Edgar has been taken off Primarch duty to continue the stunning range of Solar Auxilia! I do still think we will see 2 more this year so my guess is:
      Corax at Games Day
      Perturabo for Christmas

I think Curze will likely be pushed back until a duel with Lion El' Jonson. Guilliman will hopefully be Games Day next year and the rest filled in between now and then. I am glad that Conquest is a catch up book :)

  6. I am hoping Corax is next, not just from a selfish 'its my legion' point of view. It would be nice to have some more loyalist Primarch's out!

    1. It would balance it out a bit. Also as Corax and Perturabo are relatively unadorned it could be a possibility if they wanna knock some out.

    2. Agreed, and I am sure the Iron Warrior fans would love the lord of Iron!

    3. It was apparently dropped that it will be Curze next to finish book 2 Massacre off.
Time to start my third Legion.

    4. That would make sense! My good friend who was with me at the weekender will be very, very happy to add him to his Night Lords! He has worked very hard on getting them to the size they are so it will be a welcome addition. He just needs to find people to play who are near(ish) to Watford!
