Conquest; Campaign Toolkit - Part 1

Hey Bunnies!

So the dust has settled on another massive book release from Forge World and I have to say it is one of the best so far!

I have to say that I was very excited when Alan Bligh announced that their was a Campaign toolbox inside - that would help groups conduct their own stories in the Age of Darkness. Even though this is not directed towards the Great Crusade, we will be using it in our campaigns - maybe with some small homebrew changes.

Today is going to be the first part in a series I will do discussing the toolbox. I will not be giving too much away - seriously, go buy the book you won't regret it - but I will be looking at how the group will use this fantastic tool.

Running a Conquest Campaign:

The first thing to do is work out the amount of players and who is on which side. We will predominantly be using Imperium vs Other (Laer, Eldar, Orks, Hrud etc) during our Great Crusade, but it is actually designed for Loyalists vs Traitors. I like that the sides don't need to have the same amount of players as it will enable multi-legion compliances! Epic...

The campaign's size and depth is determined by currency known as 'Reserve points'. At the start of the campaign everyone has the same amount of points which measures the amount of manpower, ordnance etc that a player has at his disposal.

The campaign system itself is designed for one of the Heresy Era factions (Legion, Mechanicum etc). As our campaigns will be from the Imperium's perspective, I don't see much of an issue to use it with other, non-Heresy armies. If we want to design progression and Strategic traits for a Corsair Prince who escaped a Night Lord ambush, then we will tackle it when required (pretty exciting too actually lol!)

That's all I will say for now. In my next  post I will look at Warzone Creation.

Ciao for now

  1. Looking forward to your opinion on the Warzones. From what I have flipped through it actually adds another layer of tacticality to our battles.
