Castiel Druas: An Introduction

Hello Everybody!

I am the Battle Bunnies worst guarded secret - it's new Fifth member! So I have been asked to write an intro of myself and discuss my contributions to the future of the blog and my history in the hobby!

I have played Games Workshop on and off for many years. Drake and Kaelo introduced me to the hobby when we were very young and the stories have always been a massive draw for me as I thoroughly enjoy fiction.

My past projects include a Warhammer 40,000 Dark Angels army - my first ever army and a big Necron army which I still own! I loved the fluff and design aesthetic from the first codex, although I am not such a big fan of the more recent fluff (WTF is a C'Tan shard!! Was much cooler having Gods rocking around the board!). I also started an Eldar Craftworld but I have no idea where they are now lol.

So what about future projects? Well, of course, I will be taking on the Dark Angels (of which, I already own a large force just waiting to be started).

I will also be taking on the Word Bearers, mainly the Horus Heresy era red marines (although I have also taken over the grey ones too). I am going to start with the Dark Angels and get a sizeable force complete, using the Rite of War from book 6 when it comes. Then I shall wait for the extended fluff, whenever that may drop, and continue with Word Bearers.

My favourite legion is the Dark Angels and my favourite Primarch is the Lion - I think this is mainly due to the darkness and mystery that has always been there in the history. Very cool legion and I can't wait to see the direction the novels go and where Forge World takes the legion design. I have a feeling the Lion is going to be a complete boss!

I am really looking forward to digging in to the novels and reading the stories surrounding the Legions (as I have said; I love the history!). I am also looking forward to playing out those stories for our readers enjoyment! I am hoping that working with the Battle Bunnies I can improve my painting skills and I can't wait to share the whole experience with you all.

Stay tuned 😊

  2. Castiel. Welcome to Battle Bunnies. So good to have you back after all these years. The Horus Heresy and Great Crusade is a much better setting than the 41st millenium. Looking forward to you getting to Descent of Angels!

    1. Once I have read the books I'm sure I will have plenty of fluff discussions around both legions the more controversial the better!! :-)

  6. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Knights of caliban. Not really seen many 30k DA armies yet so I guess you pretty much have free reign at the moment.
And you haven't read the HH novels yet!? You don't know what you're missing!! :-)

    2. You need to check out the two DA HH books, some Shortstories (you can get them as e-shorts for cheap @ BL site), Unremembered Empire aswell as probably the Unforgiven - while this is a 40k books, it should be pretty interesting for you :)

    3. Not that i wish to rain on any ones parade but I've read all HH so far and I have to say that the first DA book is the worst of the series!! Or is that just my opinion?!

    5. Haha- true but a very good book! Given how much I liked it I felt that Cybernetica was a let down!! Whereas Descent of Angels is just rubbish!!

    6. Hm, i liked both Cybernetica and the first DA book^^ maybe most ppl disliked the first book 'cause it is mostly about Caliban pre-Legion?

    7. Ive got nothing against the DA and I really wanted to know about them and Caliban pre legion, but I just thought it was really badly written! My copy has two Chapters 7 as well!!
Regarding Cybernetica maybe my disappointment is that it wasn't the story I was thinking it would be!!

    8. well, Cybernetica was probably bad avertised, that's true

and it's a while since i read the DA novel tbh, i just remember that the end was a little bit mäh^^ but the pre-legion stuff was pretty cool ^_^

    9. The pre-legion stuff and the history of the chapter and certain roles such as Cypher was good but its the overall story that was a bit meh!!
And yeah I think Cybernetica was definitely some false advertising!! But thats just my opinion!!

  10. Welcome =)

Can't wait to see some Dark Angels action (well, althought I'm no longer such a big fan of them after reading the latest books >.<)!

Will you go the metallic red or flat red route for the Word Bearers?
