THE LAST RESIN THUNDERHAWK! OFFICIAL!!!

We have just finished at the Horus Heresy Throne of Skulls. During the Award ceremony it was officially announced that the last ever Thunderhawk Gunship was available in the Forge World Shop. "IT WILL NOT BE RE-STOCKED!!!"

So bye ol' girl.

Hello plastic flying myth.

  1. Time to get saving and working out how a Shadowhawk differs!

  3. Nice. All the pieces are in place for a plastic release.

  4. Will be good to get a plastic version. Could also be a good thing to launch with the new game edition for more veteran players. I also wonder what variants will be possible in plastic. Alternate primary weapons are obvious but would they go for alternate secondaries such as bombs, missiles, more than seen before?

Begin rampant speculations and wish listing.

  5. It's both a happy and sad moment. If a plastic one comes out I'll be able to afford it much sooner. However it won't be the old resin one.

    2. Which is tiny in comparison to resin one! And bloody heavy (esp in the wooden crate mine is still in! Ha ha)

  8. Wait, did they say last ever Thunderhawk? Last ever FW Thunderhawk? Or last ever resin Thunderhawk?

    Phrasing is important!

    1. Well, if it's going "main stream" plastic, I guess no more FW, hello GW.

    2. "No more FW, hello Citadel."

      Fixed.

  9. They said via email the other day that the mould needed extensive reworking/remaking (which would take a while), and if the master was damaged, it would take months for the guys to fix in their spare time before a new mould could be made - unless it was damaged too badly, in which case a new variant would have to be sculpted.

    1. Text of the email:
"Thanks for contacting us. For the Thunderhawk we are having to carry out some extensive repair work to the master model used to make the moulds for it before we can produce any more. To do this our designers have to be taken away from the projects they are currently working on and so can only do this in their spare time.
As such this repair work can sometimes take quite a while unfortunately and sometimes the repairs needed are not possible so it could be that the Thunderhawk will not return in it's previous form. If this is the case then it's likely that we will produce a brand new version of it at some point in the future. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused."

    2. To be honest that is the standard reply when something is off for repair/redesign/temporarily unavailable.

  10. That being said I got one of the last ones (a month and a half ago) and there were some MAJOR issues with the cast. I contacted FW a support and they were great about sending out new pieces... that had the exact same issues.
