Ahmose Setu

Hi all!  I’m Ahmose Setu and I’m proud to announce that I’m the latest recruit to Battle Bunnies.  I’ve been reading the blog on an almost daily basis for the last couple of years to get my daily hobby fix, so it will great to actually contribute!

I was slowly tricked into starting the hobby, by the same person who got Darien hooked again.  I tested the waters by getting a small 1000pt Blood Angel force together, which was interlaced with a few FW units after a year of frantic painting.  This whet my appetite for all the amazing models in the FW range. Fast forward a year and Ikthelion managed to get me into Heresy as well.

I really struggled to pick a Legion at first, but eventually settled on Death Guard. I picked them as I found a great way to paint them up quickly, whilst still looking good(hopefully!), as I was determined to amass a sizeable force within a year. I’ve managed to get a force to just over the 3k mark and have had the opportunity to put them to the test them in battle the last few months.  I’m lucky as I only live an hour away from Warhammer World, so Ikthelion and Darien have been frequent opponents.  I also had the pleasure of attending the doubles event in January with Ikthelion – but it’s probably best if I don’t talk about our performance!

I managed to secure a copy of Inferno from the Heresy weekender just as I was running out of steam with my Death Guard.  Needless to say, I fell in love with the Thousand Sons in terms of lore, models and paint scheme.  I’ve set myself a lofty ambition of trying to collect 10k in a year from the start of this month.  I’m looking forward to spending a bit more time on getting them built, painted and based than I did on the Death Guard.  The reason being I can game with the XIV now got a force I can game with now, so there is not so much of a rush to get the XV ready for war.

I’m looking forward to being able to share more of Death Guard on the blog, and document my Thousand Sons as the legion assembles!  I’m hoping over my next couple of posts to break down the composition of my Death Guard.  Hopefully the below photos will give you a flavour of what’s to come!

How are you doing your Thousand Sons? Metallics or flats?

    1. Cheers Colonel! I'm going to do them with a metallic scheme. I'm hoping to get a few underway in time for Sunday.

  4. Welcome Ahmose. 10k points of Thousand Sons is quite a target. I will try to amass a similar Vlka force (lucky I have allies I guess lol!).
I love how you did your Death Guard too. Looking forward to facing them on Isstvan 3.

    1. Thanks Drake - hopefully Prospero will have a different ending. Given my less than stellar gaming record though - I think the Sons might still be in trouble!

  6. I quite like your basic basing on the Death Guard. Do the markings all link up into a larger design?
Gaming wise how do find the Sicaran Venator? I'm thinking of getting one for my Raven Guard since it's basically a big sniper!

    1. Cheers - the bases are from Secret Weapon Minis. That would have been very cool if they did - I wish I'd thought of it at the time.

I have a bit of a soft spot for my Venator. I adore the model. Having said that, mine is notoriously unreliable. It has on occasion spent entire games pinging shots off its counterpart with neither doing anything! I could definitely see it fitting well in a Raven Guard force though.

If you do get one - I would keep the gun separate to get it painted!
