Very nicely done FW. Not a massive fan of he masks but they do look brutal. Rumours from way back were that Slayers would get multiple upgrade kits, so is this (5 heads 5 pads 1 torso 1 backpack 5 axes and 5 shields) the first of these multiple upgrade kits or is the kit broken down as weapons, pads, heads?
Little dissapointed with the legions of nagash battletome. Seems a bit of a tie us over for the campaign rather than an expansion of models and factions into a true grand alliance
The shields look amazing, just still wish the SW would get helmets. Also wish the arms were a little more dynamic, like swinging the axe and raising the shield. But they are nice.
When Mark bedford told that 30k SW will be very different from those of 40k...Yes indeed SW became caricature of themselves...Remember the Shaman in power armour he was great!
Spectacle helms would be cool, but myself and others have nee making use of Imperial Fist and Iron Warrior helms for these. The IW helm with the chevrons in particular has a great shape for a Sutton Hoo like helmet.
My big thing is that I hope there will be more than one torso in the upgrade kit, as I have used a lot of the SW torsos in my army and I want these guys to really stand out
Leathermasks. They gave them leathermasks. I've laughed and shook my head when I read the -apart from that great- book and now they really did it. Laughable.
Heads are comically big. They are larger than any helmet. Same problem as with the new Praetor. FW should upp their quality control for non-Primarch non-vehicle models.
Myself personally as a VIth love the upgrades and cannot wait to get them! But also I must admit that they are little weak compared to other legions and the upgrades they have received.
I am very happy with forgeworld products and the content keeps blowing me away but compared to other years I feel 2017 was a lot slower compared to the releases following years. I am hoping the VIth seed for upgrades and releases.
I know now this is contradictory but I do love the upgrades aesthetically, and will be getting a lot of them! I only want to see more weapon options and more variety in armour.
It’s good to add these pieces to the existing plastic range. Another good thing about the unreleased and book 8 Legions having upgrades since the plastic range was released, is that all parts and designs will be based on the plastic scales and dimensions (so you won’t have beefy Plastics sitting next to skinny resin Legion specific units).

ReplyDeletedo you think you might be able to find out the paints used for the scheme please?
ReplyDeleteHi, Thanks for the pictures they are great.
ReplyDeleteWay back when the rumour was that Grey Slayers were going to get 3 upgrade kits due to the diversity of the unit.
Is this the first of the 3 upgrade kits, or is this the 3 kits combined?
Also now we have seem Varagyr and Grey Slayers, is there any news on the Deathsworn upgrades at all?
Much appreciated for all the info gathering :)
Nice looking upgrades. Will be interesting to see when/if other Legions get shield kits?

ReplyDeleteMight be able to get a better pose if you use despolier squads as a base maybe

ReplyDeleteAny other HH news floating about? Many thanks for the pics an info.

ReplyDeleteFully agree!
DeleteI actually really like that they got the leather masks. I thought that was a nice touch in the Novels.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, i have a few dozen SW troops waiting, hoping for the leather masks. Finally they deliver
DeleteThanks for the update!
