Starting the Solar Auxilia - WIP

So tonight at the Bunny camp we have made a start on our lasrifle section of the Solar Auxilia. We wanted to go for a light ish colour scheme so we went for a silver base with red and yellow. You can see below for our methods.

Firstly we sprayed the models with Chaos Black spray for our undercoat. We then did a drybrush of Ironbreaker to the metals on the army.

Next for the fatigues we used Mephiston Red. We wanted to use a lighter coloured red but not too over the top bright and we are happy with these results.

Our next stage was the padding. For this we used a coat of Averland Sunset. We are happy with the contrast between the colours.

We have done this scheme to a few models so far and you can see below the fruits to our labour's after a couple of hours work. We still have a long way to go but we are enjoying our time so far

We can't wait to dig into these guys more and we will be showing a lot more off in the future don't you worry :D

For now it's a goodbye from us, but stayed peeled for new posts from us as we are very keen to fly through this.

  1. Great blog buddy - just discovered and followed you. Really nice to see some tip top Horus Heresy work going on; I'm a big fan of your Mechanicum in particular. Keep up the good work!

    1. Thanks mate! Really appreciate it. We are always try to be at the front of all Heresy stuff and the world had waited far too long for Mechanicum to be released up til recently!
If you have a 30k army why not try our Legions on Parade (follow links on left).

    1. Me too. Just only difficulty now is getting all of the Bunnies in the same room at same time to continue model train.

  3. How do these guys scale compared to Cadians or Dark Vengeance Cultists? Forgeworld sometimes models its humans on the short and skinny-looking side: how would they look in a combined force?

    1. They are similar in stature to the Cadians and actually somehow look good alongside Legionnaires. Would have to say they are the most detailed and well presented minis I have ever seen from FW (-Primarchs ofcourse)

    2. Awesome, thanks for the reply! Now you mention it, the visored masks and heavy chest armour gives them a look which thematically echoes that of a Marine's power armour. In the right colour scheme, you could probably team them up with a Marine contingent and have them look like a single force.
