Solar Auxilia. A delve into. Part 1.

Hi there everyone. So the Dust from Conquest is settling and we are all having a real good read through this tome.

I have decided to have a look into the options available to the Solar Auxilia in two parts. Here is part one.

List:

Legate Commander upgradable to a Lord Marshal. He is a Leadership buffer to the army whilst on the table. He can also be given a Cyber Familiar so I can use my Imperial Enforcer model with Mastif as one of our HQs

Auxilia Tactical command section comprises of 2 -7 Veterans, a lieutenant ranked office, a Comms operator and a banner bearer. This is an HQ choice and gives you a one shot orbital bombardment.

Auxilia Tank Commander is a veteran Tank commander which has several special rules including leadership buffing.

Auxilia Medicae detachment as you can imagine; you buy one, join it to a unit, unit gets Feel no pain.

Auxilia Rapier Battery is what it says on the tin.

Auxilia Ogryn Charonite squad. These will look great judging by the Fact Forge World are doing them. Rules are great, they are designed to be a heavy hitting close combat unit employed in boarding actions, breaches etc. they have 2 sets of mechanical claws which are very nasty.

Enginseers. Similar to existing choices.

Tercio. A Tercio can have 1-3 options in one troop choice. This includes a 20 man Lasrifle section, Storm section and Auxilia Flamer support section. The Storm section doesn't appear to be a Support section at first glance which means a gamer could completely avoid the Lasrifles.

Lasrifle section. Now the Solar Auxilia all have void armour giving them a better than flak save. The Lasrifle has a longer range too. They also have an option for Blast Chargers which give them a Fury of the Legion style attack. As these are the meat of the army, you may need about 60 of them before you start denting your army points limit.

This is slowly turning into a very nice army with some strong core features to them. Hopefully it won't be too long before we start seeing them on battlefields.

Come back for part 2 soon.

  1. It's great to see these figures in other (non studio) paint schemes. They look super epic...almost something out of bioshock soldiers.
