Pre-Heresy Salamanders: Dreadnoughts

Howdy Guys and Girls :)

I moved this week to my new apartment, that means i have internet problems, so I'll make it short :/

Next week you will get more Salamanders background, how their Legion is organized, and what tactics they use or eschew.

But ... Dreadnoughts I promised, and Dreadnoughts you shall get!

Ancient Grenn

once of the Realm of Epithemus, now attached to the survivors of Cadre Sulphaeon at Dominica Minor, the last Dragon, the Reaper's prey
[pict-capture: Isstvan V massacre and Raid on Dominica Minor]

Once, Ancient Grenn was Consul-Centurion Shar'rac Grenn of the 3rd company of the Realm of Epithemus, well respected in the Legion for his devotion both to duty and the teachings of Vulkan. The honour markings on his kneepads and the embossed seal of Nocturne on his chestplate recall the glories of his long career, which culminated in the brutal fighting on Isstvan V from which he barely escaped, for all that he knew as the last of his kind, alongside a handful of his brethren. It was on Dominica Minor that the tattered survivors heard rumours of Vulkan's death and the total destruction of their Legion, and when the dread fleet of Mortarion appeared in orbit of their refuge, they pledged to die in its defence rather than flee before their gene-father's murderers ...

Ancient Rakarok

The Dragon of Canedis, formerly known as " Rakarok Skyfire"

A Veteran of the Legion's battles before the XVIIIth was united with its Primarch, Rakarok bears a long list of honours and advanced to the rank of Captain of a Devastator-Cohort of the Realm of Hesiod before his mortal wounding at the Siege of Accatran.

The scales, Deathfire-symbol and tabard are sculpted, I'll make a guide for that in the future :)

Hope you like them :)

regards,
Lady Atia

  2. Great work! I love the scales on the Deredeo, this thing always needs some extra adornments in order to fit with a specific Legion. X^)

    1. Thanks :)

Yeah, the Deredeo really needs some Legion specific stuff if you don't use him for DG/IW's ^^

    1. Thanks - it was pretty cool to " 'mander him up" :D gave me some practise in sculpting and what kind of putty to use (I use an 1:1 milliput and greenstuff mix now)

    2. Sounds interesting. Excited for your guide. I'm bound to get around to collecting a Salamanders force at some point, so i'd love to know how to do this. :)

    3. Milliput and greenstuff. Sounds like garlic and bread to me!
Really looking forward to the guide and this concoction!

    4. The problems i had with pure greenstuff - it doesn't get hard enough. The milliput gives you the strength, the greenstuff makes it smooth - at the end it becomes hard as stone :)

Hope the Internet is sorted soon. We need more pics of you models, and of course any heresy rumours you can pic up.

  7. I gotta admit, I'm a dreadnought junkie. Love the aesthetic. Don't get to field them that often because their rules are usually arse, but at least Forge World acknowledges that walkers are a bit lousy and gives them stuff like atomantic shielding.

  8. Love the Dark forest green. Very similar to the shade I will be adopting. Unfortunately the Emperor gave me 2 left hands and fingers that are about as accurate as toes when it comes to sculpting so I will be looking forward to your scale guide.

The 18th Legion are one that I never had any love for. Then I read Vulkan Lives and I had to do them. Vulkan is in my top 3 Primarch's (his sculpt is probably one of my favourites too).

Keep up the great work :)
