Weekly Progress Report 18/10

Hey there guys, here we are with another week of progress. A nice bag of progress to show you all this week. So im not going to delay this any further, lets do this:

Tylar has been busy and built but not painted 4 rapier artillery carriages, a Typhon and a Vindicator Laser destroyer. The Typhon in question is using the new track style. Very busy boy at the moment!

Kaelo has been washing and scrubbing his Cerastus Knight Acheron and Legion Glaive. He is not really sure why.... He has pretty much finished 1 Ultramarine and is now very happy with the results so finally, we should start to see some proper progress. Recently he purchased a Warhound Titan from eBay and sadly it is missing parts so please expect a post this week asking for support from the community. If you have spare Mars Warhound bits please comment below. He is missing the following:
12 toe pistons
rear toe joints
6 front toe joints
2 void shields
1 censor
2 servitor hatches
2 shoulder plates
2 mid thigh armour

Aveinus has been working on completing his first five Meduson Immortals this week, he will be starting work on another five immortals and a predator tank which is currently being trimmed. The completed Immortals will be shared in a completed unit post in the future!

Drake has been working on various projects again this week. He is indebt to Kaelo several hours of painting time, so has been painting his Ultramarines weapons. He has found the time to scrub and prepare his new Mars-Beta Warlord Head. He has also been working on prep work and learning the Core Conquest rules (and adapting to suit) for our Karrus sector invasion. He has also been creating Star System maps.

Castiel is still on a wash and trim hype at the moment, getting all that he has to this stage and will put paint to brush shortly! This week in particular he has been setting to work on a despoiler squad

I (Darko) have continued to attempt to make progress with his Palatine Blades. The amount of detail has hampered me slightly along with lack of painting time. I only have a couple to do but at this time nothing substantial to warrant a pic but will hope to have these finished by end of next week and will present you with what I have completed so far.

So another week down and, along with yesterday's Open Day, have had a pretty busy week. If you wish to find out our adventures at the Open Day check out our posts from yesterday! Let us know what you think in the comments :)

  2. I only found out last week Dave when I was at WHW. It appears they have finally seen sense and have decided to cast as one piece. I will be completing a Start to Finish of my Typhon for the blog hopefully so I will post it up in kit form to show how it looks.

  3. Is the crew of the new warlord head the same as the other? Any chance of some more inages?

    1. Added. The Princeps is a bit younger and better looking than the Mars Alpha chap. The whole internal layout is pretty much the same.

  4. Looks like good progress on all fronts. shame about Kaelos Warhound. That seems like quite a big list of missing parts.

    4. Ah cool ok, I have that so I'll take another look at it. Got my own campaign coming up which could use some fancy star maps

    5. Star jpeg dropped as background, planets with transparent backgrounds dropped on top (Google them). Then any other overlays u want :)

  6. The Medusan Immortal looks pretty cool so far!

Annoying that the Warhound has missing parts :/

Is it a Mars or Lucius pattern?

    1. Edit: It's a Mars pattern ... gnah ... Lucius parts could be easily scratch build :<

    2. Pistons and joints are the same as the Lucius, but yes the armour will be harder.

    1. From what I understand Brandon Kaelo was aware he just had eBay fever and clicked away ;) lol
We're looking to rectify it between us with either a joint build or a purchase by another BB to keep it in the group.
Most of the parts are easy to replace/replicate or scratch build. The two most annoying parts are the missing thigh armour. But it's early days to worry too much :D

    2. I didn't read the description...

    3. Been there. Almost bought an empty box, for more than i care to admit, because i didn't read the description. Thankfully for me, someone else with a bigger wallet didn't read it either.

  8. So would you guys say the Spartan/Typhon is less of a pain now that the tracks are molded on?

    1. Massively so. No more cutting tracks to fit. No more extra glue. And you no longer have to worry about the tracks being uneven underneath. So the tank sits flat and the tracks are all equal.
They are more akin to the Sicarian or Macharius track sections. Much better for the modeller or painter alike.
You get less of a 'kit' to build, but to be honest it's takes away the one major issue for the kit as a whole.
And as it affects 3 different tanks it's a sensible move from FW's point.

    2. Yeah, I'm not really sure what, if anything, was lost as a result of this. The tracks were already very smooth with nothing fancy going on with the treads, and the way they were laid out it wasn't like you could customize it to make them move or anything.

At worst I suppose you might have to deal with some mold lines or flash in the center of the tracks now, but on that flat a surface that's easy peasy to fix.

    3. I must have really lucked out with my spartan. No real issue putting the tracks on. But boy did i hate trying to clean out that gate at the back of each section.

  9. When did they start moulding the tracks on???
