Emperor's Children: Update 2

Hello!

I have been continuing my work on my Emperor's Children in the background, whilst I work on getting 15 Custodes painted up for the group. I have completed building the 4 15 man tactical squads I was working on. I have added a 5 man lascannon squad and a 5 man plasma support squad to the growing legion.

The lascannon need the cables adding to them.

I plan on doing another 5 man heavy squad and another support squad but I am undecided on what to arm them with. Originally I had planned to have another 5 lascannons and a 10 man support squad with volkite. I am now debating whether I should mix it up a bit more and arm them up differently. What do you think would be good heavy and support squads for the EC's?

Happy hobby!

  1. How about ten volkite and ten heavy volkite? God, I love volkite

    1. Lol! That's a lot of volkite! I love it!

    2. Due to the fact that I am only collecting one marine army ever (world eaters), my goal is ten of each weapon. And of course every unit option.

    3. That will be an awesome army when it's complete!!

  2. I second the volkite option! I've got 10 volkite Culverin to support my 10 man heavy flames and 10 man multi-melta heavy support squads and flamers and melta gun support squads and they are amazing!! Only used them once but killed 18 or so tactical marines!!

    1. It's not bad! Need to up the support squads to be 10 man and get them some rhinos!! The heavy flamers and multi-melta squads also have rhinos for close range death dealing while the volkite Culverin squad sits and the back! Well at least that's the plan!!

    2. I have a couple of rhinos to run the support squads around in, helps them get to where they are needed alive! The culverin do have great range, tempted to add a 5 man squad!

    3. Apologises - I meant I need to up my support squads to 10man and get them rhinos!
Yeah against a marine heavy army a volkite Culverin squad can reach almost anywhere and deny ground! I recommend a 10man squad!

  3. I'd say 5 Culverin and 5 more Lascannons.

    1. I think a culverin squad would be cool! Might see about squeezing them in!

  4. I would love to see some legion specifics in the mix! (Not sure what you're thinking for HQ/lord of war options yet). As far as heavy supports go maybe a sicaran venerator? I use one with my death guard and it's pretty good, a spartan also wouldn't hurt things either in the heavy column. Love the project so far mate

    1. Legion specifics are on the way! I have 20 Palatine blades, 10 pheonix guard and a spartan! I have a venator in my SoH first company and trying not to duplicate options as much as possible across the legions! HQ will be made up of preator, Emperors Champion and a chaplain. I will do some of the named characters as well. Lord of War will most likely be a Thunderhawk!

  5. Kakaphoni are a pretty nasty unit as well, and if I remember correctly they do fill a heavy support roll, but I don't know much about EC. Looking forward to the legion specifics!

    1. I'm not getting any kakaphoni yet! This force is going to be a loyalist element of the legion for some campaigns we have planned! I really like the EC pre heresy and dislike them post! I will probably get some kakaphoni for Istvaan 5 campaign though but after that the legion are dead to me! Lol!

    1. Haha! That's what 110 new on sprue MKIV can do for you!

  7. Definitely make 5 more lascannon marines. Then you could run a big 10 man squad....just like the old emps children fluff about the Sunkillers!!

    1. That was my original intention! :) Then I started thinking about more variety! I'm leaning back towards 5 more lascannons!
