Siege of Terra Seminar

Everything comes to an end. . .

Since 2006, this project has been my favourite aspect of the GW project range.

The Siege of Terra Dawns. . .

They decided on Friday last week who will be writing what stories of the final stretch of this story.

Gav Thorpe & Guy Hayley.

Angron offering terms to the Emperor from the base of the walls (that sounds cool). Not sure if this happens or if this is metaphorical.

They are really trying to end all loose ends to enrich this final stage.

They can’t just focus on the Siege on the wall. They need to focus on the other aspects and setups to do it justice.

It’s very difficult to balance the scale of the conflict from a single character’s perspective.

The conclusion of the perpetual story line.

Guy Hayley will be writing a book with Imperial Army’s perspective on the conflict.

The Horus Heresy will end with the Emperor on the Golden Throne. Then the Scouring could begin, with a different logo on the cover.

Won’t confirm who will be writing the final book.

B. Cawl is in Wolfsbane novel.

Angron will approach the wall and issue terms to Sanguinius.

Khan will fight Fulgrim.

How many books? Can’t say a definite number. They should be relatively punchy on the release schedule.

Keeler will have a role.

The Death Guard’s fall to Nurgle will be before the Siege of Terra mini series (the penultimate).

When The Horus Heresy series finishes, they can envision potentially doing revisit books set within the Horus Heresy timeline. Even if they are taking forward the Scouring.

A Horus Heresy Encyclopaedia is a possibility (but would be a f**king nightmare).

Will they look at the impact of the Siege on the regular citizens? Yes. Minor viewpoints here and there too.

  2. Angron offering terms is straight out of the original Bill King story, Siege of the Emperor's Palace'. It's good to hear they're sticking closely to that!

  3. "For a moment all was silence, then Angron strode forth. In his brazen voice he demanded that the loyalists surrender. He told them that their cause was hopeless, that they faced a foe who could not be defeated. They were cut off, outnumbered, and defending a ruler too weak to be worthy of their loyalty. In that moment the men on the walls felt their resolve weaken. Looking at the transformed face of the Primarch who had been one of the Emperor’s finest warriors, they saw an invincible, relentless foe backed by a numberless horde and all the daemonic might of Chaos.

There was a clamour on the walls as Sanguinius and the Blood Angels arrived. Standing on the wall, the angel winged man glared at Angron with angry contempt. For long moments their gazes locked. Each Primarch seemed to be measuring the other, searching for chinks in the armour, for any sign of weakness, any lack of resolve. Who knows what they saw there? Perhaps they communicated telepathically, brother Primarch to brother Primarch. The truth will never be known. Eventually Angron turned and walked back to his lines. He told his troops that there would be no surrender; they should kill everyone they found within the palace. No stone should be left upon stone."

  4. I won't argue with an eyewitness so close to the Golden Throne itself, but I'm pretty sure that there's a reckoning to be had between the Khan and Mortarion, and in the novel "The Carrion Throne" the main character, an Inquisitor visiting the Palace, gets to see a gigantic engraving of the duel between both on one of the doors that lead to Lion's Gate spaceport, if my memory serves me well. The Khan will need his legendary speed (and the jetbike hinted at) to be at all places at all times. :-D Cheers.

    1. In older stories, the White Scars go after the Emperor's Children when they decide the siege is boring and go raid civilian centers elsewhere. I think it was only in the 2004 or '05 Collected Visions stories when they were written to have taken the Lion's Gate late in the siege. There's time for both!

Though at some point the Khan was said to have ridden "on" a Razorback...

    2. I have the original 'Collected Visions' books in a single volume and indeed there is a mention of a White Scars counterattack against the enemy-held spaceport.

I'd rather have a bored Administratum scribe report his frustration about his comings and goings to the Palace being delayed by "construction activity" like the typical commuter than face the gory details of Fulgrim's antics among the defenceless civilians of Terra, haha. If Graham McNeill gets to write this piece things could turn really awkward.

  5. Love the idea of the last point - that there will be perspectives from citizens and small characters. Personally I think the 'The outcast Dead' is one of the best books in the whole HH novel series.

  6. Wow this is going to be epic! I can’t wait to get my hands on Wolfsbane

  7. It will be nice to have primarch duels with definite endings like lion vs curze. Only so many times two can fight and both walk away alright. I've been waiting for this since Fulgrim.
