The Sons of Horus have been the first legion that I have been working on. I have been concentrating on Abaddons First Company and so far and have completed 5500 points.
The army currently has:
HQ
Abaddon
Chaplian
Troops
30 Justaerin
Fast attack
20 Reavers
1 dreadclaw drop pod
Elites
2 contemptors
Heavy support
Spartan
Land Raider
2 Vindicators
Sicaran Venator
Lords of War
Horus
Mastodon
I have a couple of bits to complete to go with the First Company still but for the time being this part of the 16th Legion will be taking a back seat to the Green side! We are aiming to get the Prospero campaign up and running in the new year and to work along side the Wolves we are expecting to see a small contingent of SoH on the scene.
I am planning on a mostly tactical squad based army that I want to be able to turn into Orbital Assault force over time. I would like to be able to mix and match the green and black together easily but still have both companies play with a different style.
HQ
This will be partly dependant on what Inferno brings but I think in the long run I will use Little Horus Aximand to lead them.
Command squad - Dread Claw
Troops
10 tacticals - Drop pod
10 tacticals - Drop pod
20 tacticals
20 tactical despoilers
Elites
10 Veteran tactical's - Drop pod
10 Veteran tactical's - Drop pod
Fast attack
10 Seekers - Dread Claw
Storm Eagle
Heavy support
2 Leviathans - Dreadnaught drop pod each
Fire Raptor
Kharybdis drop pod
I have always wanted to complete a fully drop army and I am excited to get these guys to the table top next year. A fair portion of the above is already built, the challenge is getting it painted! I will be using my airbrush and forgeworlds paints which will hopefully make them pretty quick and straight forward to paint. Look out for updates in the new year.
Happy hobby!
Darien
I think these look great, can't wait to see more Drop pods!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love drop pods and the idea of a whole army based on them has always appealed to me!
DeleteYou managed to finish an awesome huge force this year :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the greenies - will your seekers get Mark VI armour like in the un-used FW artwork?
Hopefully I can improve on this years performance and get even more done next year!! Lol!
DeleteI'm looking forward to the greenies too! I'm going to use mark IV for the seekers as I own enough spare from BaC!
Do any of the Bunnies have plans for Lunan Wolves? They lose some of their interest to me when they go green 😥
ReplyDeleteI was going to do them. Will see how I feel when I have finished UMs and White Scars. I think Darien is doing them though :)
DeleteAs we need them I will most likely do some! :)
DeleteAny idea if Forgeworld will bring back the Luna (yes auto correct LUNA) Wolves transfer sheet?
DeleteHopefully being updated to newer style transfers. If not going to make them a bit more challenging to do!

ReplyDeleteWow.... you really have made the 1ST company larger then life!
ReplyDeleteWhen I read Horus Rising all those years ago the Justaerin were larger then life! Garviel was always impressed by there cold proficiency.
How has this force been on the table too for campaigns... it seems like it would move nicer!
Nicely not nicer.. sorry
DeleteThanks! :) They have preformed well on the tabletop, low model count is always its biggest issue but they are really resilient! It's amazing what the 2nd wound does to improve terminators. The other problem I have encountered is holding objectives, the Justaerin are the troops but I also need them to carry out a lot of the killing. The 2 elements don't go well together and you have to choose between them!
DeleteHi, I managed to do a conversion for Aximand.
ReplyDeleteI have used the torso of a reaver then I bought the boarding upgrade from forge World, and i use the head of a sargent from betrayal at calth. That head is perfect because it have no expresion as the character and it is similar to Horus. And the upgrade set will give you his power sword and his boarding shield, that he uses to smash the enemys.
I have mine painted, his sword is clean but the shield is plenty of blood.
Awesome, sound great! Do you have a link to any pictures? I had also planned on using BaC head. It looks like a smaller version of Horus'! I have an idea that I might use for him but depends on what inferno brings to the table!

DeleteIt's a great approach. You have two distinct forces, but they are one so will look pretty impressive on the shelf. And you can mix them to create different flavours.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It should create a really flexible army over time which I can grab different elements from as needed to suit the situation.
