Kaelo Rylanus; Ultramarine Project Finally Begins! (Again)

Hello everybunny!

I hope that Christmas and New Year has gone well for you all!

Today is my first post of the year and I thought I would outline the first 3-4 months worth of projects for on the Battle Bunnies. I have now finalised my Ultramarine colour scheme and am mega happy with the results! More on that in my next post.

So, sometimes the best motivation for a project is to set some goals and that is exactly what I have done! I have a ticket for the Doubles weekend at the end of January and the Throne of Skulls at the end of March. As such, I have the goal of 1000pts to complete in the next 3 weeks!!! I started assembly just after Christmas and I have now completed 60 odd models to a sprayable standard. I will be spraying them black tomorrow (so check out the WPR) and airbrushing the first coat in Monday. I would like to have 1-2 squads done by the end of next weekend. That will be a great start!

I will also be doing some tanks and other bits in the not too distant future which will hopefully mean that I will have a good chunk primed for the Throne of Skulls preparation lol.

Optimistic goals but fingers crossed I will achieve them.

I hope you have enjoyed my brief post. I will have something more substantial next time and will return to my new post format.

Stay fluffy,

Kaelo!

Kaelo Rylanus; A New Project Begins

Hey Bunnies

Bit of a quick update tonight. I have started assembling my Ultramarines. Here is a picture of work in progress troop choices.

3 tactical support squads
1 10 man despoiler squad
1 10 man tactical squad

I haven't finished all my Raven Guard yet but really need to make some space in my gaming room as I am moving soon. I will be working on my Raven Guard this Saturday before I try out my Throne of Skulls army against Aveinus' Iron Hands which I am really looking forward to. Been lucky enough to have a good few games recently...which probably means that a new edition will be cropping up soon lol

Got plenty of cool stuff coming up so keep your eyes peeled on the blog or on our Facebook.

Stay fluffy

Kaelo Rylanus - Ultramarines WIP

Hi Bunnies!

A bit more of a substantial update today :)

Here is a few pictures of my WIP tactical squad. I only have a few details and tidy-ups to do, the bases and then the transfers, chipping and weathering. I want to do the last 4 stages at the same time as the rest of the army for consistency so expect to see more units to this level of completion before I take a day to finish everything and make them, hopefully, pop!

Feeling motivated and very happy to have been able to pick a brush up again. I am happy with the way they are turning out. I hope you like them, I am really excited to get more completed and get them on a battlefield.

Thanks for reading

Kaelo Rylanus; Goals Until March

Hi gentle bunny-folk!

Hope that your projects are ever shrinking (my new greeting for hobbyists I think lol).

Following on from my post around goal setting I thought it would be cool to put up my timescales on here for you all. Time permitting, I will do a weekly or fortnightly update - probably on a Saturday night. I will not be focusing too much on a paint guide (I am in no way good enough to teach others to paint lol) but instead will focus more on my selection choices, battlefield roles and stuff like that with images of up to date models. If people want painting guidance I will give my email address and we can discuss, or (if enough people request, I will do a post on a one-off marine in the future).

Anyway, these are the units I intend to finish including the date that I will put a post up by:

Tactical Squad with Bolters: 23/01/16
Tactical Support Squad with Plasma Guns: 23/01/16
Tactical Despoiler Squad: 30/01/16
Tactical Support Squad with Meltaguns: 30/01/16
Veteran Squad: 13/02/16
Kaelo Rylanus: 13/02/16
Terminators Squad: 20/02/16
Invictarus Suzerains: 27/02/16
Roboute Guilliman: 27/02/2016
Contemptor: 27/02/2016
Rhino: 27/02/2016

My latest on Kaelo:

This will earn me £60 worth of hobby budget and give me the skills to tackle vehicles in the future, which I am not very confident with.

I am very excited by the prospect of completing the first 2500pts of Ultramarines. I just hope that no important projects get released before the end. However, I do hope that the House Vornherr transfers are released for the next project.

I hope that you have enjoyed my post. Let's hope I keep on top of it lol.

House Vornherr Knight Acheron

Hey Guys!

So I have hit a lull on my Ultramarines due to weather and space restrictions. Looking to get back on them tomorrow night. Instead I have been building the Knight for my Scion of House Vornherr. You probably don't remember but a while back I wrote a post looking at the fluff for this beautiful house. One of the key things I looked at is the strength of the household and which Knights they would use. The Duke would usually head off to war in his Acheron with a veteran lifeguard formation of a couple of Castigators. Lancers made up the vanguard with Paladins and Errants being the most numerical in the 600 strong House.

So here is the work in progress of my Scion's Acheron.

I wanted a similar pose to that of the one on the FW website. I am planning this engines livery and story and it will go something like this:
'Where the crimson fields are rendered with a jagged edge, this is commonly indicative of deliberate erasure of some facet of the Household's history, most likely in reference to the Knight Houses the Vornherr defeated and absorbed during the Age of Strife.' - I want my engine to be pure so there will be no zig-zags.

'The dark blue check pattern is indicative that the bearer has inherited the mantle of power from an immediate forebear.' - I will have this. My Scion will be the descendant of a successful and noble Duke.
The skull-headed raptor symbol will be on him - the symbol of the House!

I won't have a white band on him as that will suggest a wound suffered in battle - but there will be one on his Castigator bodyguard!
I am also going to show his allegiance to the 12th Expeditionary Fleet, Ultramarines, Roboute Guilliman and the IXth company commander Kaelo Rylanus with a half blue shin pad like this:

My next conundrum is his name! I was thinking something European/Spanish sounding - I love the name Torres! Make your suggestions below and I am up for ideas! I hope you have enjoyed my little WIP.

Cheers for reading

12th Expeditionary Fleet

Hello Bunnies!

I hope that you are all well! Having a very busy week with work again working in London...what a ball-ache!

Anyway...Some of you may know that I am madly in love with Roboute Guilliman and his beautiful blue bastards, well I have decided that my Great Crusade Ultramarine project won't end with marines. I have been looking into the different auxiliaries that were present in the 12th Expeditionary Fleet in the aim of completing a galaxy dominating army. So let's start:

Ultramarines - Bit of an obviously one - we know they were part of the 'March to Ultramar and that Guilliman eventually took over command. What I am not sure about is; how would the logistics of this work? I don't imagine 250,000 marines would travel around together so was the 12th Fleet a sort of 'hub' in which orders and direction could be issued and then sub-fleets would embark and disembark from? That's kinda how I feel. I think that Guilliman would have kept a core of maybe 5 chapters with him at all times and the rest would have been dispersed on garrison, conquest and back-up campaigns. I am going to do around 7000pts based mainly around the 1st Chapter (Marius Gage, Remus Ventanus and Kaelo Rylanus) What do you think?

Imperial Army - no confirmed cohorts or organisation. If an Imperial Army range is created (and the 12th fleet not fleshed-out) I will make my own up...maybe with Orange armour O.O

Solar Auxillia - no confirmed cohorts or organisation. Same again really. Will use the groups Solar models and come up with some fluff 😊

Mechanicum - there were a good few Forge Worlds and Mechanicum cohorts in and around the 500 worlds but I am 95% certain that none have been confirmed as regularly touring with the boys in blue. Maybe the community knows more?

Knights - House Vornherr were attached and swore fealty to Guilliman, travelling with the 12th Fleet for most of the Great Crusade! I will be doing 5 Knights:
1 Paladin
1 Errant
1 Lancer
1 Castigator
1 Acheron
I already own 4/5 of these. Once I get the last one it will be game on!! Lol

Titan Legio's - 2 known Legio's to be attached for the duration of the Great Crusade were:
Legio Tempestus - I am going to do 3 engines for these:
Warhound
Reaver
Warlord
I already have names and just need to get round to doing them. I am hoping to own and start them by the end of the year.

Legio Praesagius - these are actually my favourite Titan Legio - I love the fluff on the way they made war as heroes; never needlessly or recklessly endangering human life. Brilliant fluff.

I will probably do 1-3 engines for these too. Not sure which yet lol which would you suggest?

That's it really. All of my updates to the 12th Expeditionary Fleet project will be tagged thusly now for anyone interested to keep up to date :)

I have planned out the next 8000pts of projects I am undertaking and they will be completed in the following order before I start going back and filling expeditionary fleets:
2000pts Ultramarines - well on the way with this (watch for the weekly update on Sunday).
2000pts Raven Guard - all owned, going to start trimming and preparing in the next week or so for when the UMs are finished - easy colour scheme, shouldn't take long (famous last words lol)
2000pts Salamanders - all owned. Will start these after the RG are nearing completion.
2000pts Luna Wolves - fully assembled and undercoated, these are not far away from being table ready. I just have more love for other projects currently lol.

Later down the road will be additions to all of the above legions, White Scars and Imperial Fists. Maybe some more Titans too...we are going to do a MASSIVE Mars campaign one day....one day...

Hope you have enjoyed reading my hobby update. Please feel free to fill in any fluff blanks I have missed (I was talking with Andy Hoare this week and he says the IX captain has not been mentioned before and that I could do what I wish!! Very awesome!)
