List Summary
This list is intended to be fast moving and hard hitting and make use of the Emperor's Children Rite of War: The Maru Skara or 'Killing Cut'. You can choose between 1 and 3 units to put in reserve. These 'Hidden Blades' then arrive on the turn of your choice (decided before game starts) and they gain the outflank special rule. I would place the Jetbikes and Speeders into reserve with intention of outflanking and hitting the enemy from a more perfect angle! Everything else in the army can move 12 inches, plus on the first turn an additional inch from the 'Open Blade' rule. Eidolon and the champion join the palatine blades and aim to go beat things up. Fulcrum rides with the terminators in the spartan and they also aim to go beat things up! The tactical's move up into the mid field and provide support to the palatines and terminators where needed.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Emperor's Children Breacher Squad

Hey bunnies

I hope you are well. I'm showing my Emperor's Children Breachers with you all today and I hope you like them.

I went with the wings from GWs Sanguinary guard as shields and I am really happy at how they fit. The breachers are a nice unit and I have really been looking forward to getting them done. Here are the pics:

Emperor's Children Despoiler Squad

Hiya all

Here is another completed unit for my Emperor's Children. I really love how these turned out. Whilst listening to Fulgrim and reading Horus Heresy: Betrayal it became very obvious that ECs of all ranks maintained and personalised their own weapons and armour. As prolific swordsmen, I believed it would be more likely that marines would use more varied and subtle swords. So I decided to through in some Sabres as a nice change. They will still count as normal despoilers but with a slightly more personal touch :)

What do you all think? Next up is my Sunkillers squad which I will show later in the week :)

As always, please feel free to comment, follow us on Facebook and send us pictures of your 30k armies for legion on parade :)

Emperor's Children Tactical Support Squad 2

Hello everyone

Here is my second finished tactical support squad armed with Melta Guns. Really deadly squad if I can get them close enough :)

Really happy with the scheme I went for on my repainted legion. I also threw in some EC specific pads, torsos and heads as well as some pteruges from a 3rd party producer.

I hope you like my squad. Please comment below :)

Next up is my despoiler squad!

Emperor's Children Tactical Support Squad

Hey Bunnies

I have been working on my Emperor's Children longer than I care to remember - it's never ending!! I am now starting to see the fruits of my labours with finished models!

Here is my first squad for your viewing pleasure - a 5 man Tactical Support squad armed with Volkite Chargers! These are badass, especially against Xeno's!

This squad is done in my new colour scheme, which is much closer to the Betrayal scheme, and I am very pleased with how it has turned out. I will do a step-by-step painting guide on Fulgrim in the next few weeks showing how I achieved the metallic purple effect and what mixtures of paint I used.

I hope you like my work, please feel free to comment below :)

WIP Emperor's Children

Hey Bunnies

I thought I would show you what I have been working on recently.

I decided to redo my Emperor's Children about 2 months ago as I was unhappy with the colours. The purple was flat and vibrant, the gold was bordering on eye-achingly obnoxious. I compared my colour scheme to the one in Horus Heresy: Betrayal and found it wanting.

So here is a quick work in progress of my new Emperor's Children - from a time of honour and discipline:

And here are some close-ups:

Tactical support marine with Meltagun

Despoiler - sorry for poor photo. Will update asap

Sunkiller

Breacher

Schimitar Jet Bike

I hope you like my work, I am happy with how they look so far. Expect to see more pictures as I finish them. Please leave feedback below :)

Preliminary Emperor's Children Army List

Hey Bunnies

Earlier this week I dropped a bomb on the group when I informed them I was restarting my Emperor's Children with a new colour scheme. In all honesty, I feel it was a brave decision as I have done quite a chunk and spent a lot of money. I do, however, feel I have made the right choice as I am massively happy with my test model.

I am going to do a more concise army list this time and 'trim the fat'. Bare in mind this is a Great Crusade era list.

Here is my new updated list (without HQs - which I plan on doing quite a few!):

Fulgrim

Elites
9 Veteran Legionaire: Volkite Charger (1:5); Plasma gun (1:5); 4× Power Weapon; + 1 Legionaire Sergeant (Power Weapon)
EC - Palatine Blade Squad: 4× Power Sword; Sonic Shriekers; Jump Packs; + 1 Palatine Prefector (Power Sword)
4 Phoenix Terminators: Sonic Shriekers
• Spartan Assault Tank: Armoured Ceramite; Flare shield; Pintle twin-linked Bolter
1 Legion Contemptor Deadnought: Twin-linked Autocannon; Twin-linked lascannon

Troops
9 Legionaire: Boltgun, Bolt Pistol, Chainsword, Combat Blade; + 1 Legionaire Sergeant (power weapon; Artificier armour; frag grenades; krak grenades)
• Rhino
9 Assault Legionaire: Hand Flamer (1in5); Power Weapon (1in5); + 1 Legionaire Assault Sergeant (Power Weapon; Artificier Armour; frag grenades; krak grenades; Melta Bombs (sgt only))
9 Breacher Legionaire: Volkite Charger (1in5); Melta gun (1in5); + 1 Legionaire Sergeant (Melta Bombs (sgt only))
4 Support Legionaires: Volkite Charger; + 1 Legionaire Sergeant (Artificier armour; frag grenades; krak grenades)
4 Support Legionaires: Melta gun; + 1 Legionaire Sergeant

Fast Attack
Legion Storm Eagle Assault Gunship: 2 Wing Twin-linked Lascannons
3 Javelin Attack Speeders: 2× twin-linked Lascannons; 3× Hunter Killer missile (2perLS)
3 Sky Hunter Legionaire: Jetbike Multi-melta (1in3); + 1 Sky Hunter Legionaire Sergeant

Heavy Support
Legion Whirlwind Scorpius
4 Heavy Support Legionaire: 4× Lascannon; + 1 Space Marine Sergeant (Lascannon)
Legion Fire Raptor Gunship: Two turret mounted Reaper Autocannon Battery

Lord of War
Legion Falchion Super-Heavy Tank Destroyer: Armoured Ceramite; Pintle mounted Twin-linked Bolter; Space Marine Legion Crew

This is around 4,500 points in total and more than adequate for some cool battles! I was tempted to plonk in 3 Predators instead of the Scorpius, but I am not sure.

What do you think?

Restarting my Emperor's Children - A pride in painting!

Hey Guys

We have had some beautiful Legions on Parade, over the last few months, with gorgeous paint schemes, showing a real example to the community of the talent out there and the pride in their models. So, recently I have been looking at my projects and in particular the way I have painted the 3rd Legion. I favour a more realistic painting style which has natural lighting, gritty weathering and chipping etc. I am in no way an exceptional painter but I do feel my work is nice enough to share with the community. However, sometimes I look back at my models and know in my heart I can do better. I have had just such a case with my Emperor's Children. I am unhappy with the look and feel of my legion and don't feel they match the beautiful artwork from the Betrayal book:

In Betrayal the Emperor's Children armour is metallic and the gold quite subdued. My purple is non-reflective and very vibrant, while my gold is garish - almost unpalatable. As such I have been trialling some paint schemes today looking for one which ticks all the boxes:
1. Quick
2. Easy
3. Repeatable
4. Metallic
5. Close to the source material
Here is a picture of my favourite trial model (forgive me the use of MKVII armour lol):

What do you think? I think it is fairly close to the source material. I will be trialling some golds tomorrow, which I will show on the weekly progress report, and then get ready to batch produce!

I would also like to have a go at repositioning Fulgrim into a more heroic pose and less battle-centric, so stay tuned for that!

Great Crusade Emperor's Children, Fluff, Structure and Personnel

Helloooo Bunnies!!

I have been researching a lot about the Emperor's Children and deciding on which characters I want to focus on in the Great Crusade.

I have decided to focus most of my stories around Lord Commander Vespasion, little is known on him and I am not sure when he became a Lord Commander so what I may do is have him as a company captain, make up my own lord commander and flesh out his rise through the legion. Here is some of the Great Crusade Emperor's Children fluff I have identified:
Fulgrim:
Had almost completely no whites to his eyes.
Fireblade had a golden blade that shone with the constant light of the forge.
He went to battle with the Phoenix Guard as his bodyguard, but he was also followed by a company standard (unsure what armour he used). At the time of the battle of Laeren, this companion was called Brother Thestis who carried a legion standard made from purple cloth with a white-gold eagle sat atop it. He had a long blade.

Legion:
When they wear red cloaks or tunics it means they are about to go to war or are at war.
Vespasion was a Lord commander - not sure when this happened anyone have further information?
Julius Kaisoron was 1st captain. He wore terminator armour and he used a combi-bolter and power fist.
Soloman Demeter was 2nd captain. He wore MKIV armour and I believe he had a heavy chainsword.
Marius Verosian was 3rd captain. Anyone know of his wargear?
The Imperial Army contingent attached to the ECs were called the Archite Palatines, they wore crimson tunics with silver breastplates
The legion used chaplains.

Here is some stuff about the structure of the legion during the Great Crusade. Mainly looking at popular units and ones that wouldn't be used.

Great Crusade Structure
HQs
Fluffy:
Champion - an obvious choice due to the fact it is in the rite of war and is a character who exhibits marshall prowess. Coupled with the updated rule that any EC characters in a challenge gain +1 to their initiative, they are a tremendous foe!
Primus Medicae - the Emperor's Children had a very large Medicae department including Apothecaries. Even during the Great Crusade, the ECs were conducting experiments and making 'improvements' to the Emperor's design. As such we are allowing the use of Sonic Shriekers (+1 initiative on the charge).
Not Fluffy:
Librarian - the ECs believed that the psyker gene was an imperfection and as such, there were no psykers in the legion. Strange considering Fulgrim was a vocal supporter of the Librarius...weird hey?

Elites:
There are not really any fluffy units here outside of the normal, Phoenix Guard, Palatine Blades etc.

Troops:
The ECs used small squads in most engagements, this is because of the early numerical weakness of the legion. Instead the legion grew to use fast tactics and commissioned a large amount of jump packs.
Fluffy:
10 man tactical/despoiler squads - the ECs tended towards more despoiler squads apparently as they had a very effective tactic of using bolters at range and finishing with chainswords. This can be evidenced in the Black Library novel 'Fulgrim' during the cleansing of Laeren.
Small tactical support squads - the 3rd legion had access to all available wargear so any option is fine.
Assault squads - see above :)

Fast Attack:
Fluffy:
Sky Hunters - Fulgrim loved these and compared them to knights on horse. How romantic!

Heavy Support:
Fluffy:
Lascannon Heavy Support squads - were known as the sunkillers and were a very popular option during the Crusade.

This will be a work in progress collection. I know I will have missed some. Please add comments below (with citations where possible) and I will update and correct.

Here are a few WIP pictures of my Phoenix Guard. I will be completing these in the next few days and will then move back to my, now fixed, Javelins.

You can see my champion, Corrinth Lannis on the right here. Really not happy with his pose anymore...*Reaches for heat gun*

I hope you enjoyed my post. Please comment below :)

Pre-heresy Emperor's Children

Hey all

Happy New Year and all that Jazz :)

Now, to business. I have been exceptionally lax in keeping you all updated with progress on my Emperor's Children - for which I am truly sorry. I have excuses but none of them are valid lol. Progress, however, HAS been made and I am now able to field around 3000pts of EC. I have yet to chip, weather and put transfers on, although the transfers have not been released yet for EC. I intend to get the weathering done before 25/01. Here are some up to date pictures:

10 man tactical squad

10 man assault squad

5 man heavy support squad

10 man seeker squad

Fulgrim

I have followed the Forge World painting guide. As you can see my squads consist of mixed MKs of armour. To spice them up I have also thrown in some Palatine Blade and Blood Angel Sanguinary Guard bitz. I am happy with the majority of it :)

Once I have completed these 3000pts I will be l moving on to other projects including:
Luna Wolves
Eldar Exodites
Snow board
So keep your eyes out for these. :)

The Battle Bunnies will be at Warhammer World on 25 & 26 of January. We have the Tau Outpost booked on the Saturday and J'Migan  Bridge on the Sunday. Come and say hi :)
