GINGERHAWK GUNSHIP: Merry Xmas 2015 from the Battle Bunnies

Season Greetings to all.

I present to you all the Gingerhawk Gunship. Made by myself and my mother to celebrate Xmas 2015.

Merry Xmas to all Bloggers out there too! Especially: Gary from Natfka, Loken from Heresy 30k, Age of Sigmar blogspot, M-K Painting Studios, Painting Bunker, Spikey Bits, Aus30k, as well as Crusade and Heresy.

A Special Merry Xmas to all Forge World, Black Library and GW staff. Thanks for making 2015 so amazing. Looking forward to 2016.

It was a labour of love (and anger) which took 3 evenings to complete! It has landing gear (stands off of the ground) and is totally to scale.

Lascannons are Kit Kat sticks, engines are boost bars and the Thunderhawk cannon is a ripple bar.

Work in progress shot.

Merry Xmas from the Battle Bunnies

May your stockings be full of Resin and Battle at Calth boxes.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas (in the Imperial Palace)

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the palace
Not a creature was stirring, not without bearing malice;
The wargear was placed by the guard post with care,
In fears that The Primordial Annihilator soon would be there;
The Primarchs were nestled all snug in their stasis beds;
While visions of compliances danced in their heads;
And Malcky in his hood, and I in my throne,
Had just settled our brains for a long wait alone,
When out on the walls there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my throne to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the Himalayan snow,
Gave a lustre of midday to objects below,
When what to my wondering eyes came from afar,
But a miniature daemon and an eight pointed star,
A little old daemon so lively and slick,
I knew in a moment we must ready ourselves quick.
More rapid than eagles his curses they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Lion! now, Leman! now Fulgrim and Vulkan!
Oh, Corax! oh, Curze! oh, Lorgar and Magnus!
To the top of the warp! to the top of the world!
Now cast away! Cast away! Cast away all!"
As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the palacetop the stasis tubes they flew
With my heart full of tears, and apprehension too—
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
In the basement warp creatures came with a bound.
They were draped all in blood, from their head to their foot,
And their heads were all wreathed with ashes and soot;
A bundle of souls they had burned with a look,
And they appeared like a nightmare from some ancient book.
Their eyes—how they twinkled! The horns, all splayed!
Their skins were like embers, their teeth like a blade!
Their drooling little mouths were drawn up and bowed,
And the blood on it's skin was fresh as it flowed;
The stump of a guard it held tight in it's teeth,
And smoke, it encircled it's form like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a furnace like sword
That shook when he laughed, and glowed when he roared.
He was muscled and taught, a right fearsome sight,
And I halted when I saw him, not the first time that night;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave me to know I had everything to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And dispatched all the Custodes; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his head,
And giving a nod, into warp space he bled;
They sprang to their master, as to his team gave a holla,
And away they all melted like smoke on the water.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he dropped out of sight—
“Happy Christmas to all that survived through Old Night!”

Battle Bunny's Tree topper.

Ladies, Gentlemen and Bunnies.

Here is our last Tree ornament; the Imperial Aquila of the Great Crusade.

We are very happy how the tree turned out and we are already coming up with some great ideas for next year.

One last little supposition that Kaelo and I have bounding between us is what they are going to do with the Custodes and Sisters of Silence. We know the models will be insanely popular, and as recently GW have taken the MKIV Legionnaires, maybe this is an example of what is to come.
Think about it, Prospero was meant to be book 4, it got pushed back. Why? Maybe the reason is FW knew they would not be able to keep up with their production or maybe GW wanted to make the range themselves.
"Hey FW, hold Prospero back a few years, we want to do the plastic range for Custodes and Sisters of Silence/battle" then they pick up the phone to Laurie Gaulding.
"Hey Laurie, we are doing plastic Sisters of Silence and Custodes. We don't want to do end times 40k yet, so can you create a story with all the top writers which has most of the 40k races reaching Terra so we can get the Custodes and Sisters of Silence involved."
"Yeah sure, I will get on it, be ready by end 2016."
Beast arises is created, Sisters of Silence are in art work already.

What do you think?

Legion: XVI
Name: Sons of Horus
Former Names: Luna Wolves
Primarch: Horus Lupercal
First Captain at outbreak of Heresy: Ezekyle Abaddon
Forge World Paint scheme:

Green:
  1. Undercoat with Chaos Black Spray;
  2. Basecoat with a mix Of 25% Castellan Green, 25% Sotek Green, 25% Dawnstone And 25% Nurgling Green;
  3. Repeat stage 2 with 20% more Dawnstone and Sotek Green
  4. Repeat stage 3 with 20% more Dawnstone and Sotek Green
  5. Wash with several very thin layers of Colia Greenshade, each starting lower down the armour plate
You can now replace the green mix above with Forgeworlds Airbrush range. Lupercal Green and Sons of Horus Green. This would replace stages 2-4. These are the paints used on the bauble and are perfect for job!

Gold
  1. Basecoat with Runelord Brass;
  2. Wash with Agrax Earthshade;
  3. Highlight with Runelord Brass in striking motions to create a chipped and weathered appearance.

Sample 2500 point list with Primarch:
HQ
Ezekyle Abaddon

Troops
9 Tacticals, additional close combat weapons, Legion Vexilla.
+ Sergeant with artificer armour power fist.
+ Rhino

16 Tacticals, additional close combat weapons, Legion Vexilla.
+ Sergeant with artificer armour, power fist.

Elites
5 Justaerin Terminators, 4 power weapons, power fist

Fast Attack
9 Reaver Attack Squad, 2 power weapons, 1 power fist, jump packs
+ Reaver Chieftain, artificer armour, power fist

Storm Eagle Gunship, Twin linked multi-melta, Lasannons

Heavy Support
Spartan Assault Tank

Sicaran Battle Tank, Lascannon sponsons, auxiliary drive

Lord of War
Horus the Warmaster

Summary:
Everything in the list can move quickly, Sons of Horus want to get up into the opponent and are suited to combat with the Legion specific traits. This is why I have given the tactical squads the extra close combat weapons. Reavers are deadly and fun, they chunk out a huge amount of attacks with jump packs. Give them power swords to cut through regular marines with ease and don't send them up against specialist close combat squads. On the way across the table hide them behind the vehicles and hop them out when they get in range. Horus wants to be in combat, as such he rides with his First Captain and the 5 Justaerin in the Spartan. The big squad of tactical's go in the Storm Eagle and fly on to assist wherever needed or to overwhelm the opponent. The Storm Eagle and Sicaran can deal with armour, as well as keeping up with the rest of the army.

Big blue bastards
12 Butchers Nails
*Cough-er-ahem*

First Captain at the outbreak of the Heresy: Ahzek Ahriman

Forge World colour scheme:
Red armour colour:

Gold: Base coat of Balthasar gold. This is then highlighted with a mix of Balthasar gold and Auric Armour in a 25/75 ratio. This is followed by a further highlight of Auric Armour and then finally with a mix of Auric Armour and Runefang Steel in a 50/50 ratio.

King Fluff's paint scheme:
I will probably follow the the Forge World scheme, although I may use Halford's primer and then perhaps the Games Workshop spray on top (if that's no longer available then I'll use the Halford's red primer)

Sample 2500 List with Primarch.

The Crimson King 495 (approx)
Centurion: Consul (Librarian); Mastery Level 2 115*
Centurion: Consul (Librarian); Mastery Level 2 115

• Spartan Assault Tank 485

Sicarian Battle Tank: armoured ceramite 155

Sicarian Battle Tank: armoured ceramite 155

Sicarian Venetor Tank Destroyer: armoured ceramite 210

*working on the assumption that Thousand Sons can take Librarians as compulsory HQ

The list is very hypothetical until we see the rules for the Thousand Sons released. I wanted to put together a list with lighter tanks for maneuverability and a solid core of infantry. The intention is for units to be able to swap transports and make best use of the abilities of the librarians in their midst. Potentially Magnus could use the Spartan as his personal transport if needed with the terminators teleporting in. The anti tank comes from the Sicarians however there may be enough anti-tank poke with Psychic powers to ensure a good offensive line.To expand the force I would upgrade the Spartan and perhaps add transports for a split tactical squad and I would most definitely include at least one Xiphon to boost the harrying and anti-air potential of the force. Potentially I would also add in a contemptor talon as anti-infantry mobile platforms.

I'm very excited for the Thousand Sons (and I have a Betrayal at Calth box with their name on it)

Battle Bunnies 20 Legions of Xmas: World Eaters

On the Twelfth day of Xmas Santa gave to me:
Twelve Butcher's Nails

9 Angels weeping
Psy-chos a' skin-in'
Seven breachers breaching
Russ-is-a-slaying
Sa-vage laugh-ing kill-ers!
Dirty ditch diggers
Per-fect-ion
+++Records Expunged+++
And a Legion full of mys-te-ry!

Legion: XII
Name: World Eaters
Former Names: War Hounds
Primarch: Angron
First Captain at outbreak of Heresy: Ibrahim Greer (Legion Master at time of Angron's discovery as closest to First Captain that I could find)

Forge World Paint scheme: Undercoat with Skull White, wash over with a mix of: 25% Drakenhof Nightshade, 25% Nuln Oil, 25% Lahmian Medium, 25% water. Lightly sponge Ceramite White mixed with Lahmian Medium. Kantor Blue for the shoulder pads and Sycorax Bronze for trim.

Typical 2500pt list:

Khârn The Bloody 170

9 Assault Space Marines: chainaxes; 2× power weapon; melta bombs; + 1 Assault Sergeant (artificer armour; pair of lightning claws; melta bombs) 355
9 Tactical Space Marines: chainaxes; legion vexilla; + 1 Tactical Sergeant (artificer armour; chainaxe) 170
4 Tactical Support Marines: + 1 Tactical Support Sergeant (artificer armour) 110

4 Red Butcher Terminators: 4× second power axe; + 1 Devoured (pair of lightning claws) 280
9 Rampagers: meteor hammer; 4× excoriator chainaxe; 2× twin Falax blades; 2× barb-hook lash; jump packs; + 1 Rampager Champion (meteor hammer) 430

3 Jetbike Sky Hunters: plasma cannon 150

Caestus Assault Ram 305
Whirlwind Scorpius: dozer blade; extra armour 130

Angron 400

2,500 points

List Summary: I have chosen these options as the World Eaters are renowned for being a very fast assualt based army. The ram and the jetbikes personify this, as well as the trademark jump rampagers.

Battle Bunnies 20 Legions of Xmas: Blood Angels

On the 9th day of Christmas Santa gave to me;

9 Angels weeping
Psy-chos a' skin-in'
Seven breachers breaching
Russ-is-a-slaying
Sa-vage laugh-ing kill-ers!
Dirty Ditch Diggers
Per-fect-ion
+++ Records Expunged +++
And a Legion full of Mys-ter-y

Legion: IX
Name: Blood Angels
Former Names: None
Primarch: Sanguinius
First Captain at outbreak of Heresy: Ralderon

Paint scheme: Spray Chaos Black, airbrush Mephiston Red, wash of Carroburg Crimson, Abaddon Black on trims

Typical 2500pt list:

Praetor: bolt pistol; paragon blade; iron halo 150

9 Assault Space Marines: melta bombs; + 1 Assault Sergeant (artificer armour; pair of lightning claws) 330
9 Tactical Space Marines: chainswords; + 1 Tactical Sergeant (artificer armour; power weapon) 190
• Rhino 35
4 Terminators: 4× combi-bolter; 4× power weapon; + 1 Terminator Sergeant (combi-bolter; power weapon) 175

9 Sanguinary Guard: jump packs; + 1 Sanguine Prefector 335 (estimated)

Storm Eagle Assault Gunship 210
Xiphon Pattern Interceptor 205

4 Heavy Support Marines: plasma cannons; + 1 Heavy Support Sergeant (artificer armour) 220
Whirlwind Scorpius 115

Primarch Sanguinius 470 (estimated)
2.435 points

List Summary:

I have opted for a fast list. The Blood Angels are known for their swift fury, similar to the World Eaters. There is firepower in this list but a fast attack theme is prominent in this theoretical list. When the rules, rites of war and units come out I will be sure to make a more concrete list

• Dreadnought drop pod 285

Contemptor: havoc launcher, 2 kheres assault cannons
• Dreadnought drop pod 285

Kharybdis Assault Claw 260

The list is designed as hard hitting behind enemy lines, making best use of the legions rite of war (Terror Assault) and their access to Dreadclaw assault pods and maxing out pods to abuse the drop pod assault rule. It allows for swap outs in transported units and different combinations to hit specific units in an enemy deployment zone. Night Lords need good fire support and transport options whilst closing the gap quickly to make best use of combat, a more brutal version of what the Raven Guard are known for. I've found that Curze can be a little fragile so placing him in a decent transport with back up seemed like a good option.

Sons of Nostramo #7 - Do they know it's Christmas time?

Good morning sports fans!
Welcome to another installment of those clad in midnight blue.

So as with the other Bunnies I've spent the last week or so busily prepping my forces for the Battle Bunnies Xmas Bash at Warhammer World.

I had a great time bashing loyalists even if the mayhem caused by the Lords of the Night was minimal.

So this week I managed to square away two Terror Squads, a unit of Night Raptors and my Praevian unit.

There are still bits and bobs I'd like to touch up and transfers to add at some point soon.

One of the biggest jobs was to re-base models and replace heads, whilst getting new models done as well.

Here's a little painting guide I put together whilst doing the painting this week.

Evil Sunz Scarlet wet brush

Skulls - Steel Legion Drab base coat

Flesh - Dawnstone base coat

Hair - Storm Vermin Fur base coat
Several Nuln Oil washes

A little more on the battle then...

The two Terror Squads did very little (even with the inspiring presence of their Praetor)  - they wandered up the river bank for a while and then one squad was decimated by a Deredo's missile pods as it sought cover in a ruined out building.

Terror Squads of the Night Lords legion advance out of line of sight.

The Praevian unit killed one lone Thudd Gun operator and spent the rest of the game getting in the way of rampaging traitor Spartans.

Sons of Ultramar target the advancing Praevian and his Castellax bodyguard.

But the saving grace came in the shape of five angry young psychos with jump packs and lightning claws, jumping across the battle field to decimate a Dark Angel Devastator Squad and then  wiping out the vast majority of a 20 man tactical squad of the same legion. With their use of cover they were able to make it into combat, which frankly, they excel at. Their losses and kills ratio perhaps would have also been different if I had remembered their Fear special rule.

Night Raptors move to intercept the Dark Angels for the second time.

Lots of lessons learnt from the battle, more transports are needed and larger units to weather incoming fire, also I need some serious anti-tank to deal with all those Spartans kicking around.

Having said that...

A lone Knight Lancer from House Krask in support of the Night Lords
attracts more fire than he can comfortably manage
So to this end I'll be looking at adding some transportation and anti-tank units to my arsenal over the Christmas period.

Happy Hobbying

Battle Bunnies 20 Legions of Xmas: Vlka Fenryka

On the sixth day of Xmas Santa gave to me:
Russ-is-a-slaying
Sa-vage laugh-ing kill-ers!
Dirty Ditch Diggers
Per-fect-ion
+++ Records Expunged +++
And a Legion full of Mys-ter-y

Legion: VI
Name: Vlka Fenryka
Former Names: None
Primarch: Leman Russ
First Captain at outbreak of Heresy: Gunnar Gunnhilt (Absolute Legend)

Forge World Colour scheme (sent to me a while ago):

Grey Armour

Basecoat of Dawnstone which is highlighted with Administratum Grey.  Wash this with an equal mix of Badab Black, Lahmian Medium and water.

Brass

Basecoat of Warplock Bronze which is highlighted with Rune Lord Brass.

I will be waiting to see what FW paints are released before I start my favourite Legion.

Sample 2500 pt list with Primarch:

Wolf Lord (Praetor): pair of lightning claws; melta bombs; digital lasers; iron halo 170

9 Tactical Space Marines: chainswords; nuncio-vox; legion vexilla; + 1 Tactical Sergeant (heavy chainsword; melta bombs) 200
• Rhino: hunter-killer missile; dozer blade; extra armour; heavy bolter 75
11 Assault Space Marines: 2× power weapon; melta bombs; + 1 Assault Sergeant (artificer armour; pair of lightning claws; melta bombs) 395
4 Tactical Support Marines: plasma guns; + 1 Tactical Support Sergeant (artificer armour) 185
19 Tactical Space Marines: chainswords; legion vexilla; + 1 Tactical Sergeant (artificer armour; power weapon; melta bombs) 325

4 Terminators: Cataphractii armour; 2× combi-weapon; power fist; chainfist; heavy flamer; 2× pair of lightning claws; + 1 Terminator Sergeant (combi-weapon; thunder hammer; grenade harness) 271
• Spartan Assault Tank: twin-linked heavy flamer; hunter-killer missile; auxiliary drive; armoured ceramite; flare shield; multi-melta 380

Russ inc Freki and Geri (estimated) 500

2,501 points

Summary: I have written this list to showcase their brazen savagery. Melta Bombs mean they will all be able to tackle any vehicle the unit may encounter, it also puts enough feet on the ground (which the Rout were renowned for). Stick Russ in the Sparten with his Bodyguard and Russ Bomb their front lines, with the Assault squad and Rhino keeping up behind and charging the turn later. The 20 Legionnaire squad led by the Wolf Lord will attack his own targets and try to claim objectives etc.

Happy Krampus Night!

Howdy Guys and Girls -  and a happy Krampus Night everyone!

I guess most of you (who aren't living in Austria or Bavaria) will now ask - what is a Krampus? So, here is a little introduction:

The Feast of St. Nicholas is celebrated in parts of Europe on 6th December. In Alpine countries, Saint Nicholas has a devilish companion named Krampus. On the preceding evening of December 5th, Krampus Night or Krampusnacht, the wicked hairy devil appears on the streets. Sometimes accompanying St Nicholas and sometimes on his own, Krampus visits homes and businesses. The Saint usually appears in the Eastern Rite vestments of a bishop, and he carries a ceremonial staff. Unlike North American versions of Santa Claus, in these celebrations Saint Nicholas concerns himself only with the good children, while Krampus is responsible for the bad. Nicholas dispenses gifts, while Krampus supplies coal and the ruten bundles.
A Krampuslauf is a run of celebrants dressed as the beast, often fueled by alcohol. It is customary to offer a Krampus schnapps, a strong distilled fruit brandy. These runs may include perchten, similarly wild pagan spirits of Germanic folklore and sometimes female in representation, although the perchten are properly associated with the period between winter solstice and 6 January.

These runs are usually pretty cool, and if you are in Austria or Bavaria during the 5th of december, you should take a look! Fitting with that, I have a little 30k poem for you all, hope you enjoy it :P

Hear the bells, Empmas bells, ringing in the distance,
Past the moon, across the sky, we knew him in an instant.

A small lad from the town, in the valley far below;
Shouts "look up!" to all, “I can see Frekis' bright red nose!”
Way up there, the small Wolf, pointing out the way,
The gangs all here, as twelve more appear, to guide old Russ’ sleigh.

Russ brings a special glee, a sparkle to the eye;
But brats take haste, and U'zuhl comes, to darken up the sky.
A jolly old soul with a heart of gold, Leman Russ is coming;
With cloven hoofs and goatish horns, the U'zuhl sends em’ running.
As good ol' Russ, will fill with toys, his magical grey sack;
The U'zuhl has a birch club, strapped across his back.

Much larger then his counterpart, with gore from head to toe;
Two horns as large as antlers, and claws where hands should go.
All the naughty children, in rusty chains are bound;
They'll smell the stench of brimstone, as it rises through the ground.
The earth will start to rumble, there’s fire all around;
The pits of hell will open wide, and he’ll throw the children down.
So sinister a creature, this frigid hungry beast;
Will eat their burning bodies, for a crispy Empmas treat.

As Russ leaves our snowy town,
The remaining kids will gather 'round,
For their friends they'll shed a final tear,
And know that the Skulltaker will be back in a year ...

And now - the man of the hour - U'Zuhl, the Skulltaker:

The Skulltaker

U'Zuhl, the Sacred Executioner, Daemonic Herald of Khorne

It is said that when Khorne created U'Zuhl, the first thing it did was decapitate the first creature it saw, another Bloodletter, which pleased the Blood God immensely. When U'Zuhl finally took its 888th skull for Khorne, it was anointed as the Sacred Executioner of Khorne and took the title Skulltaker.

In the midst of every battle he participates in, Skulltaker seeks out the mightiest foes on the battlefield so that he may slay them himself with his serrated Hellblade. Those who flee this confrontation are cut down without remorse, while those who stand their ground usually suffer the same fate, though at a slower and far more painful pace. Skulltaker likes to take its time with foes, dismembering them limb by limb yet not taking their life until the end to prolong its pleasure in the slaughter. Only when its opponent is a limbless horror upon the ground does it offer up death, grabbing their head, intoning the eight Words of Sacrifice while it uses sorcery to wreathe the victim's head in hellfire, burning away flesh and muscle until only a bare, charred skull remains. Skulltaker then rips the skull from the body and places it within the grisly sack it carries, which contains all the other skulls it has liberated from their owners during the battle.

When Skulltaker returns to Khorne's Brass Citadel within the Realm of Chaos in the Warp, it presents its newest trophies to the Blood God. Khorne impales these skulls upon the brass spikes of his keep. The skulls of opponents who presented a particular challenge he allows Skulltaker to keep as trophies. Skulltaker then weaves them into the horrific Cloak of Skulls he wears using fleshy sinew taken from the bodies of other victims.

It was pretty cool to paint him up, and the cape was my first real attempt at non-metallic gold - pretty happy with the outcome ^,^

Hope you liked my little post!
