Angron: Slave of Nuceria First Impressions

Hey everyone!

Two weeks ago, it was the Black Library celebration weekend which was held in Games Workshop stores across the globe. Out of all the new books that where on offer that weekend, the one that natutally piqued my interest was the release of the limited edition Primarchs series book "Angron: Slave of Nuceria". I've been looking forward to this one for a while as a World Eaters praetor! :)

I haven't had a chance to read it fully as I ended up having to order the book from Black Library directly which meant I had to wait a week for it. I think it was certainly worth the wait as you can see, it is a very pretty tome and will live along side my Horus Heresy black books. The slip case is beautiful, the guys at work despite thinking it might be some occult thing (*twitch* this is no book of sorcery!!!) still appreciated and admired the presentation of the book.

The warhound on the front along with the world eaters symbols in the corners highlights in my mind that this is set around the time where the warhounds became the world eaters and this tome will contain some juicy information about this legion. There is a conversation between Kharn and Argal Tal in Betrayer which I think will get a lot more context about as it should be that time in the legion's history in this book.

When you open the magnetically sealed case, you are presented with the book's full cover art with both Angron and Kharn in the midst of battle (their glorious, skull-taking, blood-letting habitat) with a similarly presented hardback book. Again, beautifully presented - the chainlink pattern down the spine like on the slipcase is a very nice touch.

I can't wait to finish reading this book! Has anyone else bought this limited edition book or any of the previous Primarch series limited edition books?

Until next time, BLOOD FOR THE PRIMARCH! SKULLS FOR THE 12TH LEGION!

Horus Heresy: Shattered Legions, Magnus and Perturabo

Howdy Guys and Girls :)

Three new books on the way in the next months - Shattered Legions, Magnus and Perturabo!

Let's start with another compilation of Horus Heresy stories that is coming out in April - Shattered Legions. It collects "Meduson" and "The Seventh Serpent", which both were only available as event only books as far as I remember.

Driven almost to the brink of self-destruction at Isstvan V, the Iron Hands now seek vengeance for the murder of their primarch Ferrus Manus. Gathering survivors from the Raven Guard and the Salamanders aboard any vessels capable of warp travel, these Shattered Legions wage a new campaign of annihilation against the traitor forces across the galaxy – a campaign masterminded by legendary warleader Shadrak Meduson. This Horus Heresy anthology contains ten short stories by authors including Dan Abnett, Chris Wraight, John French and many more. Also, in the novella The Seventh Serpent, Graham McNeill revisits the ragtag crew of the starship Sisypheum as they are drawn into a war of subterfuge against the Alpha Legion.

CONTENTS
Meduson by Dan Abnett
The Noose by David Annandale
The Keys of Hel by John French
Unforged & Unspoken by Guy Haley
Immortal Duty by Nick Kyme
The Either & The Seventh Serpent by Graham McNeill
Deeds Endure by Gav Thorpe
Grey Talon & The Hand Elect by Chris Wraight

January will bring us the first release for Magnus the Red - really exciting, especially for me :)

Lord of the mystical and uncanny, Magnus the Red has long studied the ancient crafts of sorcery. A psyker without peer, save only for the Emperor himself, he commands his loyal followers of the Thousand Sons Legion in the Great Crusade, though also vigilant for any lost knowledge they might recover from the remains of dead human civilisations. Now, fighting alongside his brother Perturabo of the Iron Warriors, Magnus begins to foresee an approaching nexus of fate - will he remain true to their mutual aims, or divert his own efforts towards furthering his own mastery of the warp?

Written by Graham McNeill

Last but not least - Perturabo, Hammer of Olympia!

Born to a life of political conflict, Perturabo was always considered a child prodigy among the people of Olympia – indeed, his philosophical and scientific works were beyond compare. But then, after his rediscovery by the Emperor and decades of thankless military campaigning on the Great Crusade, the primarch begins to resent his Legion’s place in the Imperium. When word reaches him of turmoil on his adoptive home world, he orders the Iron Warriors to abandon their campaign against the alien hrud and crush this emerging rebellion by any means necessary...

Written by Guy Haley

A book featuring Perturabo, Olympia and Hrud (their first real appereance in fiction!)? Can't wait to get my hands on that!

What do you think about the upcoming HH/Primarch books? What Primarch do you want to see featured next?

Black Library Live - Horus Heresy news

Howdy Guys and Girls :)

Today was the Black Library Live event - and Kaelo was there. He got some cool informations regarding the Horus Heresy to share with us:

David Annandale is writing a book called Ruin Storm. This follows Angels of Caliban and it's about the three Primarchs trying to get back to Terra.

Nick Kyme is writing a book called
Old Earth. This is the next part of Vulkan's story where he is going to Terra because he has to do something very important that only he can do because of his unique skills. Old earth will also close a door on an Iron Hands story.

John French is doing one called
Dark Compliance. This follows the audio Warmaster where Horus conquers a world so he is able to conquer more in the future. It's goes into detail in how he wants to rebuild the Imperium and his thought process. However something happens which means that even if Horus won, he wouldn't be able to rule.

Guy Hayley is doing the Perturabo origin story which will include some bits of him during the Great Crusade against Hrud getting their arse kicked (Editors Note: HRUD?! HRUD! Awesome!). Also, apparently Horus had to deceive him so he would join him as well ...

Gav Thorpe is doing one called
Lorgar Bearer of the Word. This is an origin story of Lorgar about Kor Phaeron finding him. Apparently he was like an abusive father but it shows how that changed when Lorgar grew up.

Apparently the guy who dies in the Dorn book is definitively dead.

Also, we will know early next year how many books in total they are doing!

They said they know exactly what are the remaining books, and there are only 3 more that need to be done before we reach Terra.

Wow, that sounds pretty awesome. What book are you anticipating the most? What stories do you want to get told before we reach Terra? Write us in the comments below!

Howdy Guys and Girls,

Today we have an overview of upcoming Black Library stuff for you - enjoy :)

- WARNING - this may contain smaller spoilers!! -

The Master of Mankind

While Horus’ rebellion burns across the galaxy, a very different kind of war rages beneath the Imperial Palace. The ‘Ten Thousand’ Custodian Guard, along with the Sisters of Silence and the Mechanicum forces of Fabricator General Kane, fight to control the nexus points of the ancient eldar webway that lie closest to Terra, infested by daemonic entities after Magnus the Red’s intrusion. But with traitor legionaries and corrupted Battle Titans now counted among the forces of Chaos, the noose around the Throneworld is tightening, and none but the Emperor Himself can hope to prevail.

Written by Aaron Dembski-Bowden

Sons of the Forge

Charged with a solemn duty by the Primarch Vulkan himself, Forgefather T'kell of the Salamanders prepares for what may be his last journey. Along with a chosen few of the Legion's elite Firedrakes , he must  bear the last seven of Vulkan's greatest weapons away to the secret vault known as the Wrought, putting them forever beyond the reach of enemy and ally alike. But word has already spread of these legendary artifacts ...

Written by Nick Kyme

Magnus the Red: Master of Prospero

The Thirteenth Wolf (Audio Drama)

For more than two hundred years, the armies of the Emperor of Mankind fought to reconquer the galaxy - led by the superhuman primarchs, the Space Marine Legions brought countless worlds back under the rule of ancient Terra. Now Horus, once honoured Warmaster and favoured son of the Emperor, has been corrupted by the whispered promises of Chaos. At his command the Imperium is torn apart by a terrible and bloody civil war, the likes of which the galaxy has never seen... At the Emperor's command were the Wolves of Russ unleashed, but it is by the will of Horus alone that Prospero now burns. The VIth Legion have stormed the world of Magnus the Red, with venerable warriors of the Thirteenth Great Company always to be found where the fighting is at its most bloody, seeking to write their own names into the sagas of Fenris. But the Thousand Sons are far from defeated, and their foul sorcery may yet be the doom of all, deep within the maddening heart of the Portal Maze.

We know that 13th Great Company of the Space Wolves spent 10,000 years in the warp after the Battle of Prospero, but what events in the aftermath of the invasion led them to that fate?

Written by Gav Thorpe. Running time 68 minutes.

There is also a cool new artwork for Blood Angels fans (for a former ebook only story) - thanks @ LordValrak =)

Last but not least - there are some more Primarch novels on the way -  Perturabo: The Hammer of Olympia, written by Guy Haley. It will feature two stories - before he got unified with the Emperor, and when he unleashes his Legion's fury upon Olympia. There will also be a Lorgar book by Gav Thorpe and Ferrus Manus by David Guymer.

Paired up with Inferno (which may get released within the next 3 months), it looks like we have an awesome reading line-up for the end of the year. And the cover arts are really awesome again! What story are you most interested in? Write us in the comments below :)

Are the re-boxes from Betrayal at Calth - MKIV Marines, Cataphractii Terminators, Contemptor Dreadnoughts and Heroes in single boxes.

They are btw branded as "The Horus Heresy", and also got the Warhammer 40k logo on their boxes:

Last but not least - two upcoming books from Black Library - possible spoilers so don't read further if you want to avoid them!

Corax - Nevermore

As the Horus Heresy gathers pace, the Raven Guard primarch Corax and the remnants of his once mighty Legion now wage an entirely different kind of war – liberating worlds oppressed by the traitor forces.

After Isstvan, after Deliverance, the Raven Guard still endure. Their primarch Corvus Corax has rallied countless warriors to his banner, striking back at the forces of the Warmaster on every front – from the degenerate hereteks of the Mechanicum to the cruel legionaries of the Sons of Horus, none shall escape his wrath. But although Corax has managed to stall the physical corruption of his own Space Marines, what of their spirit? And what sinister end must await those who dwell forever in the darkness? This anthology contains all of Gav Thorpe’s tales of the Raven Guard in the Horus Heresy – the novellas Soulforge and Ravenlord, along with the short stories ‘The Shadowmasters’, ‘The Value of Fear’ and ‘Raptor’. Also included is the brand new novella Weregeld, bringing Corax’s legend to its grim conclusion.

Magnus the Red - Master of Prospero

The third novel in The Horus Heresy: Primarchs series, a brand new sequence of novels focused on the superhuman sons of the Emperor.

Lord of the mystical and uncanny, Magnus the Red has long studied the ancient crafts of sorcery. A psyker without peer, save only for the Emperor himself, he commands his loyal followers of the Thousand Sons Legion in the Great Crusade, always vigilant for any lost knowledge they might recover from the remains of dead human civilisations. Now, fighting alongside his brother Perturabo of the Iron Warriors, Magnus begins to foresee an approaching nexus of fate. Will he remain true to their mutual aims, or divert his own efforts towards furthering his own mastery of the warp?

Black Library: Horus Heresy Primarchs, and The Silent War

Howdy Guys and Girls :)

Today we have a little preview for the 2nd Primarchs books, aswell as The Silent War. We already talked about "Roboute Guilliman: Lord of Ultramar" in the past. Pretty cool to see the Primarchs getting some stories, especially if they are set around the Great Crusade. That said, afaik not all stories are set during that era - some are during the Crusade, others during the Heresy and some even during the Scouring.

Leman Russ - the Great Wolf

The second part of the series is about Leman Russ - little SPOILERS ahead!!

"Many are the sagas of Leman Russ, Lord of Winter and War, most fearsome of the Emperor s primarch sons. At the height of the Great Crusade, his Space Wolves fight to bring the rebel world of Dulan to compliance. Enraged by the defiance of the tyrant Durath, Russ has pledged to strike him down personally but his brother Lion El Jonson of the Dark Angels advises more caution. With the might of two Legions arrayed against Durath, tensions nevertheless run high, and the rivalry between the Wolf and the Lion threatens to engulf them all."

The story of The Lion and the Wolf? Awesome! One of my favourite pieces of lore, but not sure if it will be good to get a "canon" version now.

The Silent War

"Anthology of tales about the secret missions that underpin the entire Horus Heresy series. While loyalist and traitor forces clash on a thousand battlefields across the galaxy, a very different kind of war is being fought in the shadows. Rogal Dorn and his Legion prepare to defend the Solar System against the armies of Warmaster Horus, even as Malcador the Sigillite charges his many agents and spies with missions of the utmost secrecy. The future of the Imperium is being shaped by unseen hands... This Horus Heresy anthology contains fourteen stories by some of Black Library's top authors, including James Swallow, Chris Wraight, John French, Anthony Reynolds and many more."

We already heard about this at the Horus Heresy weekender - it's basically a shadow war fought by both sites. I really hope we see some Sisters of Silence action here!

You can pre-order both books, aswell as Guilliman at Amazon!

The Horus Heresy: Primarchs novels

Howdy Guys and Girls - take a look at a new upcoming series of 30k books, starting with none other than Roboute Guilliman!

Launch title in The Horus Heresy: Primarchs series, a brand new sequence of novels from Black Library.

Long before the coming of the Imperium, the realm of Ultramar was ruled by Roboute Guilliman, the last Battle King of Macragge. Even after learning of his true heritage as a primarch son of the Emperor of Mankind, he strove to expand his domain as efficiently and benevolently as possible, with the XIII Legion Ultramarines as his alone to command. Now, facing a rival empire on the ork-held world of Thoas, Guilliman must choose his weapons carefully – otherwise his dream of a brighter future could be lost forever ...

240 pages.

Release is supposed to be around October. Cover isn't finished yet :)

What do you think about this? A spin off series about the Primarchs showing them before the outbreak of the heresy? Some more background for the Great Crusade? Maybe a book that shows how awesome Ferrus Manus was? Write us in the comments below!
