Ferrus vs Fulgrim and the Isstvan 5 board in its glory

Hi Bunnies

Here it is in its glory. Hundreds of Legionnaires and 2 Primarchs knocking several colours of feth out of each other. This board can only be expanded upon too. It is just screaming to be made twice as wide and covered with the other Legions.

The Centrepiece of it all. And one hell of a cake topper.

The teams did several Diorama bases featuring the Emperor's Children and Iron Hands slaughtering each other.

Not in Book 2 but you can feel them being readied for book 3 Extermination

Same with this awesome bit of kit. I was a bit unhappy to find the Castellum (one of my purchases) was not in book 2. Then I spoke to Tony C. who informed me it will be in book 3 (eta April), and that it will be available as a download in the next few weeks.

Looks deadly but I have no idea how deadly yet. I will be starting it as soon as I finish my Medusa. And I will do a painting guide too :)

This poor lil fella was all alone. :( want FW to do some dead models for us to grab too. Kind of complete the Massacre board.

Some Guy.

Next Gamesday you will see the Prospero Board. Count on it guys.

The Horus Heresy Book 2 Massacre: Presumptions.

Ok Heresy Fans. We are less than 2 months from the predicted release of the Massacre book and all fans of 30K are salivating on their keyboards at this imminent release. So what do we expect?

We know the Legions that will appear in the book are; Salamanders, Night Lords, Word Bearers and Iron Hands.

Salamanders
The Salamanders have the Firedrakes Terminator squad, no images as of yet though. The models may not have even be started currently, but they were play testing them as of the Heresy Weekender.

Word Bearers
Models for Kor and Erebus are under construction and it is my belief they will be at Games Day and would even wage money on it.
The Legion has the Ashen circle Destroyer Squad (under construction); this poses a dilemma for me though. As all Legion lists in Betrayal only had one specialist squad it leads me to believe the Gal Vorbak might not be in this book but the Calth book or later (could be wrong though).
Lorgar might have Bitch-Lorgar rules and Chaos imbued-Lorgar rules (this was being trialled and heard it from the Alan Bligh at the Weekender).

Iron Hands
Gorgon Terminators; we saw you like Terminators, so we put Terminators on your Terminators and got you the Terminator Terminator. These will be insane. I wonder if they will be 2+, 3++.
Ferrus will be at Gamesday. This is certain for me too as the board is being worked on still and they would want to integrate the Diorama that Simon Egan is working on into the board for display. The Gorgon will be there, so should be the Morlocks (1st Company). If this is the case then that means there may be no specialist rules for the first Company units; I can't imagine any Legion having 2 Specialist Terminator units. So maybe it will be a Battle formation of some sort or maybe a doctrine to field a Company of them. Forge World could just be releasing a set of Cataphractii Shoulderpads and bionics to upgrade the Cataphractii Terminators to Morlocks.

Night Lords
I can't imagine Curze being released for another 6 months (might see him and Lorgar and the Heresy weekender or the open day).
There will be some terrifying early Raptors and hopefully the Atramentar.
As I am collecting the Night Lords as my second Legion I cannot wait. Especially for everyone's favourite starfighter riding psychopath Sevatar. I do hope it is also Sheng they release too.

Supporting other Legions - Updated

Emperors' Children
Now here is an interesting turn of events. We have the Phoenix Guard and Karkophoni being worked on, so we should expect to see them at Gamesday and in this forthcoming book too. So that is a total of 3 specialist squads for the 3rd Legion, so we should expect more support in future books of Older Legions.
If the Karkophoni is being created this leads me to expect that either Julius Kaesoron and/or Marius Vairosean will be created and that their rules will be in this book. Still no sign of Tarvitz or Lucius models (Lucius could have rules in this book though instead of one of the Captains above, which would make a lot of sense).
We are still awaiting Fabius and his creations too though :) but these should appear later in what I can assume as a series of books which detail the fights going towards Terra (WHICH WOULD BE EPIC FORGE WORLD!!). This would bring the specialist squads for this Legion to 4 between the Heresy inception and the Siege of Terra. Now if this is the case then we should expect similar for other Legions.

Sons of Horus
The Reaver attack squad has been released. So this is 2 Legion specific squads for the Sons of Horus now, could there be another coming to make this up to 3? Or will it come in a later book?
So if an Emperor's Children character is created then I would have to assume rules for another one or two Sons of Horus Character may be found in this book (as they have been released in packs of two thus far). But who? I would stake money on Little Horus and/or Falkas Kibre (who Forge World would have a lot of freedom to flesh out).

Mechanicum
Expect to see experimental rules for the Castellax coming soon. This is because they are ready for release and they have just released the Whirlwind Experimental rules. 2 months to test and update into a book and print is not a lot of time.

23/08/13 - They have been released now but no rules. Book is round the corner :)

Death Guard
I expect to see Typhon and maybe the Grave Wardens in book 2 (Maybe a doctrine required to field their Company - similar to the Morlocks above). I would also expect to see an Apocalyptic Destroyer squad in Book 2 too, possibly a unit such as "The Graven" as have just read "Distant echoes of old night" Mk3 Destroyer Legionaires would look amazing too.

23/08/13 - Think book 2 now

World Eaters
I would expect to see the Devourers (Angron's Bodyguard) and another murderous looking unit too. Maybe it's time for a Khärn sandwich too.

23/08/13 - Think book 2 now

Can't wait 'til Games Day now. We will be posting pics on the fly regarding the Massacre book and the Forge World section at the event. Looking forward to having my chatting time with the designers and will be quizzing Alan a lot on this new book hopefully too.

Exciting times ahead for our favourite timeline.

26/07/2013 Forge World New Stuff

Hi all

Here is Forge Worlds weekly release with descriptions. What an awesome release this is! In our recent battle report we got to see just how effective the Bolter, Bolt Pistol and Chainsword combination is and now FW have released the Legion packs for them. Also, the release of Sons of Horus Reaver Attack Squad...we do get spoiled, don't we?
Official FW description:
If fighting is expected to be at close quarters, such as in boarding actions or trench clearance, Tactical squads can sometimes forgo the standard bolter in favour of the combination of a bolt pistol and chainsword, allowing the Astartes more manoeuvrability in whatever tight confines they may find themselves in. These more assault orientated units are referred to as Despoiler Squads within the Legiones Astartes.

Official FW description:
Reaver squads in many ways epitomised the Sons of Horus Legion’s way of war. Heavily influenced by the tactics used in the incessant tribal warfare of Cthonia, Reaver units specialised in lightning-swift assaults which maimed and disabled their foes; striking down leaders, and mercilessly cutting down any who were weak or isolated. Each Reaver unit, whether squad or entire company in strength, was effectively a warband in its own right, and its warriors fought more as individuals than regimented soldiers, and all were utterly lethal against the enemies of Mankind during the Great Crusade.

Awesome!

Off to make another order lol

Catch you all soon

19/07/2013 FW Releases

Hey all

Check out these awesome pre-heresy releases from Forge World this week!

We have previewed the Javelin Attack Speeder previously from the Openday and it looks epic! So check these out in Ravenguard and Emperors Children flavours:

The Warhammer 40,000 rules for these look really good and here is the description from the FW website:
Larger and more heavily armoured than the common pattern of Land Speeder, the Javelin Attack Speeder is a nigh-irreplaceable relic of a bygone age of technological mastery. Gravitic nullification plates, the secret of whose production and maintenance have long since been lost, allow the Javelin to mount an array of heavy weaponry more akin to a heavy tank destroyer than a nimble Land Speeder, allowing them to make pinpoint strikes on enemy armour or infantry with devastating lascannon or missile barrage. Those Chapters of Space Marines whose histories stretch back into the grim days of the Imperium’s founding may, if they are fortunate, still possess a few justly revered Javelins within the sanctified depths of their armouries. £52 each - bargain!

Here is the Deimos Pattern Whirlwind Scorius:

This looks awesome in Night Lord colours! The experimental rules look devastating and thus FUN!

Here is the description from the FW website:
An ancient variant of the more common Whirlwind missile tank, the Scorpius was designed with a single purpose in mind – the destruction of heavily armoured infantry. The Scorpius variant replaces the Whirlwind’s multiple missile launcher system with the intricate drum-fed scorpius launcher, whose implosive warheads are devastating to armoured infantry and light vehicles. The Whirlwind Scorpius’ origins lie in the dark days of the first inter-Legion civil war and, in more recent times, it has become an all but forgotten relic amongst some Chapters as the ability to manufacture its complex munitions has become a forgotten art, but for other Chapters it still remains a potent weapon of war. £49 woop- woop!

Also released was the Thallax Cohort bundle! Great way to get a discount on these amazing and stunning models!
Will look great running alongside some Iron Hands on Isstvan 5!

And there we have it...another week another hole burned into my pocket!

I hope you all enjoy the releases as much as we do!

Take it easy, catch you all soon

Forge World Open Day 2013 Highlights

Hi all

Quick review of the day

New Jetbikes
After a talking with Darren Parrwood there are 2 areas I think worth discussing:
The scimitar bike was released before more well known jetbikes. This was because the design team wanted more variety in the Horus Heresy project and didn't want people to only buy bikes that they knew already - such as the one Sammael rides.
Although he has not been asked to do so, Darren has started work on the next style o f jetbike in his lunch hours.

Land Speeder
This model is truly sensational. Darren says he has one more week on it before it will go into production. In his experience, this means it should be released within 3 months.

Primarches
Fulgrim is nearly done!! Simon Egans is just finishing the cloak - he is not happy with he the cloak looks so far. He said that it may be released by the Horus Heresy weekender in May! Next Primarch he has been tasked to work on is Ferrus Manus. Simon says he is looking forward to working on Leman Russ, but said its his worst nightmare lol. He is currently working on a pre-heresy Space Wolf army.
Bit of a conflicting bit of information here (unless another designer is working on the Primarches too) Alan Bligh wants all entries from one book finished before they move on to the next...could Horus and Mortarion be round the corner??

Book 2: Massacre
Alan Bligh says this will hopefully be released at Games Day UK. It is being written at the same time as Book 3. The 4 legions in this book are:
Salamanders
Night Lords
Word Bearers
Iron Hands

Book 3: Extermination
Alan Bligh says this will be released around Christmas or early next year. The 4 legions are:
Alpha Legion
Raven Guard
Iron Warriors
And dun dun duuuun....Imperial Fists. . . .

I was shocked by the inclusion of Dorns finest, however Alan said that the Battle at Phall will play a big part in it. Zone Mortalis anyone??

Scenery
No really much to say about this except the new tiles are stunning (even he fantasy one). Blake Spence said that he couldn't tell us much. His project will be Heresy based and will involve destroyed vehicles/machinery. My belief is this will be a killing-fields, drop pod tile for the Massacre release...awesome.

2 Missing Legions
When quizzed about the missing 2 legions being expanded on he said 'No, then they wouldn't be missing legions would they' this made me feel real stoopid.

A secret about the Iron Hands
Alan Bligh hinted at a 'secret nobody knows about the Iron Hands,' being divulged in Massacre - could Ferrus have survived the beheading?

No, he couldn't lol

Air combat
Alan Bligh hinted at more flyers. He said that the best thing to combat a flyer...is another flyer lol. He said that he would like this to be expanded on in the future.

Warlord titan
The awesome William Hayes stated that 'a Warlord Titan would only be slightly bigger than a Reaver, however it would be much more bulky!' After questioning Forge World on facebook last week, Drake was told will was not working on Titans at the current time. Could this have been a decoy?

Palatine blades
Stunning - 100% stunning!! The armour is ornamental and the charnabal sabres (sculpted by William Hayes) are prefect. Shut up and take my savings!!!!

Sons of Horus Command sprue
This was neat. Leads me to believe we will see specific command upgrades for each legion.

Everything will get rules and a model...eventually.
Alan Bligh stated that everything will get rules and a model eventually. Big news! Lots of people doubt that the Emperor will be getting a model. Could he be the exception though? I look forward to the Sigilite. Who do you most look forward to?

New Tau
Darren Parrwood's next project is some new 'small Tau stuff,' lets pray for some new Kroot, Vespid or even demiurge?

There is still loads to discuss and we will post more information when it is remembered. It was a brilliant day. We have a lot to look forward to.
