Moving day. Display or Box?

The Battle Bunny fortress of Doom is expanding. Khall and I are moving into a 4 Bed home for a year to do some saving.

So all the display minis are in boxes / Drawers and are ready to be shipped. Which brings me to my question: are you a model displayed or a model Box'r?

Personally I have a lovely glass display cabinet and am about to get a 2nd one today. It is the Billy unit from IKEA. Displaying our Beautiful Horus Heresy Minis for me is a necessity. It looks surprisingly clean and un-cluttered when stored in a system like this. Also I find myself stopping and admiring our groups' minis more and more.

Let me know your opinions below.

  1. Was just talking about this on another blog! I tend to store my mini's in a non enclosed ikea unit (the kallax http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30275861/). But my mini's always end up dusted, and it's quite disorganized.

Do you use any lighting in the case? Or just as is? I think i might loot your idea...i actually have some billy's upstairs not being used for much. (Kindles and Nooks have removed most of the old book collection!)

    1. Currently not. I was thinking about it.
Alternatively there is a lovely pure glass display unit from ikea but I think it only has 3 tiers.
The Billy is good though as the room can just as easily look like a dining room.
I will do another post when whole gaming room is finished later today.

The glass one looks very Warhammer-worldy which is great.

    1. Can you purchase additional shelves for it or is it a 3 tier only job?

  3. 3 tier only and it's about 1.5m tall, I'll be purchasing another soon but I'm looking at manufacturing a better bigger taller version so I can keep a realm of battle board on each shelf
