Ubbag Jules was one of the first 1000 of aspirants to be inducted from Barbarus, and pledge his allegiance to the Emperor of mankind. Ubbag ascended slowly through the ranks and was only recently promoted to the position of Section leader after the cleansing of Purbak IV. Ubbag, ever a stoic and fearless Legionnaire of the 2nd Company under Commander Grulgor, was promoted to Section Leader after he led a small detachment of Death Guard from the main battle line at the fall of Hydes' gate to hold the Venera river crossing for 36 hours. When the Death Guard were able to enforce Ubbag's position they found a torrential river choked with Xenos blood which ran like thick treacle and a defiant bulwark of just 7 filth covered Death Guard, holding out against a horde of atleast 2000 of the foul creatures, and more shockingly; completely free of ammunition. The bottleneck held firm and the crossing was secured, preventing the whole of West Gurret from being overrun - which would have added around 3 months to the campaign and put a stain on Grulgor's fledging career.
Commander Grulgor recognised the Blood covered Lieutenant - who now looked more akin to a death world savage - and exclaimed "only a true son of Barbarus could fight in conditions such as these, and only true sons we need to lead!"
Grulgor has put Ubbag in charge of 2000 Death Guard + Heavy armour for the spearhead attack on Valten. Acting directly under Ferrus Manus, we will see if the Orks hold the city gates against the X and XIV Legions.
OMG Death Guard Fellblade
ReplyDeleteGreat fluff and great paints!!
Why yes. Yes it is. I will get a few pics of it and my Legion for Wednesday for Legions on parade.
DeleteLooking really good. What war gear have you given him? And what kind of squad were you thinking of putting him in?
ReplyDeleteWargear-wise I think it will be a Paragon Blade and Archaeotech pistol with Artificisr armour and Iron Halo. Didn't want to go for the standard Power Scythe with this guy, but wanted to make him a Imperial idealist from the outset - but who knows which side he will end up on at the Heresy.
DeleteRetinue-wise I will be giving him 2 Deathshroud for this first Campaign, but have aspirations on a Command squad of 6.
Can I ask what colours you used for the pistol? As I have one in my army and I'm not sure how to paint it yet
DeleteWarplock base over black, then did a layer of Balthasar gold as I didn't want it too ostentatious, then washed with Agrax and highlighted with Mithril Silver (old faithful).
DeleteLoving the looks of him, be good to see him scoring through waves of orks!
ReplyDeleteTrully impressive paint scheme, but its the background that really pulled me in. Really great job mate.
ReplyDeleteCheers Khall. I wanted him to have some character and think he will be very Blunt and Death Guardy.
DeleteI wanted to go for a Chaos backpack as I saw one in the Betrayal book for the Death Guard. It is a test bed piece and thought it looked quite Artificier.
ReplyDeleteThey are looking awsome dude, can't wait to fight along side him.
