Skitarii up for pre order.

Hi all.

The long and many years awaited Skitarii have finally arrived. The sculpts are very impressive in my opinion and are extremely close to the original art by John Blanche of his Skitarii (Tech Guard).

They do feel very Grim dark to me, which I am thankful for. Still not too ennamered by the walkers, but they may grow on me.

So now to the Sprues;

Very impressive. The flowing robes are completely independent of the legs. The Helmet variants are arrayed straight on and from the side too. Weapons are Cultist like (these two hands go together and fit snugly).
Now with all the talk about Forge World's expansion of the Skitarii and their variants I think these Sprues could easily accommodate it. I say this as the Magaera and Styrix Knights were some of the first kits that FW had access to the digital sculpts for, so I can imagine a series / pack of alternative arms, weapons and heads to be designed by FW to go with this unit.

I would be interested to see if FW did a variant of this kit, but I doubt it.

What do you think of the new Models?

  3. Love them. Think I'll convert the Skitarii into the Numen Gun Clans to ally with my World Eaters. Won't take much to "techno barbarian" them up.

    1. What sort of things would you do?

    2. Mainly head swaps, weapon swaps and MORE SKULLS. I think mixing them with the Chaos Marauder horsemen would produce some good results.

  4. Really nice looking models. Like the bipedal walker. I saw a leaked pic of a quadraped walker...not so good lol.

  6. On the subject of forgeworld expansions, I think it'd be interesting if any potential upgrade kits allowed new ways to field the skitarii. I'm think along the lines of devastator or assault marines applied to skitarii. just what I'd like personally. The sculpts themselves are gorgeous though!

    1. oh yeah, we need some skitarii breachers/boarding-troops with shields and volkites, rapiers (with conversion beamers, lightning guns or plasmacannons?) and close-combat Skitarii's :P

  7. Love the Skitarii and the walkers are my favourite. I'm really hoping Forgeworld do an upgrade kit for it to make some variations. The leaked quad walker image is the only thing i'm not completely over the moon with and even that doesn't look bad to me just so-so.

    I've begun ordering some to use with my Knights of House Cydonia in 40k, I'm looking forward to fielding the Dragoons with the Errant that I'm building, and i'm looking forward to Forgeworld giving the 30k of for them so i can add/ally them to my Taghmata Omnissiah of Forgeworld St Hoagland and House Cydonia Knights in 30k games too.

    1. A damn fine Taghmata you have too. Very well weathered too, especially the chipping and strikes. If you fancy featuring them on our Legions on Parade let me know, follow links on left when you have a Taghmata you think is big enough :)

      I have emailed FW now asking about the Skitarii and if they are 30k-ready. In the White dwarf it does say they are fielding weapons they have for tens of thousands of years - which to me means fair game.

    1. Yeah I read that. They sound very interesting. If they are like the concept art they are rumoured to be like, and GW does them justice: well they may just be the best models of the year. Will keep checking your thread :)
