Forge World: What's outstanding, who gets the most love and what's been seen?

Hi all

I was sitting there the other day wondering where certain characters, units, upgrades and Primarchs were. I decided to knock up a chart to see which Legions got the most love and who are really overdue. Certain bodyguard names elude my thoughts at the moment, if you know any others comment below.

I want to keep this updated with new releases etc.

Due to the complete lack of Characters for Iron Warriors and Raven Guard I really am expecting Perturabo next sculpted 3D by Edgar (as Egan wants to do Corax I hear), followed by Corax.

Edgar is working on a Primarch right now and apparently it looks incredible according to Egan. :)

The Characters from Betrayal need some love soon, but I suspect many will be omitted.
Now Dynatt has been mentioned in a Novella but we have not met him yet properly in the Black Library stories. He is the only non Black Library or Background character to be released (excluding the FW ltd edition IW and AL). Many other characters above may never see the light of day such as Kyr (which would suck as he is awesome).

We have seen the Iron Warrior Transfers and they look great. Others are in progress. Also we have seen the White Scar mk2 upgrade set, as apparently FW are planning to release Legion upgrade sets for the later Legions that may not have a Black book for a while.

Alpha Legion, Iron Warrior and Raven Guard Specialist units can't be too far off.

Who has had the most love?

Word Bearers by far due to nearly all of their characters having a model out already, and they are onto their 3rd Legion Specific Squad!

Lots of awesome times ahead, I just hope the backlog from Betrayal gets sorted soon, why Tarvitz is not out yet is beyond me.

  1. I wonder how they will fit the shattered legion's first captains into the mix.

    1. All are deceased bar Agapito. Such a shame they were not brought in at Book 1.
Only hope of seeing them now in my opinion is in a Great Crusade style book series. Considering FW can charge up to £30 for one special character and the Horus Heresy is a time of Heroes, I am suprised we don't see 5 for each Legion in each book. Which I would love.

    2. Or book 2 in Numeon's case.

    3. Surely they can't leave out such popular characters such as numeon, so I'm sure they'll fit him and many other characters in at some point.

  2. Back when Forge World had a social media presence, I asked if they would consider doing a character for Corswain of the Dark Angels, and they did respond saying that they would be looking at that character closely.

  3. I would love to see minis for every character, sadly lots of ´em are missing -.-

Thanks a lot for the charts, though I really have a hard time reading them due to low resolution.

    1. Sorry about that. As with our event reporting from the field, our res can be sadly low. Our Cameras are good but the app we post through is a bit poor when it comes to uploading photos. Working on it though.

    1. Regarding the Dark Angels. Their first book should be Diamat. Zahariel and Corswain would be perfect choices for this. Luther and Astelan should only be introduced at Caliban in my opinion.

  5. Well, things related to the III Legion seem to have dried up some time ago, haven't they? They have a nice assortment of models but regrettably their role in the Heresy is more at the sidelines than at the fore of events. But I think they are being let down by the narrative too. We had a very interesting insight into them in the short stories leading to "Angel Exterminatus", but that was almost three years ago, if I recall correctly. Have they been on a hangover since then? Cheers.

    1. Throne! A III Legion hangover would be terrible lol.
Well Horus separated them from Fulgrim in Vengeful Spirit, so I believe a story is being planned for them. But they are not a large Legion any more so I can just imagine them fulfilling a raiding role from here on.
They have had a lot of love with the HH Black books to this point.
Would love to hear what they are upto post Angel Exterminatus.

  6. A few thoughts:

    1. What about Tetrarch Nicodemus (Legionary Champion, Honour Guard to Guilliman). Appears in the short-story 'The Iron Within' (and therefore in the compilation, 'Age of Darkness'). I dont know what happens to him later in the series (as I'm still going through them), but might he be the Ultramarine seen in this week's FW bulletin, bulletin #65?
    2. Garro. I'm desperate to read more about Garro and the formation of the Inquisition (and am slightly annoyed that the tale is only really available as a set of audio books), and would also love to see these guys represented in miniature form.

Also, looking at your second spreadsheet (Legion Watch - Units) - it can't be long now till Spaces Wolves and Thousand Sons get some loving, right?! They have absolutely nothing so far!

    1. The model on the bulletin is an Invictarii Suzerein. Nicodemus doesn't have rules in Tempest so I think a model will be a way off (if at all). I think Space Wolves and 1k Sons will be in the next book at Christmas time!
