Here the 5th Legion have finally received some love from Forge World.
Great looking Mk2 helms. It makes sense for them to get mk2 upgrades in my opinion. A Legion which wars constantly and the Imperium at large does not really know or keep track of their location; would not be constantly refitted or upgraded.
The ornamentation on their curiass' looks great too.
IDK bout you but I was hoping for a helmet less guy with a nasty scar and a little beard. but the torsos look great, and I like the different looking icon, not sure how to paint it though. its pretty thin, so I don't think I can manage a red outline.
I love the MK II armor look of these guys. Going to have to use the helmets for certain members of other legions for variety sake.... interesting though, immediately following the new White Scars upgrade kits ad on Forge World's site, they advertise the MK IV bike unit, and MK IV speeder bike unit they sell. That is the ONLY reason I thought that FW would give the White Scars MK IV upgrade kits, because I knew that bikes, speeder bikes and land speeders would be a focal point for a WS legion. But there are no MK IV helmet and torso WS upgrades, just Shoulder Pads. Just thought that was odd... but again, they look amazing!
My thoughts too... They also mention the Scimitar Bike in the newsletter, so one would think they would make it MK IV... Maybe we'll see other Mk on bikes at some point in the future.
Pretty sure we will see the mk2 option soon enough. We have just seen rapier's with mk2 and mk4 crew, so I think they know that they would be appreciated. Don't expect mk3 though lol.
Those helmets will probably look quite good on mk4 suits. Other than the visor they are a similar shape. I'd be surprised if we don't see a new jetbike released along side these guys, the scimitar is the only HH item they do not stock in the FW store at warhammer world, which suggests they have no need to stock it as they don't sell many. Every other item has at least one unit in stock! I think FW know its not a winner...
The worst thing is I think that's entirely a pricing and numbers needed issue. I know when I worked up an 1850pt list I only had about 30 models in it, and 10-12 of those were jetbikes - so naturally never going to sell hugely. Maybe their Legiones Astartes/Rite of War will help matters?
Absolutely stunning in my opinion, the best upgrade kit so far! I think this might jump start my White Scars legion, makes me excited for the Khan :)
ReplyDeleteI actually agree too. You should Mike :)

ReplyDeleteWould have been cool. Maybe a veteran set of heads may come out
DeleteFor them.
holy crap they look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI think these are amongst they're best work, and I'd love to see how the white/red/gold scheme would interact with these helmets!
ReplyDeleteMust resist, must resist, must resist
ReplyDeleteYou can try now, but you wait until you see the Stormseer designs. Absolutely incredible sketches. Steve Whitehead is ultra talented.
DeleteAnyone else get a lunawolves vibe from those helmets? Oh the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh dear...look amazing...
ReplyDeleteI know Brother. I can't wait for you to get round to these.
DeletePerfect example of a legion style that's well-matched to the mark of armor the upgrades are for. These look great with MKII armor.
ReplyDeleteLooks superb. Intend to use the head set with my Sons of Horus, only minor modification needed!
ReplyDeleteNever been much for White Scars, but these are great! I should have known that FW would get me hooked on ALL legions.
ReplyDeleteYou doubted their ability?
DeleteNo! No heresy here! Emperor bless the Emperor, and all that!

DeleteI know what you are saying Dave. They look far closer to MK4 variant than to MK2 as with the Iron Warrior ones.
DeleteYeah Andy. I think aim for 2500 pt games to get a Legion field atleast I think, to get more Bikes and speeders.
not sure if anyone noticed but one of the torsos have hanging chopped hand oO wtf!!!
