Khall; A Look At What Could Be Coming In Horus Heresy; Book 6

Hey all,

Had a pretty busy few days...awake many hours and doing a lot of standing around or driving. Generally this gives me a fairly good opportunity to have a nice think. Luckily there was so much still to absorb from the Open Day. Unfortunately (for those who couldn't attend) a lot of what is said at these events goes unreported, not because it is boring or irrelevant but purely because we are so busy on these days it becomes very easy to forget or change the priorities of our questioning.

Speaking to Zyntax and Andrew Dennett on the recent 'Deathfire Artwork' post, I started piecing a few bits together (which usually leads to high-octane verbal diarrhoea directed at Drake lol) and I thought I would discuss some of this guesswork here.

So, Book 6 is coming around Christmas and from information I received here is some information:
It will be smaller than the other books.
There will be rules for White Scars, Blood Angels and Dark Angels - but not special units or characters.
It will be based around shattered legions - not just the ones we know of, also loyalist factions for the traitor legions?
There will be Imperial Agents (Black Shields were mentioned).
It will follow some of the events in the Meduson compilation.

The following is conjecture based on guesswork and maybe a splash of wishful thinking. I believe some of the characters who are synonymous with the shattered legions could get rules. Lets take a look:
Numeon - this will probably be the only opportunity to bring this legend in!
Meduson - very active, fething off the SoH in multiple warzones.
Byron Henricos - same again, really to the fight to the traitors.
Sharrowkyn and Weyland? Is there going to be a better time to introduce them?
Yesugei - hanging out with Henricos iirc
Hibou Khan - we know he started taking part in kill teams after Scars...does that count as shattered? Lol
If Hibou is in then bet your bottom dollar Little Horus will get some rules!
The Knights Errant have been mentioned but unsubstantiated. Where else could they fit in?
Some Assassins too maybe?
What about John Grammaticus et al?

These are just a few of my thoughts and the direction I would like to see the new book go. I can also imagine seeing rules for Jaghatai as I dont see where else they will fit him in...

So what do you all think? Are these coherent thoughts or the ramblings of someone with sleep deprivation? Have we missed anything Heresy related from the Open Day?

Comment below peeps

All points raised above seem logical and coherent - and if becomes true will be an amazing book!!

  2. I wasn't at the FW Open Day, so i don't know exactly what they said about book 6, but as you mention here and as from what i've heard from a few other places, it's only legion-rules for White Scars, Blood Angels and Dark Angels and no characters. If that is true, we'll probably not see Yeshugei, Hibou or Jaghatai.

  3. My Salamanders currently stand at Vulkan, 10 Firedrakes, 5 Pyroclasts, a Forge Father and the dreadnought that I've forgotten the name of but all are currently undercoated or being built - once painted I'll attempt photos!!

  4. Hi all. Here comes my Diarrhea. ;)
I was fortunate enough to go through an Artbook of Steve Whitehead (the chap sculpting the 3 Legion upgrades and also the awesome talent behind Sevatar and the Palatine blades), I have seen his artwork for a White scar Stormseer and it is incredible.
Now I agree this may be wishful thinking, but I really can imagine the White Scars with Jaghati and a few characters coming in book 6, they could be the Imperial Fists of Extermination - where the Primarch and 1st Captain are not really present but are written up as the next chance for Dorn to get his rules would be Terra. If you think about it, pretty much the same can be said for the Khan.
Also with Dark Angels and Blood Angels acting as full Legions, compared to White Scars which are semi-shattered, I would consider it very sensible at this point to actually do them to a full Legion rules and Character standard in book 6.

    1. I agree with you, it would be a good time to include them in book 6. Maybe they will. If they have until around christmas they have plenty of time to change their minds. :)

    2. Lol. Who knows. Was right about Perturabo and Eidolon though :)

    3. And i so hope that both you and Khall are right in this. My wallet probably disagrees with me on this, but a lot of the characters mentioned would have me buy them as soon as released.

  5. Having John Grammaticus join the fun would be very cool, but i have a hard time imagining how they would, rule-wise, tie him into it. Any ideas?

  6. I'm sorry I can't hear you over all the DARK ANGELS rumors. Yay! Also having the perpetuals in one of the books with rules would be neat fluff wise. Oh i would love to kitbash up a few of those folks...

  7. Do you know something about background of BA and DA Legions in Book 6?

    1. Hey Red. Unfortunately not. They said there will be enough rules for players to start their legions. That's all they said. Signis Prime and Thramas campaigns are probably 18 months or so away.

  8. Book 6 really seems like a much needed breather for the whole fw team (except maybe Alan B. himself). It should allow them to get all the units, characters and Primarchs up to date.

I spoke to Simon E. at length and got the impression he isn't doing Alpharius. Corax would be my guess, as has been said before. Simon also said they still intend to do multiple versions of some Primarchs: Up to 3 versions of Horus for example. And possibly 2 of Corax.

Alan B. said that there is no intention to complete the 3 remaining Primarchs by the end of the year, so I guess that means we could be seeing 2 before the end of 2015 and 1 early next year.

    Hope that helps.

    1. Hi Dantes. Yeah it does seem like another Conquest book which is coming.

Oh yes. It has to be the Ravenlord next. I think after seeing Eidolon that Israel G. Is more than competent to sculpt Alpharius, and Dorn (having done Sigismund and Pollux. Because of this I cannot be 100% sure which of the two would be done first.

Really?! Wow. hopefully they still try.

  10. A Malacador model would be really cool addition!! I know its unlikely but as he has been seen in alot of the HH series books with alot of the characters already released it does make some sense - at least to me anyway!!

  11. I thought that previous rumours suggested that the next book would be "Shadow Crusade"? (http://battlebunnies.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/notes-from-tempest-seminar.html, for example). I presume then that the second half of the Calth duology will be pushed back - and along with it, the one that'll deal with Prospero ...

    1. Sounds like it will be. I remember back when book 4 was to be Prospero. Going back to what may be book 7 now.
