Pre-Heresy Iron Warriors: Nârik Dreygur

Ladies, Gentlemen and Bunnies.

As mentioned in our most recent progress report - I needed a win. Bone Garland (whilst fun to paint) sometimes feel like wading through quick sand with the lack of regular big leaps in progress. So I treated myself to a mini which had been screaming at me from it's half painted form in the Cupboard for months now.

Mr Nârik Dreygur is finished.

Him and a Brother Legionnaire.

In the light. Wanted a IV on his chest as he gives the impression of being Iron Warrior to his core.

His Power Fist sports the Iron Warrior command icons, as does his shoulder.

Was tempted to do chevrons on the Bolt pistol but decided against it at the last minute.

Update: Head was done with Tallarn Flesh, with seraphim and Agrax wash. To layering of Tallarn flesh and Tallarn / Dwarf flesh (both thinned). I love these tones and are what I like to give every space marine (unless pallid). Below is Horus to illustrate why.

Pigments were a lot better in previous citadel paints in my opinion. A little purple and yellow wash was added around his eyes before layering was started in his case though.

Any way. Back to the Forges of Mars. Bone Garland won't paint himself.

    1. Cheers Colonel. I used Tallarn Flesh, inked with Seraphim Sepia / Agrax Earthshade. Then layered up Thinned Tallarn Flesh to dwarf/Tallarn flesh zenithally. The pigments in the old paints are far superior to the new ones (in my opinion) and last year's longer. Have added a Horus head to illustrate my fondness for them.

  5. Love the building he is posed on. How was it made if you don't mind my asking?

    1. The building was done with using 4 standard wall sections of the Sanctum imperialis (facing the wrong way out), and 2 of the big eagle doors facing the wrong way too. Foam board roof and then detailing

  7. Excellent. Heads/faces are the one thing that I just dread even thinking about. All models which cannot be given a helmet are just way down the assembly list.

  10. Praevian consuls are terrific fun with the rules they get. I need to model one sooner or later to represent a Carthage Cohort in my Word Bearers.
