Sons of Horus First Company update

Hello all!

My Sons of Horus First Company is moving along nicely, albeit slightly slower than I had been planning. The models are taking longer to paint than I think they should, as such all the target times I have set myself I haven't met! To aid progress I am painting in nearly every single spare minute that I get at the moment! I currently have 18 of the 30 Justaerin on the go and I have managed to apply 2 coats of the red and I have now started on the silver.

With the red done:

My current progress on the silver:

If you are missed my Justaerin painting guide you can find part 1 here and part 2 here.

I am hoping to get these completed ready for December 5th and the Bunnies Christmas get together, it is going to be very tight I think! I will be spending all of this evening and all of Sunday painting. Hopefully this will break the back of the work and I will only have a few small bits to finish off in the week.

Once I have finished up on these models I plan on getting my Fireraptor and 3 Dreadclaws asssembled. This will complete the assembly of all the models that I currently have for the SoH. The purchase of more Reavers and a super heavy needs to take place in the near future but I have yet to decide on which super heavy! After this it will be on to painting Abaddon and the remaining 11 Justaerin, then starting on the Reavers and vehicles. The next month will be very busy at work and I am rapidly running out of days of before Christmas, so my progress will be limited to the evenings after work. Hopefully I can make good use of the time I do manage to get!

  1. You are doing so well Andrew. Just keep your painting tray / area out and dip in and out whenever you get a spare moment to hit them up.
Regarding Super Heavies, I believe the Glaive was mentioned as one they utilised in Vengeful Spirit. Fellblade is also quite thuggish and goes with their demeanour I think. Both great tanks.

    1. Thanks Drake! Thankfully I have a permanent space to paint so dipping in and out is easy! I do like the Glaive, looks awesome! It is on my shortlist of possibles!

  2. Looking fantastic mate! I reckon a Typhon as it really is a beast and I know they used loads of them. Works with the get up close and personal vibe too.

  3. Loving your progress Darien! Can't wait to see some gold on them all, it's gonna look really striking and threatening on the tabletop.

Super heavies? Gotta be a Glaive for giant space lasery awesomeness.

    1. Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting the gold on them too! Hopefully by the end of Sunday I will have the gold completed!

The Glaive is an awesome model, one of my favourite tanks from Forgeworld.

    3. They are brass really, I use Runelord brass to paint them. For some reason I always I have a habit of calling it gold! Lol!
