The Ruinstorm calls - and the Red Angel answers

Howdy Guys and Girls :)

My Betrayal at Calth box-sets arrived today, and I'm pretty excited to announce my next Battle Bunnies Project - the Shadow Crusade (starting with Calth).

So, what exactly have I planned for this?

- two Zone Mortalis forces - Ultramarines and Word Bearers
- Daemons of Khorne - including a certain Daemonprince of the Ruinstorm
- Knights of House Vyronii - althought not part of Calth, i really want to start with them, - and I plan to connect them with my Ultramarines via Imperium Secundus
- my Zone Mortalis Board - i have enough tiles for a 6' x 4' board, and will work on this between my other projects

Plastic Backpack vs Resin Backpacks

The two Characters aren't glued together yet, just test fitting - need to say the models are all awesome (and I even like the Contemptor Dreadnoughts) - can't see a major difference between FW Mark IV and GW's version, besides maybe the sharpness of the knees. The helmets also have some cool variations in it, including a bionic eye.

The game itself looks fun, althought it could need some extra cards for more units and weapons.

Last but not least, I want to share something special for me with you - the first Horus Heresy model i painted back then during the release of Betrayal - Angron. I think it's the ideal time to introduce him, as he fits the theme very well - hope you like him!

Angron

The Red Angel, the Undefeated, Primarch of the World Eaters

"What would you know of struggle, Perfect Son? When have you fought against the mutilation of your mind? When have you had to do anything more than tally compliances and polish your armour? The people of your world named you Great One. The people of mine called me Slave. Which one of us landed on a paradise of civilization to be raised by a foster father, Roboute? Which one of us was given armies to lead after training in the halls of the Macraggian high-riders? Which one of us inherited a strong, cultured kingdom? And which one of us had to rise up against a kingdom with nothing but a horde of starving slaves? Which one of us was a child enslaved on a world of monsters, with his brain cut up by carving knives? Listen to your blue-clad wretches yelling of courage and honour, courage and honour, courage and honour. Do you even know the meaning of those words? Courage is fighting the kingdom which enslaves you, no matter that their armies outnumber yours by ten-thousand to one. You know nothing of courage. Honour is resisting a tyrant when all others suckle and grow fat on the hypocrisy he feeds them. You know nothing of honour."
- Angron, during the Shadow Crusade

Lady Atia

    2. Completely agree. That speech was fantastic. Aaron is my favourite author, followed by Gav Thorpe.
      Model looks great.

    3. Yeah - it's great how he made Angron a tragic character rather than a dumb brute!

    4. Like Frankenstein.
He looks great too by the way.
Any chance we could mabey get some pictures of the board itself? I'm actually kinda interested in that.

Truthfully I ment the board with the boxed set:)
But now that you reminded me about your actual boards I realize that those are going to be way more exciting.

    8. OK. Great. I'm really excited for the whole game. I'll be using my 40k chaos marines for the word bearers and the whole set for the smurfs.
Also what is a good loadout for terminators in this setting: 4 chainfists, 5 lightning claws, 4 power fists, or a mix?

    9. Please do show your ZM setup at some stage. I have been playing with the idea of getting one as a complete table does look great.

  2. Can we have a pic added of a plastic back pack next to a FW one please :)

    1. Nice. Can you remember the first mkIV ones? Nice that these are the third iteration of the Maximus backpack. As with the helmet look I am happy there are subtle variations to the back pack now.

    1. Battlefleet: Gothic^^

I prefere to call it Battlefleet: Heresy thought, after all, the "Gothic" came from the Gothic-War afaik :P

    2. Though since Games Workshop may be resurrecting BFG under Forge World, the opportunity to field Heresy-era fleets would be amazing. Even if it's just the standard Space Marine fleets with a few extra models to cover famous ships like the Vengeful Spirit and the Blessed Lady.

    5. The timing of the announcement to get back into specialist games strikes me as hardly a coincidence.
