Battle Bunnies 20 Legions of Xmas: Imperial Fists

On the seventh day of Xmas Santa gave to me:

Seven breachers breaching
Russ-is-a-slaying
Sa-vage laugh-ing kill-ers!
Dirty Ditch Diggers
Per-fect-ion
+++ Records Expunged +++
And a Legion full of Mys-ter-y

Or a VII Legion special one :)

Seven breachers breaching,
Six Meltas melting,
Five Tem-plars Dueling....
Four Phalanx Warders,
Three Spartans,
Two Typhons,
And a Thunderhawk for a Transport :D

Legion: VII
Name: Imperial Fists
Former Names: None
Primarch: Rogal Dorn (The Emperors Praetor, The Praetor of Terra.)
First Captain at the outbreak of the Heresy: Sigismund (First Emperors Champion) In-gaming terms an absolute Tank :D

FW Painting colour scheme (this was the official one that FW send out):
IMPERIAL FISTS
1. PAINT WITH AVERLAND SUNSET BASE, THEN OVER PAINT WITH YRIEL YELLOW.
2. HIGHLIGHT WITH FLASHGIT YELLOW.
3. GLAZE WITH CASANDORA YELLOW AND THEN WHEN THIS IS DRY WASH WITH AGRAX EARTHSHADE
4. DOT RANDOM SPOTS OF BURNT UMBER OIL PAINT OVER THE MODEL AND THEN FLOOD THE MODEL WITH DOWNWARD STROKES OF PURE WHITE SPIRIT, SO THAT THE OIL PAINT ALMOST COMPLETELY RUNS OFF THE MODEL, BUT STILL TINTS IT AND STAYS IN THE CREVICES.

Tyler's paint scheme:
I use Averland Sunset as a base.
This is followed by a recess wash of Agrax Earthshade. I then layer with a mix of 2:1 Averland and Flashgitz Yellow.
Now this leaves the minis with a darker shade of yellow than what you may call the 'Traditional' scheme.
Personally I prefer it and whilst it is slightly darker I like it to remain clean as I don't feel the need to weather the world! Lol

Sample 2500 List with Primarch.

Rogal Dorn 385
Sigismund 230
Master of Signal: artificer armour; refractor field 115
Chaplain: artificer armour; combi-weapon; refractor field 115

9 Tactical Space Marines: legion vexilla; + 1 Tactical Sergeant 160
Rhino 35
9 Templar Brethren: + 1 Chapter Champion (solarite power gauntlet) 310

3 Rapier Carriers: 3× quad mortar ('Thud Gun') 195
3 Rapier Carriers: 3× quad mortar ('Thud Gun') 195
Apothecarion Detachment
Apothecary 45
1 Rapier Carrier: laser destroyer array 55

9 Heavy Support Marines: volkite culverins; + 1 Heavy Support Sergeant 335
Spartan Assault Tank: flare shield; dozer blade 325

2,500 points
Summary:  I wrote this this to showcase the Templars their First Captain and the Lord all fighting together.
All supported by the bombardment of siege shells from the master of signals with the Quad launchers and Rapier Laser Carriage.
And backed by just sheer weight of fire-power from the Volkites.
It may not be competitive but it looks awesome on the battlefield!

Until next time.

Tylar.

  1. 6 quad mortars, that's one heck of a gun line there!

Thanks for this daily treat to you all. I am slowly coming around to the idea of doing a small traitor force based on the Calth box to go with my Ultramarines - and this concise survey with painting guide is becoming a really useful way to help make a decision.

    1. TBH if I could wedge them in I'd be using 9 for sure.
But the Apothacary ensures those Volkites stay alive just that bit longer.
And with this list there just isn't the points.

  2. THIS LIST NEEDS BREACHERS!!!
Jokes aside,I like the idea of barrages raining while the spartan full of templars and Sigismund rush to the enemy lines, and I would love to include it in a list, though I personally prefer to have more bodies, as I have always envisioned the IF using plenty of infantry to HOLD THE DANG LINE like the yellow stubborn badasses they are :D

Great job with the Christmas baubles, they look great, and I'm checking every day to see a new post, it's a great and funny idea!

  3. I'm surprised to not see any breachers too. Need 20 of them to use the RoW!

    2. Another great bauble. I'm hoping you have a Sangunius Angel for the top of the tree?

  5. That's a lot of mortar. I'd take it down to 3, add some Breachers and try to swap 5 Heavy support to Heavy Bolters too, to proper represent them.
