Pre-Heresy Iron Hands: Cataphractii Terminators

Hello everyone,

a bit of a late post tonight after work just to show you my 99% complete terminators...

They are almost finished other than using the purity seal, which I am hoping to do at some point today!

The pteruges really have been the bane of my life on this project, as I've tried different colours and highlights but I think I am actually quite happy with darker look to them.

I was also struggling to find a transfer that was of a similar size to the clan sorrgol knee pad transfer from the new Iron Hands transfer sheet. But I did manage to find this cool looking skull on the old Iron Hands transfer sheet so I have decided to use it on their right knee!

The skull transfer is a bit shiney in places, but the purity seal should clear this up and give it a matte finish.

These Terminators really have been a frustrating project that I have been a little bored with so I am glad to get them pretty much completed! I have been working on a big AoS project recently so it has stifled my progress in the 30K universe but look out for something new for the Iron Hands soon when we reveal what we've been working on in December.

I also do realise the lightning claw terminator guy didn't really get a nice photo but its late and I need sleep so you'll have to forgive me!

I hope all of your projects are going well and thanks for reading,

Aveinus Kaane

  2. Doing Purity Seal in winter? You're a braver man than I.

Or doing Purity Seal in the summer. Or when the humidity's too high. Or when you look at it funny.

I've got a can of the Testor's Model Masters matte/flat coat that was recommended to me. Supposedly it's a lot more tolerant.

    1. Lol. I know. It's just terrifying.

Let me know about the Testors. I hear good things.

  3. I reckon the leather looks great the way you have it. It's light enough that it stands out as different, while still leaving the models dark. Very nice!
And surely there's an airbrush around you could varnish them with?! That aerosol stuff gives me the willies!

    1. Thanks for the feedback, I like the brown too. I have no airbrush unfortunately! It's something I think I'm going to have to buy in the future though. The blood Angels may need it! Purity seal scares me too, luckily I realised it was a bad idea this morning lol
