New Legio Custodes model spotted?

Well if you look closely at the front cover of Inferno in the bottom left corner, we have what seems to be a previously never before seen Custodes model. It's right Pauldron is clearly of the Legio Custodes flavour, as is it's gorget, silver face plate and red eyes. It appears to be sporting a Bolter variant, possibly a Combi-weapon.

Only peculiar thing is that he does not seem to be sporting a cone head.

Maybe a Legio Custodes Tactical Squad?

Not many days to go. Be sure to tune in for our regular event coverage starting on the 3rd of February.

    1. Multiple S6 AP3 shots from a footsoldier would be insane, but we can expect something cool. Maybe special ammos, or at least a bolter with AP3.

    2. They need a lot of stopping power to be viable.

    3. I agree, they have to bring some nice toys if they cost around 50 points/model. ^^ But as far as things go Custodes seem to be more about versatility and the good use of situational bonuses than pure overwhelming power. Custodians with spears won't kill any 2+ model unless they charge, the Caladius needs rending to destroy heavy vehicles, etc. I'd rather imagine the 'Boltodes' have some special ammos so they can deal with much units while still needing a bit of subtlety.

Anyway, we'll have the answer very soon. I can't wait for the book to be released ! :^)

  3. Isn't it just a Bolter armed Space Wolf Legionnairy accompanying the Custodes! There is also a SW Thunderhawk in the picture, it is the Burning of Prospero after all!

    1. Sry, as someone else pointed out, it's a Stormbird. Okay, point still stands... it's a Bloody Big Space Wolf Flyer... which leads me to believe there isn't a new Custodes, just a SW Legionnaire.

    2. As Drake points out above, the gorget, knee and shoulder are clearly not a marine. Also, it's next to a custodes speeder. Finally, it's gold with a touch of red on the shoulder (the FW scheme) rather than wolf grey. The Stormbird is clearly grey so it's not just the effects on the picture making it look gold.

    3. You may be correct, the gun looks bulky and has special issue ammo, or at least a box magazine. Hopefully you are correct, because that would be awesome. I see the gorget now.

    4. Looks like he is bare head with a respirator. Like the guy on the left on the second picture.

    5. I think it's a helmet, the red thing on his face looks like a glowing lense.

  4. Could be a new SW specialist unit, but very doubtful. A new custodes unit is like everybody else said the more likely option. But who knows. Looks cool anyway so looking forward to the next few months

  5. I'd be inclined to agree that this is just a SW unit, but the leg armor throws me off. It looks very Sigmarine.
