Adeptus Titanicus: Matched Play Guide review

Hi all

Games Workshop have sent this supplement to us to review.

So you all know how much we love Adeptus Titanicus, in fact we are going to the upcoming Titan Owners Club full scaled Walk in November.

This supplement offers guidelines and advice for organising,
setting up and running your own Adeptus Titanicus events,
whether that is tournaments and gaming weekends, or events
held at your local gaming club. The aim of this book is to provide a codified set of rules and suggestions that enable both players and Tournament Organisers to tailor their games as they see fit. It is designed as a primer for running Adeptus Titanicus events and is intended to work alongside other methods of play, such as Narrative Play or Open Play, to offer a new gaming experience for all players.

I was a bit unsure why this book needed to be written at first so will reserve my judgement until the end :)
This book builds on the matched play rules provided in the Adeptus Titanicus Rulebook.

It doubles down on the fact that previously listed Auxiliary units are still rare when selecting them.
Support Titans;
Dire Wolf Heavy Scout Titan
Warbringer Nemesis Titan
Warmaster Heavy Battle Titan
Warmaster Iconoclast Heavy Battle Titan

And Auxiliary Knight Banners;
Acastus Knight Banners
Acastus Knight Asterius Banners

Stratagem Hand:
This is different in Organised Play. Stratagems are chosen when building your battle group based on the sizes of game and remain the same over the whole event, these then go into your “Stratagem Hand”.  This is different depending on Battle level of the games set by the event Organisers.

Then the Stratagem points in the game varies from game size to game size (and the opponent gets boons if you decide to take multiple Titan Legions in your list etc).
These points can be spent in the game as you see fit from the Stratagems in your Hand.
I like this :)

The book also allows for Doubles, but they are mostly aimed at taking it in turns as you see best between you and your friend’s Titans.  But there are some cool maps!

There is also a new set of Rules references with points at the back of the book including further confirmation in Arcs of weapons such as the Carapace mounted Warbringer Weapons which went from Corridor to Arc to corridor (over the last Legio books) and firmly remain again in corridor now.

So it’s a great book to have for any who attend or run AT events, and want to do it by the Specialist Games principles :)

Battle Bunnies.
