Fantastic new release today! Really wish these kits had been available since day one. From the pictures, it appears that the kits have been improved with better poses and proportions. I recently ordered some MKVI and the packs I received were very poor and the legs very thin. The new kit looks much better.
MKII £24:
MKIII £24:
MKIV £24:
MKV £24:
MKVI £24:
So what do you think of the new kits? If they are reworked with improved quality, then I would always buy these over plastic counterparts.
Thanks for reading
Kaelo
It's always nice to see improvements, but I will miss the single bolters without a hand holding them to make conversions like placing the gun on the backpack or attached to a rifle sling.
ReplyDeleteGood to see the mkV back, while at first I didn't like it, it grew on me with time. As Sr. Dies said though, I think it was nice to have the full weapons to make conversions.
ReplyDeleteSo what legion would fit the mkv armour best ?
ReplyDeleteI love the description in Talon of Horus of the dead Son of Horus captain that the Word Bearer prophet possesses. He is described as wearing Mk V. In fact, the armour descriptions in Talon are all so detailed (Khayon's attentive mind) as well as atmospherically selling the scene.
DeleteReally makes me want to read talon of horus... Do I need to have read any particulary HH book before reading it ? Ive read everything up to prospero
DeleteTakin of Horus is a 40k novel, I don't think you need to have read any of the Heresy.
DeleteAll legions would have had MKV during the heresy but (as its creation was due to supply line issues) probably more so for loyalists?
DeleteYeah, I think you can fit it into all Legions - and f.e. Word Bearers already had them before/during Calth (as seen in the graphic novel)^^
DeleteI also liked the whole weapons for conversions. However, the hand being attached to the weapon gives you more freedom to rotate or angle the wrist. Ideally I'd like weapons to be available with and without hands attached.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. I hate all or nothing approaches.
DeleteI prefer the new approach. Hopefully Adding weapons to MkIII will not be so irritating now.
ReplyDeleteTh MKV looks lovely!
I never liked the MKV before but now I want to do some red-marked UMs!!
DeleteLove this!!!! Wish I had the cash... Wait I do!! New job pay day is almost here! Huzzah!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Simon!!
DeleteThanks kaelo.
DeleteWhat is your army's for the ultras if you don't mind?
Sorry. Army list.
DeleteI will be doing a post on my complete Ultramarine list tomorrow night. :) is that what you mean?
DeleteIt is not the most exciting release, but its very good to see FW systematically go through the range, upgrade and expand.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably the calm before the storm...
DeleteTwo weeks until open day. Can't wait to see what FW have got under their sleeves.
Yep, FW putting something new out nearly every week of the year is pretty much an achievement in itself.
DeleteCannot wait for the Weekender! What do you think will be there?
DeleteMore alpha legion & raven guard stuff is my guess. Hopefully some iron warriors too. Plus some stuff from book 6 - maybe a character or too, though who knows which.
DeleteFingers crossed we get a work in progress shot of Alpharius and maybe a new heavy knight?
My guess is that all the prospero stuff will be previewed from may onwards, as they'll want to tie stuff in with book 6.
I find this release super exciting. Basic marines are the meat and potatoes of our armies, and everyone can share in this excitement, not just specific legions or specific builds of a legion.
DeleteIt's like when Tactical Marines, Sternguards, etc got new models.
I'm just hoping that book 6 doesn't have a long wait time for the rest of the world. That and the mastadon. It's really hard not to just place an order for raven guard and actually wait!
ReplyDeleteOther than that, in hoping for more special character models. Specifically Ultramarines and raven guard. Getting the Salamander chaplain would be really awesome too!
