Lady Atia's Scorpion - progress!

Howdy Guys and Girls :)

Little post today about my progress so far this week:

I re-worked my Brass Scorpion - last time I was in a hurry and wasn't really happy with the outcome, so I stripped the parts and did it again - I really like the plates now. The technique is the same as last time, but i focused the pre-shading over the trim instead of next to it.

To sum up what I did so far:

- Metallic Basecoat
- Random lines with Gal Vorbak Red
- Pre-shading with thinned down Calth Blue - spray it over the trim!
- If you like to, you can also do another pre-shade with Mortarion Green where the deepest shadows would be
- Several thinned down layers of Angron Red - no worries if your first layers look weird, it will cover at the end

The trim was done with Castellax Bronze, Valdor Gold and Runefang Steel.

I also want to note, it's kind of hard to take pictures as the high gloss surface reflects the light, but I quite like the effect =)

Hope you like it so far! I still need a base - so if anyone has an idea what to use for it, I would appreciate it!

regards,
Lady Atia

    1. Thanks =)

Still need to do some trim, than details (like the sacrificial victims :D), and of course the base.

  2. Really nice Atia. You should be proud. Looking damn solid.

You going to do some of the other Daemon Engines too after this?

    1. Yeah I have a Khytan and 3 Blood Slaughterers waiting too - but I want to finish my Word Bearers first :)

The great thing about this scheme - I should be able to repeat it any times aslong as FW has their airbrush range hehe :P

  4. Just how big is it? I love using GWs largest round base on my knights but it does cost £5 I think?

  6. Great work, as for base, I mentioned before about shaping and cutting 3mm hardboard? You can add modelling clay to build it up, or perhaps some nuked splayed out innards of a Landraider the Scorpion has just melted and clawed and is now scuttling over?

    1. The problem with shaping/cutting - I probably won't be able to get a perfect ovale form with that. It may do it if I can't find anything to use though!

Hehe, I will add something from my next Marine army to the base. Not sure what exactly though. Maybe a Contemptor Dreadnought?

    1. Hehe, I'm currently considering both a box for pictures (I guess you know what I mean), aswell as something where I can make 360° views like FW. But both is pricey, so not sure when I can get these things.

    2. Worse case scenario. Turn video on your phone. Rotate with hand. Say ooooh and aaaah. Upload to youtube. :)

  8. So are the Forge World clear paints naturally gloss, or did you clear coat at the end?
