Happy VIth Birthday to the Battle Bunnies

Hi all

6 years old, the group is now. So we celebrated it with a Fenrisian themed feast.

I managed to knock out a huge chocolate cake in time (with help from my Legion of one):

In Nate's words "mmm, is' 'licious "

Shame the same couldn't be said for my first foray into Mead. Despite choosing Mead's with macho names like "Odin, Baldur and Loki" I managed to get what Spectre referred to as "poor choices."
It tasted very much like Sherry. . . . I was expecting a bitter Ale like drink so was slightly taken aback.

Elk was delicious though. Thoroughly recommend it. Looking forward to it again in the future.

Battle Bunnies: A look back to 2015

Hi all. Another year down. We hope you all have a great New Year's Eve tonight and a Brilliant 2016.

Here are our highlights for 2015 and what we hope to accomplish in 2016 (minus a few secrets we are holding back of course :) )

Aveinus:
I would have to say my favourite moment of 2015 was going to the horus heresy weekender for the first time. I really enjoyed the seminars and authors insights into the newly released books and future projects. I also can't forget about joining the battle bunnies! It has done wonders for my hobby projects and I'm completing them faster than ever thanks to everyone's advice and motivation!

My main goal for this year is to complete my Iron Hands legion. I have a lot to buy as I want a lot of diversity for the future campaigns we are going to be doing. I don't really want to let my self become distracted but if I do have time later in the year I would like to complete a xenos army or maybe add a mechanicum contingent to my legion before starting blood Angels.

Kaelo:
My favourite moment of the year has to be the feeling I got when I saw the Roboute Guilliman preview at the Horus Heresy weekender. I was so happy that I actually shed a tear. I still think Guilliman is one of the nicest sculpts but I can't wait to see an alternative pose.

My goals for the new year are going to be quite broad. I aim to start finishing some projects. Ideally I would like to finish my Ultramarines, Salamanders, Raven Guard and Sons of Horus. I would also like to complete 2 Xenos Forces. Realistically I think I will aim for Ultramarines, 1500-2000 points of my other legions and a Xenos force. It can be done. Just need to focus and stop changing my mind. I also want to complete 5 Knights for House Vornherr and a Warhound for Legio Praesagius or Tempestus.

King Fluff:
My favourite moment of the year has to be the Bunnies Xmas Bash. It was amazing to meet a group of like minded people all passionately committed to gaming in the great crusade era. It really did feel like a home coming to me and has legitimised all the work I've been doing in the background over the last 3 years.

My goal for 2016 is quite simple, I could list all the units and forces I'd like to complete or the games I'd like to play (which all in all are probably too numerous to list) but instead my goal is to enjoy the hobby more. This involves meeting up with the other Bunnies as regularly as possible, paint units I enjoy painting and take on challenges which stretch but don't break me. I'd like 2016 to be the year of the Xenos and so I'd like to assist the other Bunnies in their Xenos ambitions.

Drake Seta:
2015 was slow for me in many regards. A new born baby does restrict your hobby time a fair bit. Nathaniel is doing great and is constantly standing by my miniatures cabinet as if to say "can I play/eat them yet?" In fact he is 1 today.
I managed to get Perturabo, Nathaniel Garro and Narek Dreygur painted which I am proud of. I also started numerous more projects including the gigantic Bone Garland (Warlord Titan), several Knights, 21 Grave Warden, numerous Mechanicum things and continued my (now mothballed) Night Lord Legion.
My favourite part though has been watching how the gaming group has grown. We have now reached a nice group size of ten members. The encouragement, advice and fluff debates that is constantly being messaged back and fourth in our group messenger is so fantastic to be part of.
I also got my Best of Show Death Guard Sicaran in the Horus Heresy weekender 2015 brochure, which was an amazing moment for me.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Legion in a day feature we did too. Was great for a few of us to get together just with the intention of getting as much done in a day as possible.

Darien:
My highlights of 2015 were joining the Battle Bunnies and the Bunny Christmas get together! Joining the Bunnies has been amazing! It has motivated me to focus on a project and to make regular and consistent progress. The Christmas get together was great fun, getting to meet, talk and game with the other Bunnies was brilliant.

My goals for the new year are to complete the bulk of my Sons of Horus as quickly as possible. This will give me a legion to game with whilst I put together and paint up my Emperors Children. I would like to make some really solid progress on the EC's as well, hopefully completing a few thousand points! I also need to paint up more of my orks, specifically more boyz, as this will get them even more ready for campaign action. I also plan on assisting the Bunnies where needed with Xenos projects or any other projects that require help. Finally to top it off I need to complete my scenery plans and get a gaming table up and running!

Atia:
One of my favourite Hobby moments this year was of course joining the Battle Bunnies - I already said it, you guys are an awesome bunch and motivate me every day! Other highlites were unboxing my Zone Mortalis tiles and painting my FW Bloodthirster and Valkia. Playing Betrayal at Calth with my new love was also pretty awesome!

My goals for 2016 are to complete Zone Mortalis armies for both Word Bearers and Ultramarines, aswell as the ZM board itself - so far I have enough tiles for a 6' x 4' board, and I'm really looking forward to paint them up! I also need to finish my Khorne Daemons, and start with the Slaanesh and Tzeentch ones. Last but not least - I want to paint up the first three Knights of House Vyronii, using my airbrush - can't wait to try some new weathering techniques!

Tylar:
Becoming a Battle Bunny has been one of the highlights of 2015 for me. Somewhere to share my HH creative ideas with like-minded people.
And I've met some really great people as a result.
Playing with and against Demi and Paul Rudd was a bonus and a pleasure.

My master of signal dropping a lance strike on top of Kharn and his boys was a highlight of that game too. Sorry Lee lol

In 2016 I look forward to having a significant Imp Fist army painted. The first ever for me.
The impending Space Wolf releases, the mastodon obviously, and the next HH book.
I look forward to engaging in more projects with the rest of the group including my re-alignment of a cityscape tile project I'd like to do and finishing my own city scape board and buildings to go on it.
Plus the plethora of unfinished minis I have lol

Castiel:
My highlights of the year well i have only been back in the hobby for a few months but what a few months it has been. Joining the bunnies to have such a talented group around me to inspire and help me out along the way has been fantastic.

The legion in a day project was do much fun and accomplishing so much in a day was quite something!

The Christmas get together was a fantastic day first run out for my Dark Angels getting to battle with and against some great people who made it a lot of fun.

Goals for the coming year to add some more units to the Dark Angels both infantry and vehicles to keep me going until some legion specific units arrive. And to complete a sizeable force of Word Bearers.

I can't wait to get involved in more group projects and campaigns in the year to come which will bring the opportunity to meet up and battle with the other bunnies 😊

Wrap up:
We hope you have a great 2016. Share your opinions below too!

GINGERHAWK GUNSHIP: Merry Xmas 2015 from the Battle Bunnies

Season Greetings to all.

I present to you all the Gingerhawk Gunship. Made by myself and my mother to celebrate Xmas 2015.

Merry Xmas to all Bloggers out there too! Especially: Gary from Natfka, Loken from Heresy 30k, Age of Sigmar blogspot, M-K Painting Studios, Painting Bunker, Spikey Bits, Aus30k, as well as Crusade and Heresy.

A Special Merry Xmas to all Forge World, Black Library and GW staff. Thanks for making 2015 so amazing. Looking forward to 2016.

It was a labour of love (and anger) which took 3 evenings to complete! It has landing gear (stands off of the ground) and is totally to scale.

Lascannons are Kit Kat sticks, engines are boost bars and the Thunderhawk cannon is a ripple bar.

Work in progress shot.

Merry Xmas from the Battle Bunnies

May your stockings be full of Resin and Battle at Calth boxes.

1,000,000 page views!!!

Hi all.

Battle Bunnies have reached a benchmark of 1,000,000 page views.

Target Vypus:
When we formed our group a few years ago and decided to do a blog, I never thought that we would hit 1 millions views. I still can't really comprehend it.

I hope we will now get completely underway with our great crusade campaigns and some of the campaigns in the Forge World Horus Heresy books. And if we are lucky, we'll see you all along with the ride.

Drake Seta:
Well that's humbling. Thanks so much to everyone out there for reading our blog. It does truly mean a lot to us that we get contacted by 30k fans all around the world, sharing pictures and asking questions. We thoroughly enjoy this hobby and all of the people we meet.

Looking forward to getting more than 20 battles in for the next 1,000,000 views and hopefully 2 more Legions finished!

Thanks all!

Darko Thane:
1 million views... Hard to contemplate it. Being new to the hobby I feel great to be part of this wonderful community. So far I have a (at the moment) completed World Eater force and an ongoing Emperors Children army. I also have in possession a Mechanicum force in which I will continue to add to. Can't wait to hit another million views. In that time I will look to have:

A finished Emperors Children legion
Another legion finished, hopefully Alpha Legion
A xenos force for a campaign
A titan or two!!

Again I wish to thank you all for your continued support and hope you all help us to an even higher level 😊

Little Bunny:
Oh how awesome! I am so happy! It's nice that our painting is recognised and has received a million page views! Definitely something to celebrate 😊 well done battle bunnies!

Khall Sithis:
Wow, 1 million views! To be 100% honest, I never imagined we would ever reach a figure like that...

1 million views later and I still have the same amount of completed projects, I have a Warhound Titan still sat in its box and we have only just really started a huge narrative campaign...imagine the content between now and the next 1 million views. I propose I will complete:
2 Legions (Ultramarines and Salamanders)
5 Knights for house Vornherr
My Ghost Warriors
A Legio Praesagius Reaver
My Warhound finally...

I have enjoyed being a part of this hobby for 22 years and I thoroughly enjoy being part of your news source. Thank you everyone for making my dream come true.

Thanks all.

BATTLE BUNNIES HOSTING AN ISSTVAN 5 GAMING WEEKENDER. INTERESTED?

Hello to all our Readers.
Many of you out there are in the process of collecting your favourite Legion and have been gaming actively with them for a year or more, you may have even gone to a gaming event or two.
The Battle Bunnies are now getting to a point where we want to organise an Isstvan 5 Campaign weekend for next year. We hope for it to be a whole weekend of gaming on large well prepared detailed boards, re enacting the whole Massacre.
We are putting feelers out at the moment but are aiming for circa 21 tables, and limited places for each Legion.
If you are interested either comment below or message us in private. We already have 6 entrees and we are in early talks with Forge World to see if they would like to have a stand there. It would probably be based in or around Milton Keynes (middle of UK between London and Birmingham).

Let us know. Looking forward to hearing from you either thru Facebook, messenger or our Blog.

Happy new year everyone. Hope you all had a lot of fun and drunk way too much.

So we had Massacre in 2013 and are hoping to see both Extermination and Inferno (please change to Razing) in 2014. So I asked the group some questions:

What do you hope to complete and by when?

What do you think the limited edition FW minis will be this year?

Who do you think will be th toughest Primarch in book 3 Extermination?

What predictions do you have for the Legions in Book 3 (minus the obvious ones please)?

New Year, New Heresy

So we are about to enter into 0000014.M002 (alternatively known as 2014)!!! :D

Looking forward to next year we are going to see much more of the Heresy unfold. Coming up we will have the next book Execution, which will contain the Alpha Legion, Raven Guard, Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors. I am very much looking forward to these bein released as I will be taking command of the Alpha Legion and the Raven Guard. With these new legions we will also have all we need to complete an Isstvan V campaign which I am thoroughly looking forward to complete.

We shall also be seeing new releases to already released legions, such as the Red Butchers for the World Eaters, special units for the Salamanders, Iron Hands, Night Lords and Word Bearers, and also all new characters such as Kharn, Typhon and Saul Tarvitz.

Also being awaited are the new Primarchs. This year we will be hoping to see the release of Mortarion and Horus Lupercal to complete the Betrayal lineup. Rumours spreading that the next Primarch will be Corvus Corax. This excites me as it gives me my 2nd Primarch!! I am looking forward to seeing when and who will be released, but we will keep you updated when we know :)

I am very much looking forward to a new set of events to attend such as the Forge World Open Day and the Horus Heresy Weekender. I had a lot of fun at these events last year and I expect them to be even better this year! Also coming with these events will be the limited edition models that are released specifically at these events. I expect some sort of story based individuals but who knows what will be there!!! Again we at Battle Bunnies will be at the events and will report all of our findings.

Over the coming year I will look to complete my current armies such as the World Eaters and my newly acquired Salamanders (especially looking forward to seeing Vulkan!!). Currently we are engaging our own Great Crusade campaign and I am looking forward to compete in more battles to eradicate the xenos filth from the galaxy! I hope to learn more from the Heresy as I am currently reading through the Black Library stories and am learning more and more every day!

My resolution to myself and the Bunnies will be to complete as much as I can, displaying all completions to you lovely fans and providing guides to all of my endeavours. I will try to blog more for you (as all of us Bunnies shall) to keep you all updated in our exploits and projects.

Cant wait for the new year and new experiences and looking forward to sharing it all with you.

Have a great 2014 and a happy new year to you all!!

Angron - With Painting Guide

Hi there guys,

As promised here is my painting guide for Angron, Primarch of the World Eaters. I thoroughly enjoyed this model and am extremely pleased with this. Been looking forward to this for so long and glad to have finished the Red Angel. Hope you enjoy my painting guide and make use of it. Enjoy!!

Here are the pieces I shall be using for the main model. I know there is an extended base but for the purposes of this guide I shall use the combat base. Excellent quality resin here. Good to wash and hardly any trimming needed.

Gluing the pieces into place and ensure the space marine is put in place so Angron can be placed onto him.

Spray the model with Chaos Black spray. Avoid spraying onto the marine. I used blue tac to cover the model but you could easily spray the pieces individually, its your call.

To get the armour right I built up the colour over a number of layers. With Angron I prefer to have him primarily with a bronze colour rather than gold. I am using an airbrush to bring up my layers. I start here with Warplock Bronze. Must ensure that you add each layer fully and getting in all the crevices.

Next layer consists of 50% Warplock Bronze and 50% Brass Scorpion.

Next layer is sprayed with Brass Scorpion.

The next stage includes spraying with 1 part Brass Scorpion and 2 parts Runelord Brass.

Lastly for the armour I used a wash of Reikland Fleshshade. To get the right colour I applied 2 doses here, especially to bring up the ridges and liven it up.

Next I painted the cloth which consists of the tabards on the arms and around the waist. To paint this I used a 50/50 mix of Khorne Red and Wazdakka Red. As always to get the consistency right I mixed it with Lahmian Medium (LM).

To paint the studs I used Sycorax Bronze along with LM. After that is completed I go over the cloth with a wash of Carroburg Crimson to give it a deeper shade.

Now for Gorechild and Gorefather. When painting the hilt I used 50/50 Khorne Red and Mephiston Red along with LM. For the shafts I used a drybrush application of Balthasar Gold and then a drybrush of Shining Gold. To get the blades right I first used Boltgun Metal, then applied a second layer consisting of Runefang Steel mixed with LM. Once the Runefang had been applied I applied a heavy wash of Nuln Oil. I applied the wash quite roughly as I like to give the weapons some age.

Next on the list were the chains. To complete these I used Leadbelcher mixed with a lot of LM to make sure it keeps the chains defined correctly. When the metal was completed I gave a wash of Nuln Oil.

As above you can see I applied the base scenery with Abaddon Black so I can then paint the right colours over that. As you can see I painted the marine as a World Eater. See my previous painting guide "How to paint Pre-Heresy World Eaters" if you want to follow my example. To get the scenery correct I used various shades of grey for stone and browns for the sands.

As you can see where Angron stands on the marine he has burst the chest cavity. To express the gore I used a slight paint of Khorne Red.

With the cloak now. To start this off I sprayed the cloak with Chaos Black. For the first layer I applied Rhinox Hide with a lot of LM to ensure the colour gets into all the spaces.

To bring the cloak up to the desired colour and effect I brought up a number of different shades of brown. To start off I applied a light drybrush of Dryad Bark, then Dryad Bark mixed with Steel Legion Drab. I mixed firstly at 75%/25% and then switched to 25%/75% after drybrushing each. I lastly applied a slight drybrush of Steel Legion Drab around the edges of the fur only.

To complete the back of the cloak I painted the chains with the Leadbelcher combo as listed above. For the skulls I drybrushed a layer of Baneblade Brown and then brought it up with a layer of Ushabti Bone. After that I applied a wash of Agrax Earthshade to deepen the skulls colour but used a slight drybrush of Ceramite White over the skulls.

For the inside of the cloak I started with a layer of Steel Legion Drab mixed with LM.

To then define the cloak I applied an overbrush of Baneblade Brown, concentrating more on the edges as they are the places to mostly age.

Next to be completed are Angrons subweapons. For Angrons combat blade I painted the sheath with Machanicus Standard Grey and the hilt and studs of Sycorax Bronze, ending with a wash of Nuln Oil. On the later picture there is Angron's Spite Furnace pistol. Unfortunately there isn't a picture for that, although I can say I used a 50/50 mix of Khorne Red and Mephiston Red with LM for the holster, Boltgun Metal for the studs and Balthasar Gold for the grip.

Now comes the dreaded skintone!! For me I was worried about it but was pretty simple. To start off I used a 2-1 part mixture of Baneblade Brown and Cadian Fleshtone. I wanted to give a darker fleshtone but at the same time needed it light enough to make Angron look, not necessarily ill, but damaged.

I then washed the face with a wash mix of 75% Agrax Earthshade and 25% Druchii Violet. After the wash has dried I applied a highlight of the above face layer to go over the wash.

Apologies for the quality here but nextly were Angron's signature Butcher's Nails. For this I used Leadbelcher as they are historic, not like the modern nails we see in such units as the Rampagers or Red Butchers.

Lastly I had to complete the facial features. I completed the facepaint with Khorne Red with LM. Painting the eyes and teeth I used a very thin layer of Ushabti Bone.

And there we have it folks!! Apply the blade to the cloak in the slot provided and glue the cloak on the back. Lastly glue the Spite Furnace to the right side of Angron's waist.

And who doesn't enjoy some blood!!!!! To make this up I've used a few shades of red and used a sponge to spatter the blood to the chainaxes. Using a lot of LM to thin up the consistency and ranging the shades to vary the gore content. Lastly I used Ardcoat as a way of really bringing the 'blood' to life and it looks really good. For now I have just applied to the axes but I'm toying with the idea of applying to the bottom of the cloak.

I hope you enjoyed my guide and hope it serves you well!! Please let me know what you think and keep checking in for more units, or even look back at some of our historical paintings. Can't wait to start using this goliath!!
