Legions on Parade: Max Golovanov's Vlka Fenryka

Hello once again to all the Heresy and 30k fans out there.

Today on Legions on Parade we have our first Space Wolf Legion.

A lot of love and time has gone into Max's Rout. Here we have a ltd edition Wolf priest and Wulfen.

Cataphractii and a Sparten with a  Contemptor in support. The Hammer is a great touch.

The Legion advances.

Scimitar Jetbikes

A lot of characterisation has gone into his models.

Great to see some of the old Rogue Trader vehicles on the board. The Vindicators with Laser destroyers are very nice.

3 Storm Eagles for when you just can't breach a wall.

A drink driver.

3 Rapiers.

More great looking characters.

The conversions that Max has done show this to be a well loved army with lots of time put into it. He has captured the individual feel of the Rout, where each Fenrisian seems to be telling their own Saga.

Well done Max. A great looking Legion.

Maybe you have a Legion you would like us to showcase. Follow the links on the left and yours could be next Wednesday.

Legions on Parade: Matt Woodsmith's World Eaters

Hi all. Today we have a beautiful World Eater army up for Legions on Parade. Let's have a look.

Here is what Matt has to say on this beautiful Legion;

They were painted using the method from Forgeworld’s guide available on their download section – spray white and then wash using a mix of Nuln Oil/Drakenhof Nightshade/Lamhain Medium/Water. Then sponge white thinned with Lahmian Medium over the top. I’ve added an additional line highlight of white on top of that as well to neaten them a bit.

The blue areas are sprayed Ultramarine blue separately, washed using the same wash mix as the white areas, highlighted with Calgar Blue and given a coat of Guilliman Blue glaze to bring out the colour.

After matt varnishing, I’ve flicked Blood for the Blood God over the top for blood splatter.

The contrast of high gloss red and dullcote finish on the armour is quite pleasing.

My favourite unit is probably the Attack Bikes – I’m rather pleased with how the conversion came out and I like that they come with Chain Axes in addition to the Autocannon.

This for me sums up the pre-Heresy World Eaters; they’re capable of the speed, manoeuvrability and firepower of all the Astartes Legions, but with added bloodthirstiness exemplified by the entirely unnecessary Chain Axes.

They often act in the game in the way I think they should act in the background (credit to Forgeworld’s rules guys - they regularly get this right) – instead of claiming that militarily useful objective, they often go haring off after the next source of bloody violence. This makes them great warriors, but terrible soldiers – exactly as I imagine them to be.

Matt Woodsmith.

Well that is all from us for this week's Legion on Parade. Perhaps you have a Legion you want to share. Follow the guide on the left hand side and yours could be up next Wednesday.

Legions on Parade: Alexandr Rodnischev's World Eaters

Hello Ladies, Gentlemen and Bunnies.

For your viewing enjoyment I present Alexandr's World Eater Legion.

Angron

A huge horde of Legionnaires.

A Storm Eagle circles the Castellum.

Orhlacc Knights' thralled to Angron's will.

Nice use of Weathering powder.

Red sands.

Alexandr:
I used gw, Vallejo paints, wilder pigments, tamia washes.
White basecoat washed grey wash, then put details. Shoulder pads made using dark Prussia blue and knorne red. Black green for eyes. Balthazar gold and gunmetal grey for shining parts, dwarf, elf and cadians flesh for skin. Thin washed black ink, some ligher paints and drybrushed white. Than black pigments on a weapons edge, red rust on a legs and for some weapons part.
Dreadnoughts, tank and eagle are painted he same, just a little more rusty and washed Vallejo rust between grey and black washes
Knights are from Orhlacc House, their coulor scheme is black and purple. Basecoated black for body and purple for purple, Balthazar gold, green lenses, washed black and druchi violet, then some transfers from baneblade, black pigments for weapons and pipes, red rust for metal details on a legs.
Base made from parts of aquilla flyer crushed in 4th gw starter and using red sand from red bricks.
Next project is five forge world Knights for my Orhlacc House.

As for Castellum stronghold, I used sandwich Penoplex for walls and bunker, green lights inside. Perlfix glue for making wall and bunker surface. The same for floor, but later I changed it by red sand for contrast. The idea was about a Natural fortress in some mountains made from rocks. Well bunker stil needs more details

Thanks for sharing Alexandr.

Legions on Parade: Jens Rosemann's Word Bearers

Ladies, Gentlemen and Bunnies. Please find for your viewing pleasure; Jens' Heresy Word Bearers Legion.

The first Heretics and a good base board too.

A tactical despoiler squad. He has posed this squad extremely well.

A brutal squad of Cataphractii

A nice mix of old and new Boltgun variants in this Tactical squad.

A Freeblade advances along side.

The open book on the Sparten is a great touch to the model.

Jens' Praetor equipped with a Volkite and Paragon blade.

A Legion Contemptor with Kheres Assault Cannon and Flamer.

The paint scheme is quite easy apparently according to Jens.

1. Prime with chaos black
2. Paint the model with Khorne red
3. Paint the trim of the shoulders and some other areas (trim of knee pads, trim of gloves, ...) with Leadbealcher
4. Paint the details (eyes, weapon (mechanicum standard grey), ...). I like to exchange the colors for some of the details from time to time. The eyes vary from blue to purple.
5. Add a nice person layer of Nuln oil over the whole miniature.
6. Paint the 'runes' with ceramite white here and there. Not to much.

What is your best tip?
I guess my best tip for the 'evil' word bearers after istvaan / calth is: Go dark. They are the arch traitors and they should not be bright and shiny. So always tune them down with a layer of nuln oil when you are finished.

I also have a Land Raider, a Predator Infernus, 10 Veterans, an Anvillus and a Fire Raptor on my todo list. But they are not finished yet so they are not in the pictures.

If you have a Legion you want to show off to the Great Crusade / Heresy Community; follow links on the left to see how it could be your Legion next week.

Legions on Parade: Olly Warsop's World Eaters

Ladies Gentlemen and Bunnies, it's that time of the week again. Today I am delighted to present Olly Warsop's World Eaters.

Olly is a regular reader of our Facebook page and has also put his name down to be notified for the Battle Bunny Isstvan 5 event we are in the early stages of setting up.

So without further adieu.

A brutal looking Praetor. Great blood effects on the weapons and armour.

His Legion as it currently stands.

My favourite tank.

Legion vehicles in World eater colours look great.

Some of his models sport some of the old Warhound iconography to show the length of service the Legionnaire has had so far.

Land Raiders.

A very well painted Plasma blaster. How did you get this effect Olly?

A nice mixture of Axes and Chainswords as well as Legion helmets.

And a horde of Tactical Legionnaires.

A beautiful Legion Olly. Hope to hear what you are working on next soon.
