Atia's Death Guard - The Angel of Nurgle

Howdy Guys and Girls :)

Just a quick showcase for Mortarion, aswell as a look on what I'm working next.

Mortarion the Reaper

The Death Lord, Angel of Nurgle, Daemonprimarch of the Death Guard

"Pain is an illusion of the senses, fear an illusion of the mind, beyond these only death waits as silent judge o'er all."

Size comparison with his past self (but that's paradox Morty!)

And a group shot with all his friends so far:

What's next on my painting table? Well, some more Death Guard, aswell as Zone Mortalis for Necromunda! Oh, and I also finished some Nurglings :)

Hope you enjoyed our first Daemonprimarch! C&C are always welcome :)

Lady Atia

Atia's Death Guard Progress and upcoming stuff!

Howdy Guys and Girls :)

Just a quick update on my slow work on the Nurgle Death Guard, aswell as some upcoming stuff I'm quite excited about!

I've managed to paint the Sergeant and two more Plague Marines - only one to go for the first 5 man unit!

The new Death Guard kits are amazing - each feels like an unique character! Can't wait to get my hands on Mortarion, Typhus and the multipart kits:

I'm gonna paint Mortarion like my other models - 30k colours, ready for the Siege of Terra! Besides the Legionaries I'm also gonna do some more daemons - including Horticulous Slimux and his cute snail.

In other news, two skirmish level games are gonna be released within the next months - Shadespire and Necromunda. Systems with 4-10 models per side are a painters dream, as I can get some cool unique stuff from different factions without having to go full army on them! Busy times ahead, indeed ....

Atia paints .... Siege of Terra Death Guard!

Howdy Guys and Girls :)

Just a quick post to cover some of my slow progress from the last weeks - my Siege of Terra era Nurgle Death Guard (what a name!):

As you can see, I'm slowly working through the contents of the Dark Imperium Boxed set. I love the usage of corrupted Mark III and Cataphractii armour, so I decided to paint them in still-Legion colours and theme them for the legendary assault on the Emperor's Palace!

The Death Guard next to some Gal Vorbak:

Paint Scheme Recipe:

- Primer with Corax White (GW spray can)

Basecoats:

White:

- Coat of FW Typhon Ash
- Zenithal layer of FW Typhon Ash mixed with a bit of white
- Shading with thinned down Agrax Earthshade

Green:

- Coat of Loren Forest
- Highlight with a mix of Loren Forest and Death Guard Green

- Shade everything (white and green) with thinned down Seraphim Sepia. I use the FW airbrush clear for this (lots of lots of lots of FW clear mixed with sepia)

Highlights and Bronze:

- White is highlighted with Vallejo Aged White - I mix more and more white into it for further ones.
- Green is further highlighted with a mix of Death Guard Green and Screaming Skull.

Bronze parts is
- Basecoat of Castellax Bronze
- Agrax Earthshade
- Highlights with Sycorax Bronze
- Highlights with Stormhost Silver
- Verdigris (I'm using the technical verdigris paint from Vallejo)

Weathering:

- I sponge some Iron Hands Steel and Vallejo Dry Rust on green and white parts
- Streaking with Verdigris, Vallejo Vomit and Ammo of Mig Streaking Rust Effects
- Metallic parts get some rust weathering powder

Hope you like them so far - I'm gonna be away for some vacations during most of August, and wish everyone of you a nice summer :)

Lady Atia

The Horus Heresy Weekender May 18th 2013: Excitement builds.

Here is the artwork for the event exclusive Book for the Horus Heresy Weekender of next month.

It shows two Adeptus Custodes in debate on a bridge, with the Imperial Palace in the background. It also shows an Orbital plate hovering over the Himalayas. I do believe the chap on the left is Constantin Valdor, if so it may be a follow up on the Sigilite book, told from the Custodes perspective.

This whole scene is official fluff.

Sooooo. We will have a snow dusted board at the siege of Terra when it comes about. Also the Orbital Plate is huge as we know. So will there be some exciting Zone Mortalis engagements to be fought inside to gain control of orbital defence emplacements on these plates? I hope so. Huge beautiful Stained glass windows dominate the front of (what I assume is) the palace too which I think that is a nice touch. There is also a gorgeous golden city sitting in the valley, which pleases me to know our City board can be used on Terra (we may need to dust it in fake snow before we game though :)

It was painted by artist Neil Roberts and once again he has done a great job.

Four Bunnies will be going to the Horus Heresy Weekender in May (tickets are still on sale guys everyone which can be purchased from here http://www.blacklibrary.com/Events/hh-weekender.html). The event should herald the release of Fulgrim and give us some exceptional insight to the progress and future of the Heresy. Also we get to be locked away with some of the most inspirational people of our favourite Timeline and Sci-fi galaxy. I may have a pint with McNeil, Swallow, Kyme or Abnett too!!

We will also be having a give away of some Horus Heresy Goodies for our readers at the end of May from the Event, so check back regularly to find out how you can possibly get some Freebies and maybe even some Miniatures from The Horus Heresy range.
