Legion in a Day - Concluded

So our day to paint the Betrayal at Calth box set (plus other models) is over. We had hoped to complete all models today in our Legion in a Day challenge for Castiels Dark Angels.

Unfortunately we have not completed everything but we have made a huge impact on everything. The tactical marines have been nearly concluded, the Contemptor has had some good work done to it and the rest of the models need only trim and weapons to do. A few more hours and it would have been done but working 14 hours straight has taken its toll on us all!!

We are very pleased with our work today, regardless of the fact we have not been able to meet our legion target!! Heres a few pics of the most complete models so far:

We have thoroughly enjoyed working through the box set. Overall it works as well as its resin counterparts, in places surpassing the resin models we know so well.

Have you enjoyed seeing our progress? What have you been able to do so far? Let us know in the comments below :)

Legion in a Day - part 4

So here we are with another exciting update on our Legion in a Day project. Previously we had just about assembled all that we had to do and retrieved other models that we have added to the mix.

Now we have applied the base coat to our legionaries and also airbrushed them to the shade that we desire, mimicing the official scheme from Forge World. It is all hands on deck right now and we are furiously looking to get everything finished!!

A wash will need to be applied and then we will work on the trim and weapons. Once a unit or two have been complete we will provide another update!

What do you guys think of our progress so far? Let us know what you guys are planning/working through in the comments below :)

Legion in a Day - part 3

So we are certainly making our way through the Legion in a Day project. We have moved over to Drake's foundries and have added certain other units into the mix of our Betrayal at Calth units.

Added in are:

5 plasma destroyers
10 despoilers
5 multi melta marines
5 volkite marines

The above models have already been worked on and been base sprayed. We are just about to add the base coats to the rest of the models we are working on. Progress is coming along nicely but we are unsure of hitting our target today. But fret not as we will not give up, in the Emperor's name we shall not give up!!!

Our next progress shall be once colour has been applied to all models. Missing from the picture above are 20 marines which are currently undergoing work so do not think we are missing out!!

Do you guys approve of our progress so far? Have you made progress on your own? Let us know in the comments below :)

Legion in a Day - part 2

So here we are with a bit more progress on our Legion in a Day project. A bit slower than we had anticipated but included an extended lunch break we think these are coming along nicely:

For now we have started constructing the torsos and applying them to the legs. We have some legion specific torsos so they will be added to the mix in places. The cataphractii have been constructed and after we have then finished up the marines we will be at a painting stage!!

Working through this kit we are all falling for this kit. It works together so well and it is so nice to build with.

Next up we will show the fully built stage and also our base spray stage.

How are your kits turning out to be? How do you like our progress so far? Let us know in the comments below :)

Legion in a Day - part 1

So here we are with our Legion in a Day project. We are aiming to construct and paint everything in the Betrayal at Calth boxset.

This consists of the 30 tactical marines, 5 cataphractii and the Contemptor. The two characters we are undecided on what to do with these so we will be mainly concentrating on reporting for.

So far we have clipped, trimmed and glued the legs to bases, and sanded the bases for all of the models. The Contemptor itself has been fully built.

Heres a look at where we are right now:

Next we are working up all of the marines. Check back soon for our next wave of progress!!!

What are you doing for your boxset? Let us know in the comments below :)
