Hammer of Dorn

Ladies and Gents welcome to my second post with content from my Imperial Fists.

What can I say, we've all been very busy in the Bunny Camp recently with projects and work galore taking up our time.
Today I bring you 'The Hammer of Dorn' my Typhon super heavy tank.
I have a soft spot for big tanks and fire power and this thing oozes it.

So on to my tank. I'll be bringing this from build to paint leading up to Xmas.
Unfortunately I will be venturing off into the warp once more for several weeks however I'll be available to answer any questions you guys have. When I return at the end of Nov I hope to have a further update with the next stage.

Enjoy the photos and feel free to ask any questions. I have to say the new track sections are great and the single moulding is much better than the original build with separate tracks.
I started with the basic 18 parts that now make the super structure minus the optional sponsons.

The kit is a dream to build and goes together quickly.

Now as you can see above to add a little something different I used one of the plastic landraider doors to change the dynamic leading to a slightly different look. A small change like this can bring individuality to your model.
Now I also decided to add some of the etched brass Imp Fist icons. You can use the Imp Fist landraider doors from FW however I prefer the etched brass as its a more subtle effect.

Once the were dry fitted for placement I then glued then in place and fixed them with Zip Kicker accelerator.

An internal shot before I glued the track sections on.

Without the gun shield.

With the gun shield.

Now at this point the gun shield and Main gun itself are not glued/affixed as these need to be separate for base coat.

A completed birds eye view.

So I hope you like the build so far, and if you have any question feel free to comment below.

    3. Oooh that in yellow would be awesome.

I agree with the etched brass too. So much easier and friendlier to use. You going to be using some transfers too?

    4. Yes but not many. I don't like to clutter a model.

    1. I contacted FW and they sent me out the new tracks for free! Give it a go...whats the worst that can happen?

    2. I just put two of those kits together and as long as you have a sharp knife and a hairdryer to hand they aren't as bad as you think. I'm glad I read those articles floating around about the tracks not fitting so that I knew to expect something but it didn't turn out that bad

    3. Ps- damn I wish I'd thought of that. I stuck them together the week before I discovered FW had changed the mould!!

  4. Looking great Tylar. Excited to see some fists on the blog. They are in my top 4 legions I think. Have fun in the warp but look out for Slaanesh...he/she/it will invade you.

    1. Lol. Yup. So happy they added tracks to the flanks. An hour or two less faffing around by reckoning.

    2. Drakes right. Although be prepared to do a little cleaning and sanding along the way to ensure you get good clean fits.
